Relax in lovely Villa Picaflora, a private gated community two kilometers outside of Atenas. We are centrally located in Costa Rica, about 25 kilometers from the airport, and near the new highway to San Jose and the Pacific beaches.
This beautifully landscaped Bali-style home is located high on a ridge with fantastic views of the scenic mountains and valleys surrounding Atenas. The main house has two bedrooms, one with a king-size bed, one with a queen-size bed, and each with a full bathroom. The design is open concept with awesome cathedral ceilings, sliding glass doors to the outside in all rooms, and lovely handcrafted furnishings throughout. The property has a large parking area, a private infinity pool, and a pond.
Atenas is a friendly rural town. Close to all amenities, the Atenas area has many restaurants, supermarkets, medical and dental services, banks and a post office. Bustling San Jose is only a 30 minute drive away. Easy day trips to many of Costa Rica's famous attractions (beaches, volcanos and rain forests) are possible.
The weather in Atenas is ideal - the best in the world if you will - warm and breezy by day, low humidity, and comfortably cool at night. Air conditioning or heating are never needed!

What an amazing week! This Bali Style house was a wonderful place to call home. The weather was ideal and the view from the covered porch looked out over the valley and mountains. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the swimming pool! The pictures were very accurate and the house was very well equipped. The homeowners were great and were just a phone call away when we had questions. Don't pass up this property!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We just spent two wonderful weeks here and enjoyed every minute! John and Diane are great hosts. The four of us (ranging in age from mid-60s to a teenager)used this home to explore a lot of cities in the Central Valley and also just to relax and have fun.The weather was close to perfect, except for one 5-hour rainstorm, which we enjoyed in the comfort of the house. We highly recommend this house for a great vacation. Our favorite restaurant was La Casa del Vineda (or, as John calls it,"the wine place") in La Garita. Great food!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Two couples rented this bali style home for two weeks starting in early February. This was a perfect home that had all the amenities for preparing our own meals. Laundry facilities made it ideal to travel lightly. The location was central for touring the rest of Costa Rica or walking in the early morning to the town centre of Atenas. The weather was outstanding for the whole duration of our stay with lovely cool breezes from the north east. This is a great place to stay with two couples and totally relax. Thank you John and Diane. If you are a cigar afficionado ask for Miguel on the public beach of Manuel Antonio for a great deal on authentic Cuban cigars. Hasta Luega!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We spent 5 nights in this property. It was just perfect for our family. Our three kids loved the small house and played a lot there. We spent a week in Arenal area before going to Atenas so it was very relaxing being away from all the touristic areas. The house was perfectly clean and exactly as we saw in the pictures. Great kitchen, brand new appliances, nice linen, towels... better than a hotel for sure. Andrew was very nice and helpful. We did some day trips to coffee plantations, markets and Jaco but almost enjoyed the time in the house better. If you do stay here, make sure to visit the Restaurant "La Trocha del Boyero" the best food we had in Costa Rica with great service. We wish we could go back once a year...Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
