Refurbished for 2010, the latest addition to my Luxury Country Rentals Beach House Collection is close to the heart of Punta Del Este - the South American Côte d'Azur, a unique blend of St Tropez and The Hamptons. This unique Punta Del Este Beach House is available for long weekends, short breaks, vacations and longer holiday rentals.
Nestled into the dunes at Solanas / Portozuelo beach the castle sleeps up to 16 in air-conditioned comfort; and boasts not only an Infinity Pool set into an expansive deck and a Turret Roof Terrace with stunning sea and sunset views but its own Private Beach Garden with Children's Playground. The Castle is a wild and romantic retreat yet only minutes away from the sophistication and glamor of Punta.
The castle is close to the seasonal beach bars and is very well located for a wide range of activities from golf to horse riding and all the watersports.
GROUND FLOOR & GARDEN
Great Hall:approximately 5m x 3.5m the Great Hall is an impressive double height entrance hall that provides additional entertaining and living space with panoramic sea views across the deck towards Solanas Beach.
Entrance Courtyard: created to provide a further sheltered dining area seating up to 20.
Beach Side Deck: an expansive (48m x 30m) deck with plentiful seating around the Infinity Swimming Pool, a fully equipped Parilla - the famous Uruguayan barbeque - with its own covered outdoor dining area; leading down to the:
Private Beach Garden nestled in the dunes and well equipped Children's Playground.
Drawing Room: 5m x 3.5m with open fireplace, comfortable sofas, sea views and opening out onto the beach side deck.
Kitchen Breakfast Room: approximately 5m x 3.5m, a very well equipped kitchen equipped with a six-ring range cooker and all modern appliances including television and DVD and featuring a central island table seating eight.
Cloakroom: with toilet, bidet and basin. Outside Showers & Laundry Area.
Dining Room: approximately 5m x 3.5m with sea views and a large round dining table that comfortably seats 10.
Garden Safari Master Suite 5: approximately 5m x 3.8m, air-conditioned (as are all the bedrooms) with sea views and its own private deck; 1.6m raised bed with optional single bed. Two single wardrobes with internal drawers, desk/console table, chairs, television and DVD. Ensuite shower room with toilet and basin.

Grey Whales Master Suite 2: with sea views and two 1.6m raised beds; large double wardrobe and chest of drawers, desk/console table, occasional chairs, television and DVD. Ensuite shower room with toilet and basin.
Seaview Master Suite 3: with sea views and king size raised bed with optional single bed. Double French cupboard with hanging and draw space, console table, occasional chairs, TV and DVD. Ensuite shower room with toilet and basin.
Coral Master Suite 4: with raised bed and optional single bed. Large double wardrobe with chest of drawers, desk/console table, occasional chairs, television and DVD. Ensuite shower room with toilet and basin.
TURRET SUN DECK
Overlooking Solanas Beach the planted Turret Sun Deck has panoramic sea views and is equipped with sun loungers.
LOWER GROUND FLOOR
The Lower Ground Floor provides a further Television / Games Room with twin Sofa Beds, a Kitchenette and a self-contained Maid's Room.

There is a classic scene in every reality show where the cast is delighted to discover what an amazing home they will be living in. Our group of six had a similar experience wandering through this gorgeous castle for the first time. The rooms are nicely decorated, the living area is spacious. The infinity pool (although not heated) was a refreshing escape during the hot Uruguayan afternoons. I can't even begin to describe how amazing the sunsets are in this place....it's magic. And the cook, Shirley, is just lovely. A few things that could be better - for a house this large, it definitely needs faster internet speeds to meet the demands of adults trying to keep tabs on business back home. The house has several nooks that offer some privacy, but a few additional bushes to block the neighbors house next door would do wonders to transform this into a true oasis. The beach was lovely to walk along, but the water was a bit dirty due to its proximity to the Rio de Plata. Nonetheless, this place is amazing. You're staying in a beautiful, romantic castle on the beach, just minutes away from town. That simply can't be beat! I'd highly recommend you make this castle your own for a few days.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

Why the Owner Chose Punta del Este:
In 2005 we were seeking refuge from the harsh northern winter and discovered El Castillo whilst strolling the beach one morning and that was it! After the briefest of discussions I had secured my most unusual - and certainly most expensive - souvenir, and one that certainly couldn’t fit in a suitcase, let alone the plane home.
Punta Del Este is the South American Côte d'Azur, a unique blend of St Tropez and The Hamptons. Uruguay is South America's second smallest country and - for many Europeans like me - an undiscovered gem that the Argentines, Brazilians and Chileans have been keeping to themselves for many years. With a mild and temperate climate, stunning beaches, safe and welcoming streets, abundant wildlife and sophisticated night life Uruguay - literally the river of the colorful birds - is the country for all seasons.
