Phippsburg house description

This charming, tasteful, non-smoking, contemporary home perched on the edge of beautiful Brighams Cove offers lovely views from every window. This is the 8th year it's been rented and visitors have told us it was much more than they ever expected. See reviews.

As most public beaches do not allow dogs during the summer season, we provide a pass for our guests to a nearby (10 min.) beautiful secluded sandy beach for your water loving dogs.

We are within minutes of numerous amenities such as beaches, state parks, museums, theaters, zip-lining, World-Class shopping, antiquing, etc....yet situated on a dramatic, quiet wooded site with stairs and ramps leading down to the entrance. Located within an hour drive for easy day trips to points of interest such as Boothbay Harbor, Freeport (home of L.L. Bean) and the historic Old Port in Portland for an active night life.

Immediately outside the floor to ceiling windows lies the quaint picturesque Brighams Cove dotted with lobster boats, motorboats, sail boats, kayaks and canoes. There are water views from all rooms that are truly breathtaking!

The focal point of activity is the large sun deck overlooking Brighams Cove with panoramic views of the islands of Winnegance Bay. The deck leads down to a private pier and float with ladder for a relaxing day of swimming, boating, kayaking and fishing in the deep water cove, known for having the warmest waters along the Maine coast (Down East Magazine).

Immediately upon entering the home you are on the 2nd floor tiled foyer overlooking the open concept 1st floor living / dining room and the water beyond. The galley kitchen with granite countertops, highend induction cooktop and stainless steel appliances overlooks the living / dining area and Brighams Cove. The first floor vaulted ceiling rises to the open second floor master bedroom suite with its fully contained bathroom, including soaking tub/shower and comtempory sink. The master bedroom is complimented with a small viewing balcony to enjoy the ocean breezes and the lovely views. This home is truly pristine inside & out and has so many wonderful amenities. You will not be disappointed!

The first floor bedroom off the living area is clearly a favorite. Its panoramic views take in Perrys Cove, Brighams Cove, and Winnegance Bay with a turn of the head. Two California twin beds provide sleeping for two.

The hot tub off the living area is a great place to relax with a evening coctail. It is perched on a rock cliff under a huge pine tree with spectacular views of Brighams Cove, Perrys Cove and Winnegance Bay. At night the lights of Cundy's Harbor can be seen across the bay.

We were looking for (and desperately needed) to spend a week as close to the water as we could without actually being on a boat. Jim's and David's home provided tranquility without isolation. We knew Maine weather in September is unpredictable and we wanted a virtual guarentee that if it rained, our indoor experience would meet our need see the water. As it turned out, it didn't rain and we were in our kayaks every day. That said, the house leaves nothing to either imagination or to be desired. From wine glasses to a library filled with books that I have either enjoyed or plan to enjoy, from the floor to ceiling, light-filled waterfront windows, to the unexpectedly comfortable mattress, we felt well-cared for. I should not have been surprised. When we pulled in, we were greeted by Jim, David, and Gil,their next door neighbor and the conversation started through the car window as I was parking. That conversation continued as Jim insisted on helping us removed and carry down to the docks our kayaks. They are engaging and engaged and concerned home owners whose home reflects loving attention to detail. By now, you can safely assume that this home is on our top 5 choices of all our past rental experiences (USVI, Topsail Beach, Martha's Vineyard, Ogunquit). But, don't hurry to reserve your week - we want to ensure we get a place next season first!

I take my vacations very seriously and this was, by far, the best place I ever stayed. The pictures and description don't fully do it justice. The owners take great pains to make sure the home is emmaculate and peaceful. No detail of comfort is overlooked. It is an incredible place to relax and renew. The location is private, the view spectacular. If you ever want to explore the area there is so much to do a week isn't enough. Minutes from Popham Beach and Fort Popham which are the most beautiful beaches on the Maine coast. Bath, Freeport, Topsham and Brunswick also offer all kinds of shopping and restaurants. I can't help but think I am shooting myself in the foot by telling everybody about it because I am counting the minutes until I go back. For two weeks this time............ Cindi Newton Milford, NH

15 Brighamton Lane was a delightful spot for my family of four (plus a dog) to stay this summer. It was immaculately clean, offered gorgeous views of Brigham's Cove (including from the outdoor hot tub!), a really strong wifi network and friendly and responsive owners. The deck with seating and grill and pretty dock were also beautiful. And the location was perfect for us -- near enough to Bath for shopping and dining, and ideal access by water to Cundy's Harbor, Sebasco and the Basin. There are also tons of storage and closets for a family of four. The cottage design is a little quirky -- the one shower is in the corner of the master bedroom, not enclosed in a bathroom. But this didn't bother us a bit. The spacious communal area -- living room/dining room with sectional sofa and stunning views -- more than made up for that. Thank you for a wonderful week!

