A Month in Paradise!
A Month in Paradise!
Spending a month in this idyllic spot was all and more than we had hoped for. Family and friends joined us over the time and even as native Montanans were stunned by the beauty, the hospitality and the proximity to so many beautiful places. Ben, Julie and family saw to our every need and helped us with suggestions and fresh produce! We were fortunate to experience the local Amish community and were just minutes away from everywhere we wanted to be! This month really allowed us to return to a simple, unstressful lifestyle. The beauty of the Mission Mountain valley is unsurpassed and you can be assured of a wonderful experience at Foothill Farm. We can't say enough about our hosts as well. Consider a month if at all possible!!!!

What an amazing and beautiful place. My partner and I were lucky enough to spend three great nights at the farm cabin and loved everything about it. Ben was extremely friendly, super helpful, and had some great recommendations about the area. We were able to split our time between Glacier, the Bison Range, Flathead Lake, and Missoula thanks to the great location of the cabin. Our trip lasted only three days, but thanks to the quiet relaxing calm of the cabin and it's amazing views, it felt like we spent months away from busy southern California. We would definitely recommend staying here, and plan on staying again the next time we find ourselves in Montana.

The site is magnificent, the cottage charming, but it should be stressed that this is a working farm with a large number of chickens and roosters. We were awakened before dawn every day with crowing roosters, who carried on for two hours or more. Also, there were excessive numbers of flies, literally hundreds of them inside the cottage, I suppose due to the proximity of many farm animals. The owners could have been more friendly and the cottage lacked adequate facilities or instruction for placement of garbage. In addition, the refrigerator was too small. Otherwise, our experience was a good one.

Owner response: james, thanks so much for your review and we're glad you enjoyed your stay. very sorry about the roosters. they were indeed a rowdy bunch but are now gone. we could have moved them had we known they were bothering you. in terms of the flies, that happens when you have exposed wooden beams in any such space. we use fly strips and bug bombs if need be. again, we could have addressed it had we known. i'm sorry we didn't seem friendly, harvest time is always busy for us but we try to have fun along the way and always have a smile on our face. yes the fridge is small as is the garbage pail because we don't intend on having large parties. certainly not over six but again, had we known you needed garbage removed we certainly would have taken care of it. thanks again for your visit. we enjoyed meeting you!
My family consist of 3 young boys ages 9-5 a 3 month old little girl,my wife and me. We rented the cabin over Christmas and had a blast. Ben and Julie are such accommodating host! My family enjoyed the whole week we stayed in the cabin. Everything inside was better than described. We had no issues with anything in the cabin. The views are amazing. I so loved this part of Montana. The mission valley has to be one of the prettiest spots in the state. Nothing is better than sitting by the fire with a cup of fresh made coffee and looking at those snow covered peaks. Ben even let my boys borrow his daughters sleds to go play in the snow! That was a blessing. That's all they have talked about since we returned home. I give this rental my highest recommendation. I would go back tomorrow! Thanks again P.S. the cleanist cabin I have ever been in.

Rejuventaing, idyllic stay
Rejuventaing, idyllic stay
For the past month, I've woken up and had breakfast on my porch watching the sun rise over the Mission Mountains. At night, the stars are so bright that they shine through the windows. The closest lake is a mile away; there are several more within 10 miles, not counting Flathead Lake, the largest lake west of the Mississippi. Not far from the cabin, there's a dairy cow that gets milked every morning, pigs that clean up the scraps from the night before, and an insane number of wildflowers. Town is only a few miles away, where one can meet loads of friendly people who would love to give directions to the best waterfall or fly-fishing spots. And, Ben and Julie are warm and attentive hosts. Will be coming back, frequently.

Beautiful spot with great hosts!
Beautiful spot with great hosts!
My wife and I stayed for a night in late June, and our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer! The cabin is very cool, and the view is unbeatable. We also did a quick hike nearby on the advice of the owner that has great views of a number of waterfalls. If you are looking for a quiet spot with a ton of charm, this is the place for you. The owners and their daughter could not have been more gracious and welcoming, and we hope to visit again.
