About the owner: I am a lady of much travelling, which includes living in Italy's capital of Rome for some years. Then a short move to Hong Kong, seeing Peking and the great wall. A return to my home city of London with it's history and cosmopolitan atmosphere. But the busy-ness of everyday life with it's constant stress prompted my to visit Normandy.
Here I found the summer musical festival of music held at Lessay Abbey, the piano recitals at the Manor of Gonfreville, not forgetting the many occations of choir oratorios in the Cathedrals of St Lo, Coutances, Carentan and Cherbourg.
Why the Owner Chose Ste.-Mere-Eglise: I fell inlove with the land of villages, some with old grey stone Norman farmhouses, others homes built with honey coloured granite and yet others built with ochre coloured cob cottages - clay taken from the gardens and built by the local farm workers many years ago. I also noticed the care of the many flower arrangments lovingly attended by the families of each village. Everywhere is simple charming, and I had to live here.
I retired nearly three years ago and love entertaining my, mostly American and Canadian, guests embibing them with the many delights and places of intrigue in this garden of memories in the Manche.
It is superbly situated in the heart of the D.Day battlfield area, being close to

The famous event of the 82nd and 101st Airbourne Parachute division are elebrated yearly with great entheusiasm when over 500 parachutists of several nations drop only 10 minutes from here by the river of the Merderet, St Mere Eglise. This is the site of the well known 'Iron Mike' Monument, which overlooks the whole event.
There are also markets everyday in any
direction from here within about 30 mins drive.
The Unique Benefits at this House: My house sits on the skirts of the village, but near enough to hear the distant bells of our Norman church of Coigny with the monument to Francois de Franquetot duc et premier marechal de Coigny 1670 - 1759 in the family chapel.
Althought one can enjoy a peacful nights sleep the D903 road is about half a mile away and connects us with all of the main routes to the rest of the Manche.
