Camp David- Quiet, Charming & Beautiful 2 Bedroom Cabin on the Little Red River
- Minimum stay:2-7 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
This beautiful cabin nestled in a wooded area on the Little Red River near Pangburn. “Camp David” offer guests a perfect getaway place for personal discovery or recreation. The cabin’s rustic charm blends with its natural surroundings and the location offers a feeling of seclusion yet it is conveniently located to the towns of Pangburn and Heber Springs and their plentiful options for outdoor recreation, unique shopping and dining.
The exterior of the cabin is Cypress with a metal roof (great on rainy days), features two great decks overlooking the river, a screened in porch with a daybed that is ideal for napping or sleeping to the sounds of the outdoors. A rock walkway leads you to your private boat and fishing dock where you can catch trout in your own backyard or just sit and enjoy the river and watch the trout rise and meet the two winged residents that include geese, ducks, kingfishers, bald eagles and great blue heron.
Beautiful Space: The interior is professionally decorated and features beautiful tongue & groove pine throughout; it is extremely comfortable and offers all the conveniences & style of contemporary living. The cabin has 2 bedrooms, each with a queen bed. There are 1 ½ baths, an incredible living space with an awesome fireplace. The couch doubles as a pull out queen bed, (couples use it even when they are the only guests to enjoy sleeping by the fire), and the cabin has a small perfectly appointed kitchen and adjoining dining area that seats six. The cabin will accommodate up to 2 couples or a single family. You can sleep seven if you use the pullout sofa & sleeping porch. This place is so cozy and romantic you will not want to leave.
Gateway to the Ozarks: Whether sporting or relaxing this Little Red River getaway is the perfect home base from which to enjoy the River Valley. While known for its world class trout fishing, this cabin is conveniently located at the gateway to the Ozarks, should you desire to venture out for some incredible Arkansas day trips. However, you don’t have to go anywhere; the nearby town of Pangburn (Pop. 601) is 2 minutes away. It has a grocery store; you can rent movies and Pangburn has a few restaurants including Southern Girls BBQ and a pizza and burger joint that delivers to the cabin. Heber Springs & Greers Ferry Lake with its quaint little shops and art galleries is only 15 minutes away. Heber has a hip coffee shop called the Jitterbug Coffee House where you can work the community jigsaw puzzle. The Gem Theater shows current feature films. Heber Springs has lots of dining options.
Local Flavor: We often recommend Café Klazer; located on the bank of the river below Swinging Bridge (Barnett Access) they serve a signature stuffed steak that is famous in these parts! Klazer’s also has a bar (private membership) & often features local musicians to entertain you. Greer’s Ferry Lake is also only 15 minutes away from so if you desire “big water” you can rent a boat or launch yours at Dam Site Marina and spend a day on the lake. At “Camp David” you can read & relax while enjoying the sights and sounds of the wildlife or fish the World Class Trout Waters of the Little Red River in your backyard. Nap in a hammock, sit by the fire or you may venture out and enjoy everything the area has to offer…it’s your time you can do everything or just enjoy doing nothing. If you would like help in planning your trip & to make a reservation please call or email us.

We arrived Sunday afternoon and fell in love immediately. We could see a welcoming light on through the window as we entered the driveway... the door was open and the key on the table just as we had been informed it would be. Monday morning we awoke to a chill in the air and built a cozy fire in the beautiful fireplace...and in front of that fire is where we took our morning coffee!! The cabin was well "appointed" and we lacked for nothing! We took several trips in to Heber Springs and on one of those days we fished Greer's Ferry Lake... not even a nibble. One day we fished off the dock at the cabin and again no nibbles!! But the fun was in the trying and I know now I should have talked to David and found out how you catch those trout off of their dock!! We rode up to Mountain View and stopped at every antique/flea market we saw and even brought some of that "stuff" home with us!! To make it short we had an awesome time and when it was time to leave my two sisters had to pry my hands off of the door frame and carry me kicking and screaming "I don't want to go" to the car!! (LOL) If you are considering "Camp David" you will not be disappointed!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: I am delighted that you and your sisters enjoyed your "rivertime". Yes, you should have asked about fishing for trout off the "Camp David" dock! Next trip I will let you in on the secret to success and chances are you will catch your limit of beautiful rainbow and brown trout.

We stayed at Camp David during the spring months. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. We were able to bring our 11 year old golden retriever who is a river dog. We brought our own food and had no reason to leave the great cabin and property. We were very impressed with the wood floors throughout, which if you have allergies, you know how carpet can make a trip miserable. The cabin had everything we needed plus other amenities such as wifi and cable which we didn't have to have, but it was a plus. David was great in giving us a few fishing tips and we actually caught some rainbows right from the pier. We enjoyed the outside seating areas and also the screened in porch which was great for the thunderstorms we endured the first night. We were able to take a stroll down the main road for morning walks. Everything about this place was peaceful. We highly recommend staying at Camp David if you want to see God's beautiful scenery and have some peace and quiet.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Spring is a great season to spend some time at the river. Now that I think about it Summer is awesome too when the cool breezes come off the cold river provide a repreive grom the heat. Fall is fantastic when the trees change colors and the migrating waterfowl arrive. Winter is my favorite time with the smell of the wood and the warmth of the cabins beautiful floor to ceiling fireplace. Mmmmm anytime is a good time for some river time. Hurry back and thanks for your kind review.

