One of 16 unique homes built by famed architect Frank Folsom Smith, on property formerly owned by the long-time resident, Conrad family.

The fully equipped gourmet kitchen has a cooking island and a breakfast nook. For more genteel entertaining, the exquisitely decorated living/dining room beckons. Leading to the main terrace looking out towards the Gulf, the living/dining room is the perfect place to dine and converse with friends and family. A very warm welcome by the property manager, John, who could not have been more helpful. The house was exactly as advertised, amenities abound, and the attention to detail was superb. Glad to have the security of an alarm to put on at night and while away from the house. Remember to turn it off before you open the door to the terrace from the master bedroom (sorry John)! The beach is mere minutes away on foot, the communal pool area is very well equipped and was barely used by the neighboring guests for the duration of our stay. Spoiled for choice as far as restaurants go on LBK as well as further down the coast at St Armands Circle. Mar Vista in particular is excellent both in terms of service, and food quality and is the nearest restaurant to the house (we walked one night but wouldn't recommend it as there are no street lights so had to use a flashlight app on our phones to find our way home...). Blue Dolphin cafe is a must for breakfast even though they no longer have their famous Red Savina hot sauce available. Our stay was exactly what we wanted - a week of pure relaxation. The home is beautiful, comfortable and well maintained. The location was ideal, quiet upscale residential area, steps to miles of beautiful sandy beach, short drive to the golf course, St Armand's Circle and grocery store. We enjoyed a visit to Myakka River State Park and the Canopy Walk, were amazed by the attractions of the John and Mable Ringling Estate Museums and thoroughly enjoyed a day of deep sea fishing with Fishburger Charters.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

We had such a great time in this beautiful house. It is very well equipped with all the amenities. The rooms are large, plenty of bathrooms, and with the large washer and dryer there, I was happy to come home with clean clothes. The house is just as pictured, and a very short walk to the beach, much shorter than we even expected. The beach is spectacular, the sunsets were breathtaking. We saw dolphins during sunset, and rented a boat one day nearby. The pool is just steps out the back door, and we basically had it to ourselves. The grounds are kept up really nice. We wanted to find a place that would be relaxing and allow us to enjoy the company of our three grown children for a vacation getaway and the Conrad Cabana met our expectations and more! The home was as described with lovely decor and everything needed to enjoy the home and beach. The accommodations were spacious and comfortable for the five of us. John, who greeted us on arrival, was so helpful, providing instructions and suggestions on things to do. The fresh flowers and fruit that were there to greet us were also a nice touch. A very thorough three ring binder was also available that truly covered everything from A-Z. We added a few menus from some of the local places that we enjoyed. One in particular was the Starfish Company Dockside restaurant, a delicious place and very casual. We enjoyed deep sea fishing with Captain Todd of Hot Reel Charters located at the Cortez Fishing Center. We had everything needed to prepare our fresh catch at the house. We also spent time shopping at St. Armand's Circle and there are many restaurants to enjoy there as well. One downside was that the grocery store that is on Longboat Key was closed and being rebuilt. To obtain groceries required about a 20 minute drive to Winn Dixie or Publix so make a list of things you'll need for the week. The home is on three levels so there are a lot of stairs but we did not find that to be a problem other than on the first day of carrying heavy suitcases up to the bedrooms located on the third level.There were three balconies, one off the back and two off the front, on the living room level and on the third level master suite, all were nice places to enjoy morning coffee and evening breezes. I was mildly disappointed that we didn't have a view of the gulf but the public beach was a five minute walk from the house. We would load the large wheeled wagon (which was awesome) with our gear needed for the day at the beach and we were close enough to go back home if needed. We have such nice memories and would recommend this property if you want to get away to relax but still want to have the option of being close to plenty of nearby activities. We were thrilled to see the property when we arrived as it looked as beautiful in person as it did in the pictures. John, the property manager, met us, helped with our luggage and welcomed us with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a delicious bowl of fresh fruit. He spent time going over all the features of the professionally decorated home and answered any questions that we had regarding the property and the surrounding area. We loved the furnishings. They were as comfortable as they were attractive. The living room and balcony provided wonderful light during the day while the family room was comfortable to read in and to watch television. The pool and beach were great as well. The pool perfectly heated and very private used by the residents of the complex. There were never more than 6 people using it at any one time. The neighbors that were there were welcoming and friendly and a delight. The beach was a 1/2 block away and provided a wonderful morning walk. The proximately to restaurants and shops on both Longboat and Bradenton Beach was excellent. We loved being at the quiet end of Longboat away from the congestion yet within a few minutes you can have all that St. Armands or Sarasota has to offer. This is a wonderful home for those that want comfort and don't mind walking stairs. There are three flights of stairs connecting the entryway, the main living area and the bedrooms. The house is well stocked but does not have hairdryers which we would recommend for the bathrooms. We would definitely recommend this house to friends or family.Did you find this review helpful?
