Big on Charm, Not on Price
Big on Charm, Not on Price
The owners of this property are vacation professionals. They have thought of everything. Light switches throughout the condo are labeled, there are hooks where you need hooks, and there is almost everything you need in the kitchen, including an ice maker. The layout was absolutely perfect for families- there is a screened-in semi-private porch at the entrance right by the laundry room, so kids could be stripped down before going inside when returning from the beach. It made keeping the place clean much easier. The kids' bedroom is the quietest/darkest room in the condo, so all the kids slept well. The location in North Myrtle Beach was perfect for families. It was on a dead-end street in an oceanfront building, and while there were lots of other buildings close by, it wasn't terribly crowded. The best thing about this rental is that it is in the back of an oceanfront building, so you don't have to cross any streets or drive anywhere to go to the beach, but it also isn't as expensive as an oceanfront condo would be. It is also charmingly and appropriately decorated- so many of the other rentals I looked at had plasma televisions and $5000 sofas, and I found myself asking why. This place has normal furniture that is sturdy and well-loved without being dirty. It makes so much more sense to me. There were plenty of towels, the beds were very comfortable, and the washer and dryer are full sized. There were a few maintenance problems, but the owner was very helpful and responsive about getting them taken care of. She was really great to work with. There were even some boogie boards, chairs, and umbrellas available. The fact that the linens and cleaning fees are included makes this a very affordable perfect beach vacation spot. There is a Kroger five minutes away,Walmart super center and malls less than ten minutes away, and Costco is 25 minutes away. The owner recommended Bimini's Oyster Bar, which was fantastic. It's right across from Kroger. This place isn't fancy and it isn't going to pass a strict white-glove inspection, but it is clean, cute, and functional and the price is right. Things that would make this great rental excellent: a longer pull cord for the fan light, an electric griddle, pull apart washable kitchen shears, a pizza cutter, a better fan for the front bedroom, and a collapsible step stool for the kids' bathroom. A ceiling fan on the screened deck and a Finding Nemo DVD would make it AWESOME. Great place! Looking forward to returning!

Does not sleep 10!
Does not sleep 10!
The picture of the living room is outdated. There is no pull out couch. So 1 King, 1 queen, 1 full, 1 set of bunk beds = 8 people in beds. Called both owners on arrival day to find out why they advertised unit with a sleeper sofa/convertible bed, and also because the refridgerator was not working. I left a voicemail with 1 owner giving specifics, and left a message with the 2nd owners daughter. the phone calls were never returned....the entire week. The refrigerator finally started working, after hours of worrying about losing all the food I had just purchased, and the rest of the stay was manageable. One kid on the couch, 1 kid on the window bench seat. There was a family in the unit above us with 2 little ones that ran around from 7am - 8pm, but that is the luck of the draw in a downstairs unit, which I only took because it slept 10...which it actually didn't. Parking was not a problem, (had to park across the street 1 night out of 7). Overall a good stay but would have been great if unit details were more accurate and the owners returned the call.