I highly recommend this property! My husband, his 14-year-old son and his best friend, our two dogs and myself spent a week at this rental and it was absolutely delightful! The owners are incredibly helpful and responsive to needs (we mentioned needing a frying pan and they had a set on the porch for us the following morning!), and just overall nice, helpful people. The house is in a perfect location for exploring the Maine coast -- Bath is a quaint little town with lots of shops and restaurants, and you're not far from Portland, Wiscassett (home of Reds Eats... largest, most delicious lobster rolls in ME), Boothbay Harbor, etc. We spent a lot of time in hot tub on the deck -- such a gorgeous setting for enjoying it! The only slight drawback for me was that the water off and surrounding the dock is pretty seaweedy, so we didn't actually swim off the dock at the house (or have our dogs swim there). HOWEVER, that said, the owners have graciously supplied a pass to a local beach which allows dogs, and they loved every minute of it! AND, we spent a good deal of time at Popham Beach right down the road, easily one of the best beaches I've ever been to -- GORGEOUS views with great tides allowing for very successful sand dollar / shell hunting. The house itself is beautiful and very comfortable, incredibly clean and well-maintained. We would definitely recommend this property to others and hope to visit ourselves again in the future. It's so nice to find a gem of a property like this that allows (and really caters to) people with dogs. Thanks so much!

My wife and I had a wonderful time there. The place is stunningly beautiful and quiet. As it's right above the water, we spent large amounts of time just reading on the dock or in front of the window. It comes with a family of Ospreys just down the cove and wonderful kayaking from the dock. The house is very airy and comfortable and includes a hot tub which my wife put to good use. We were very happy to be able to bring our dog, although the house is so clean it looks like it has never had a pet in it. In all, it was great to be there and we look forward to returning.

We have rented a number of properties on the Maine coast and elsewhere through VRBO and this one was the best! As great as it looks in the pictures, it is much more beautiful and restful feeling in person. The wall of glass with the water just a few feet beyond it dominates the room and the three double glass doors make it feel almost like a screen porch. The first three days of our week were grey and a bit rainy. We didn't care. We hung out in the house with the screen doors open and just read and relaxed. It was great! We rented kayaks from Seaspray Kayaking in West Bath. Scott, the owner, delivered our kayaks right to the private dock Sunday morning. We kayaked everyday, even the rainy ones, right from the dock. It was beautiful. I saw various ducks and seabirds, a number of great blue herons very close up, an eagle and, most exciting, a seal about 20 feet away from me in Winnegance Bay. This is a very well appointed and extremely clean property. Unlike some rentals, the furniture both looks nice AND is really comfortable. We brought movies to watch at night and this is first rental I've every had that had a decent setup for that. The kitchen had everything we needed although admittedly we did very little food preparation. I didn't think I was a hot tub person until I got into the one here. It is on a small deck off the living room separate from the main deck and overlooks the water. We jumped in everyday after kayaking - which can be a little tough on the lower back. What an wonderful experience! I think this house is best for a couple. It is very open with the master bedroom open to the living room below and the bathroom very integrated into the master bedroom. There is a second bedroom which is very comfortable and has its own lovely view but there will not be a great deal of privacy for anyone. As another reviewer mentioned, one needs to be able to negotiate stairs easily as the house entrance, bedroom and bath are on the upper level and there is a long flight of stairs down to the main living area. The owner, Jim, lives nearby. He is exceptionally friendly and accommodating. I mentioned the need for some hooks in the bathroom and an extension cord near the bed. Both were installed the very next day. Great place! I can't say enough good things about it.

As soon as we walked in, we were highly impressed. The views of Brighams Cove on Winnegance Bay are beautiful--all week long! We enjoyed the hot tub, the deck and grill, and laying on the floating dock at night gazing at the stars. Although there are neighbors nearby, the woods made the place feel secluded, which we appreciated. The area is gorgeous, and the location provides a great base camp to visit Portland, Freeport (L.L. Been, etc.), Boothbay Harbor, Rockland, Belfast, Camden, Acadia, etc. We had heard that Maine has lots of mosquitoes, but this was NOT our experience. Although the property is described as "pet friendly," we noticed no odors and had no allergy problems at all--the place was clean. The house itself is beautiful, especially the entry. The only negatives that my family experienced was the shower unit which is located in the master bedroom--separated from the toilet and sink (which is convenient that these are separate). One must step up into the shower and then done a couple step into it. Therefore, it may not be good for geriatrics or folks with knee problems. (I did not see the shower as any real problem, but my wife thought it a bit cumbersome). Also, if you have a problem walking steps, you may not want to rent this property; there are about 15 steps that lead down into the beautiful; main living area from the upstairs. HOUSE SUMMARY: Loved the house, loved the views, loved the area. Our first vacation to Maine was wonderful! I would definitely stay at this property again. TRAVELLERS RECOMMENDATIONS: 5 Islands Lobster Company in Georgetown, Acadia (maybe twice), Freeport, Portland Headlight, Boothbay Harbor (DON'T expect to see a whale if doing the whalewatch cruise; I did see a small whale on the Puffin Cruise, which was cool), Camden, Belfast, Riverview Grill Restaurant blueberrry pancakes in Ellsworth, Reid State Park (Most Beautiful Beach in Maine--and that is not just my opinion). Also, Jim has a pass to the Totman Preserve beach--nice private beach. HAVE FUN!

We rented this house last summer for the first time. When we walked in the main entrance on the second floor, it literally took our breath away looking down at the living area with the beautiful ocean right outside the windows and every corner we turned delighted us even more! We felt instantly at home and while we got the one rainy week of the whole summer, we had a blast and were sad to see the week come to an end. Looking forward to getting this winter behind us so we can get back there again!
