Your Maine home has been Magic
It was so nice that you bought the TV so we could enjoy the Olympics- that was wonderful. The hummingbirds have been very hungry. This batch (aug28th) has been the fourth...We have been constantly entertained. The Kitchen is wonderfully equipped. We have enjoyed many meals on the screened porch, the sunsets have been spectacular. Sasha, our Standard Poodle, has been constantly amused with the wildlife from her stand on the deck. you have a great house. Happy Summer 2012

I cannot say anything but Superlatives.Guest comment entered by manager
I cannot say anything but Superlatives.
I rented Nancy Morris' house in Blue Hill Maine from July through September in 2010 and cannot say anything but superlatives. The home is brand new, fully equipped, incredibly comfortable. It is at the end of a long road perched on a bluff over the river with absolutely to die for sunsets. The screened in porch allowed dinners on the deck as well as reading in the summer breeze, or sitting by the wood fire inside if a bit chilly. The Blue Library is fantastic, but best of all is Kniessel Hall - where weekly chamber music concerts are given by both the world class faculty and their equally gifted and carefully chosen students - at $10 for 4 hours of music. Hiking in Mt Desert Island, painting classes on Deere Island, sailing , lobsters - to die for!!!!

In the eighties I had the great fortune to spend time sailing the coast of Maine. I fell in love with it. The Granite, The spruce, the way of life. Often when the weather was foggy we'd sail with the tidal bore on the Bagaduce River all the way up to the reversing falls, unstep the mast, and slip under the bridge(after an ice cream cone at Bagaduce lunch). The world that opened up on the river was magical and I've been drawn to it for years. I came to know the near by village of Blue Hill and was fascinated by the combination of traditional coastal Maine community and it's sophistication in the Arts and Music. It felt like a perfect place. In 1999 I found a five acre piece of land on the river, spent a few summers camping on it just to find the perfect place for a house. Following the sun, watching many a spectacular sunset and finding the best views I began building 3 years ago. With the help of an architect this well designed cottage is a dream come true.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I have found my time at the house feels like a retreat. It is peaceful and beautiful and I can rejuvenate. I paint and often bring my portable pottery wheel that I set up in the basement with windows and acts as a great studio. The wonderful part about this retreat is that within 5 minutes I can be in Blue Hill. A beautiful old traditional town that offers so many amenities. I can spend hours in the Blue Hill Library and enjoy it's amazing programs. Famous writers often speak at the Town Hall, yearly Chamber Music festival at Kneissel Hall, Fine Dining, One of the best Food Coops on the East Coast, galleries, and weekly markets. The Annual Blue Hill Fair was the inspiration for the book 'Charlottes Web'. The Wooden Boat School is near by and the Haystacks Institute of Art is also on the Penninsula. There are so many local beautiful trails and I am close enough to easily spend the day at Acadia National park at Bar Harbor.