This place exceeded my expectations, which were already high after reading other reviews. My husband and I spent the weekend celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary, and it was a wonderful, relaxing place to celebrate it. The place was very clean and furnished with everything you would need. Our favorite feature of the cabin was the giant woodburning fireplace, and we kept a fire going the entire time we were there. We also sat on the deck by the river to watch the fish jump and listen to the sounds of the rushing current. We read books and watched movies in front of the fire. Heber Springs is a short drive, and Searcy is also close, so you have options for restaurants, if you want to eat out. David was very responsive to any questions I asked before the trip, and he even sent an email while we were there to make sure we didn't have any problems. My husband remarked that this cabin had everything he would want in a dream home: a large fireplace, a view and access to water, a large screened porch, a nice loft bedroom, and a great atmosphere. We hope to be back soon!!Owner response: We are delighted you enjoyed the cabin and experiened the fireplace. Thank you for your kind comments. Please plan your return visit in the Spring when the flowers bloom and the humingbirds return. Spring fishing is incredible on the Little Red River.

We were suppose to arrive on Christmas day, flying in from Houston, but all the afternoon flights were cancelled and rescheduled for the 27th. We rented a 4 door sedan & got stuck in David's neighbors driveway after passing his house. Then we couldn't find the driveway to the cabin because everything was covered in snow. In attempting to get in the drive we got stuck again. We called David on his cell phone & he was awesome in giving in town directions and money to buy a shovel, then called is neighbors to see if they were home to help us out. I don't think my husband has ever shoveled snow :) The property is beautiful inside & out. We had a fire in the fireplace every night. I built 2 sad looking snowmen because I am so out of snow practice. There were so many birds in the back yard and we saw 6 geese in the lake. We have been back home 1 night and I'm wishing we could go back. I don't think I have ever slept so good. Thank you David, for your hospitality, for sharing your home, and for being available & accommodating.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

For the second time during the fall season, we had a quiet cabin stay with our little chihuahua. We lodge for the week, so it feels like staying as guests at a friend's home while they are away. On long vacations, it's always great to have your own washer and dryer, satellite, and wireless on top of a generously equipped kitchen (with a number of emergency pantry extras). The bed is surprising comfortable on my achy back, has plenty of big and fluffy pillows, and the softest velvety sheets. We come for the solitude, fishing, and that fieldstone fireplace that runs up to the ceiling. It has a construction that just fascinates me. With a collection of simple entertainment choices, this time we even played some Scrabble. If the electricity were to go out, there would be plenty of intellectual entertainment like a variety of word games, books on identifying birds, Indigenous tribal history, fishing, and a number of fictional novels. With so many extras, if you came with nothing, you could survive a little while — but don't do that. We arrive heavily packed with a choice of our own conveniences to last the week, plus emergency rations just in case. Too bad we can't get snowed in with a blizzard! During our visits we have seen (and heard) flocks of geese, cranes, birds of prey down at the river, and various finches and so many cardinals at the bird feeder. Possibly a squirrel tore down part of the suet feeder at the back porch when it ran out. Once there was an elk or moose bellowing about something. Also, we have seen some kind of mink running around, and down on the river bank, tracks for a herd of deer. Downstream we saw a fly fisherman get lucky while for us, so far, cast fishing has brought in small trout and a large catfish. Last time a torrential rain cut off access to our fishing equipment left out at the pier overnight. The river rose well above the walkway, so if you want to take it back with you, better watch the weather. Clean, cozy and very accommodating. Thanks for sharing. The only bad part is having to leave and head back to reality.Owner response: It feels like you are at a friends cabin because you are. You are officially a friend of "Camp David". The winter months are a wonderful time to visit and enjoy the wildlife. On the rare occasions snow is in the forecast we head up to the cabin hoping to get snowed in ourselves. Hurry back and thanks for posting such a nice review. ~David

My husband and I had a great time here. Our dog loved it too! Right on the water in a secluded area. Very relaxing and the fireplace was wonderful at night!Owner response: Thank you for your review. Winter is a beautiful time of the year to enjoy the cabin. The fireplace is mesmerizing and beacons you to cozy up in the cabin. However, the Trumpeter Swans annual visit to nearby Magnus Lake are a magnificent sight (only minutes from the cabin). This unique opportunity will lure you out to see, hear & feed them over and over again. They are the largest bird native to North America and listening to their trumpet like calls reminds me of an orchestra tuning up. Just awesome.

Cabin was really nice and picture perfect. We only stayed two days but plan to come back. Screened porch, fishing pier, front porch were great. Caught and released rainbow trout from the pier which was really nice.Owner response: We are glad you enjoyed you time at the cabin & that you plan to return soon. The next few months provide a wonderful time to be at the river. The Trumpeter Swans will be making their annual visit along with a myriad of migrating waterfowl along with the bald eagles. The fishing is great and there is nothing like relaxing by the beautiful fireplace in the cabin on a cold night. Hurry back!

This place exceeded my expectations again and again! The cabin was soooo clean and it was stocked with everything we needed. Every morning was spent on the deck with a cup of coffee and a good book. In the evenings we fished, grilled out and made smores with the kids. The highlight of our trip was cliff jumping into Greers Ferry Lake at Dam Site Park...we had so much fun! But the cabin was a perfect, QUIET getaway from our very busy lives! We're thinking of returning in the fall/winter when we can use that gorgeous fireplace. :)Owner response: Thank you for posting a review for "Camp David". The fall is one of the best times to enjoy the river and the wonderful fireplace. Lots of migrating waterfowl use the river and the fishing is often at its best. We hope you will make a return vist. ~ David
