We spent a wonderful weekend with family in this amazing cottage. Great amenities, a short walk from the beach, beautifully secluded location but close enough to town to get whatever you may need. We will definitely go back & highly suggest you reserve this home while you can!Owner response: We are glad that you and your family enjoyed your recent stay with us. We are thrilled that folks appreciate the secluded nature of the setting while being close enough to enjoy surrounding activities that really makes our cottage special and keeps wonderful renters coming back again. Thanks for the kind words and let me know when you'd like to schedule for next season!

My college friends and I enjoyed our long weekend in October. It is a steep walk down and up the stairs to the rock covered beach. So, it might not be great for small children. But, for adults, it was great. Only one other thing you might want to know. There is no real TV reception at the house. Normally, this would be great. We didn't drive to Michigan to watch TV. However, it was a World Series and Notre Dame game...and some of the guys were interested in keeping an eye on the score. We had to go into town (a five minute drive) and sit at the bar to do that. Not a real problem, just and FYI. Location and condition of the house was fantastic.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

I love this cottage! From the beginning of the process working with Jen, I knew this was the right place for me. She was delightful and accommodating to work with! This home is tucked back at the edge of the woods on a dead end road just steps from the lakefront. The home is pristine, nicely appointed and had a great vibe. The patio and amenities were pefect for a nice, quiet dinner on the patio listening to the rustle of the fall trees. The bedrooms were cozy and comfortable and overall, it was a lovely weekend out of the city...rain and all! I look forward to a return visit soon!Did you find this review helpful? We really enjoyed our stay at this South Haven cabin! The place was nicer than it appeared in pictures; the kitchen, in particular, was quite new. We especially loved the outdoor fireplace! The home felt really secluded but we had the comfort of knowing that there were neighbors nearby. My friend's seven-year-old was so excited to have his own room, and he especially loved the very short walk to the private beach, which was beautiful! South Haven is a 10-15 minute drive to Saugatak, which is where we spent one of our days...it was nice to come home to the comfy home and cook dinner after a day out.Recommended for: Families with young children.

We have been going to South Haven for over 20 years, but this is our first at the this lake house. What a great little spot. Not too far from town, or public beaches where the teenagers like to hang out, but secluded enough for adults with a woodsy surrounding, and the private beach just a 2 minute walk away. We saw some crazy wildlife too, at the beach a couple of buzzards cleaning up the beach, however, the coolest thing was the wild turkey in the back with 3 baby chicks. We had 3 teenage girls, 1 dog, and 2 adults, more than enough room. I also loved the lack of cable television, made the kids have some real fun. The property was clean and updated. The kitchen was well equipped, and the outdoor gas grill was perfect for barbecuing. Jen was great to deal with, whether by phone, or email, easy to get a hold of and a good communicator. We had a great lunch at Brix an outdoor pizza grill, and dinner at Su Casa's, good Mexican food. We would definitely come back here again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My wife and I enjoyed the stay very much. The house was very clean and neat. The 4+ miles to town was not a problem. The stairs to the beach (we counted 151) was a lot but by now means too difficult. The surroundings were so quit, it was one of the most peaceful vacations we ever took. This is not the first house we have rented in the South Haven area but it is one of our top 2. The only negatives were there was no TV reception and the internet wireless had to be reset every day. We hope you enjoy it too.Owner response: Thanks so much for the recommendation. The connectivity issues were the result of the privacy we enjoy so much. Many of our tenants love it for the peacefulness and the opportunity to get away from all the hustle and bustle that often consumes our lives. Currently, we have found solutions to rectify these issue as we are always finding new ways to improve upon our property. Thanks for the input!

My favorite part of this lovely place was to just sit in a rocking chair in the lovely cool yard. Many tall trees contributed to the privacy and graciousness of the yard. It was such a treat to just sit and read a book rather than worrying about yard work or housecleaning. The beach ws beautiful, but stony. I would definitely recommend bringing along beach shoes in order to walk more easily on the stones. As it turned out, the 170+ stairs were not a problem. We were there for three weeks and each day the steps seemed a little bit easier, although it was still a cardiac exercise at the end. There were also several nice golf cluba near-by. Our favorite restaurant was Phil's in Saugatuck. Other than that, we cooked at home most nights. The gas grill had a real work-out. We walked part of the trail that goes from Kalamazoo to South Haven. That definitely shouldn't be missed. If you should happen to run out of books as we did, there is an amazing used bookstore downtown. TEverything was as it appeared to be in the photos. There's everything you might want as far as beach towels and toys.Jen is great. We had a couple little problems and she took care of them immediately without any trouble. She was very easyto deal with. I have already recommended this property to friends. I would recommend bringing along a bedside clock, since those are not supplied. Telephone is by cell-phone only. I'd also advise bringing along a radio. We also had good luck with using our cell-phone as a radio. There are DVD's and various sorts of games available. Everything you might want is provided. It felt more like staying in someone's home than renting a cottage.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks so much for staying with us and for letting me know when a couple of things needed improvement. We've improved upon the details you mentioned. Your review really says it all about why our tenants love this location.

This cottage was wonderful! It was secluded enough to have that "get-away-from-it-all" feeling but close enough to the beach that we could walk. The backyard is an oasis of trees. The home itself is beautiful -- modern, clean, just as described. The owners thought of everything -- extra towels, washer and dryer, extra blankets, a grill, a peaceful hammock in the back. The owners were kind and accommodating throughout the entire process. They were a pleasure to work with. It's clear they put a lot of TLC into this house. The private beach access was a plus. The weather was a little gloomy when we went, but we were still able to spend time at the beach. For much of the day, we were the only ones there! It was quiet and serene, which is exactly what we were looking for. On our last day, we went to the lighthouse in South Haven, which is worth checking out, even if it's on your way home. We would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice, peaceful vacation. We are definitely considering a repeat visit next year!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your amazingly kind remarks. We're glad you found us and appreciated all of the passion we've poured into our 'lil slice o' heaven'! Grateful Owners

We had a wonderful time at the Lake Cottage. The owners were professional and very helpful. They even did some research for us on where to rent a crib for our baby during our stay. The house was very clean and cozy. The house was stocked with ever household item possibly needed. The outside property was my personal favorite. The grounds are semi wooded with a private drive-way at the end of the road. There was plenty of privacy. The patio had nice outdoor funiture, a gas grille and a nearby hammock that well used during our stay. The short walk to the beach was delightful and we had the beach to ourselves most of the time. All in all I would recommend this property to family and friends and we will defintely stay there again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks so much for your kind words. So glad you enjoyed your stay. Looking forward to renting to you again. Take care, the TLC owners
