Pure relaxation and luxury! Platinum rating given to this home by Kiawah Island Golf Resort. This home is for those who really want the best for their vacation. Tucked behind the second gate in the exclusive Vanderhorst Plantation area of the island, this freshly renovated home in the Ocean Green community is a short walk to the beach, and offers free community pool access. Featuring fairway and lagoon views, this non-smoking home also includes hardwood floors, a fireplace, ceiling fans, and a sunroom. With four bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths, this home accommodates up to twelve guests.
This home is professionally designed and decorated and has a 'platinum rating' for interior design and fixtures. Plus, it is a short walk to the beach. Most homes in Vanderhorst require you to get in your car and drive to the beach. Not here! A five minute walk, or a three minute bike ride, and you are there! In addition, the home is on a quiet cul-de-sac. So you get the best of both: walking access to the beach, yet the peacefulness and quietness of being off beach.
FIRST FLOOR: The spacious great room includes a living area with hardwood floors, a ceiling fan, a wood-burning fireplace. Built-in bookshelves flank the fireplace, and contain a 47” HDTV with Blu Ray DVD player and DirecTV. A Bose Wave Radio CD player with IPOD dock stereo is available, and there are some books for a little vacation reading. The luxury kitchen is separated from the rest of the great room by a breakfast bar. The dining area is adjacent, and has a round table that can accommodate up to eight guests. The sunroom overlooks the 13th fairway of the Turtle Point golf course, and has access to the furnished screened porch, complete with ceiling fans and a dining table for four. The first-floor master bedroom is furnished with a king bed and includes private access to the screened porch and a full private bath with a whirlpool tub. The whirlpool tub has luxury chromotherapy lighting. It is awesome! The bathroom also has a separate luxury rain shower, and exquisite lighting and decor.
SECOND FLOOR: On the second floor, a cozy media room includes an HDTV and a Bose Surround Sound System. A second bedroom (really a second master suite) is furnished with two queen beds (yes, two queens!), and includes its own full private bath and private access to the second floor deck. A spacious dormered bedroom furnished with a queen bed and two twin beds shares the full hall bath with a fourth large bedroom, also dormered, and furnished with two twin beds. Both of these bedrooms include access to the second floor deck.
Access to all Kiawah Island Resort Activities, and Private Neighborhood Amenities:
(1) Golf Courses: Ocean Course, Turtle Point, Osprey Point, Oak Point, and Cougar Point;
(2) Tennis: Roy Barth Tennis Center, and West Beach Tennis Club;
(3) Pool: Private Ocean Green Neighborhood pool;
(4) Bicycle Trails, including those behind the second gate;
(5) Dining: Restaurants include:
(a) The Sanctuary: The Ocean Room, Jasmine Porch, Loggerhead Grill, and Beaches & Cream;
(b) Clubhouse Dining: The Atlantic Room, Tomasso at Turtle Point, Cherrywood BBQ and Ale House, and Southern Kitchen, and
(c) Casual Island Dining: The Night Heron Grill, The Market at Town Center.
This home includes free parking, initial supply of linens and towels, washer and dryer, gas grill, eating tables both inside and outside, DirecTV with HDTV and Blu Ray, air conditioning, starter supply of paper products and detergents, local telephone service, 24-hour security in a gated community.
Please note that we rent this home is on a “limited rental basis.” We limit the number of visits per year and have superb furnishings to ensure the utmost in quality and experience. It is not your typical rental home that moves people in and out continuously. The rate is higher than most homes. If you want the utmost in location, comfort, and quality, this place is for you!
Also, due to limited rental basis, we can easily handle unique arrival and departure days, stays that involve the weekend on both sides, or stays longer than one week.

We spent ten wonderful days on Kiawah Island. The home was just grand. Photo's and appearance are all very accurate It is completely updated with a great kitchen and an outstanding master bathroom shower. The furnishing, design and amenities are truly Platinum as stated. Home is very clean and well maintained. The home is very large, you do not feel like your are on top of each other. Plenty of outdoor space on porches as well. It is in a great location close to community pool. Easy walk or bike ride to the beach. We were able to ride bikes to the East Village store and tennis courts. Even though we were close to everything it is still very quiet on a beautiful street backing to the golf course. I spoke with and e-mailed the owner and he is very helpful. We would absolutely recommend this property to anyone wanting to spend time on Kiawah Island.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

This home is great. It is spacious and located right off one of the golf courses. The walk to the beach is a short 5-10 min walk. This home has a great and spacious kitchen, a killer master bathroom :), a nice screened in bach porch, and is decorated beautifully. I would definately choose this property for a future Kiawah vacation. We were on the island for a wedding and everyone commented that this home was the best property of the weekend.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you for the great review! Our home is professionally decorated, and we are pleased that it shows. Our emphasis is is tranquility mixed with elegance. The color and decor reflects that. Again, thank you for the review!

This house exceeded our expectations. We had a wonderful family vacation on Kiawah Island and this house was perfect. First of all, the location is ideal. It is on a quiet street, just a short walk to the beach and it is situated in the middle part of the island, making it convenient to get to anywhere on the island. The house is newly renovated and well designed for a family. The open design for living room and kitchen area makes for a comfortable gathering spot and the adjacent sun porch provides a semi-private area that allows you to choose to be either “in” or “out” of the conversations in the living room and kitchen area. The large screen porch is fabulous and we spent a lot of time enjoying it (from breakfast in the morning to cocktails in the evening). The bedrooms and baths have been attractively renovated and were well designed to accommodate our family (7 adults and 1 grandchild). Kiawah Island is a special place that allowed us to enjoy the beach, bike riding and golf with our family, all from the comfort of this beautiful home. We are looking forward to coming back and staying at this home again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers.

Fabulous Family Vacation Home

Our family (2 parents, 4 adult children and their 3 husbands/ fiancés (ages 22 – 31)) had a fabulous 9 night trip to this Kiawah home. We were coming from New Orleans, New York, Richmond, Nashville, Memphis and Washington DC so Kiawah was an ideal location - accessible via the Charleston airport and by car. The layout of the home was perfect for our group. The bedrooms – a master suite on the first floor, included a lovely and recently updated master bath. The three upstairs bedrooms and two baths provided plenty of sleeping/living space for the rest of the group and the smaller upstairs sitting area (with TV/DVD) was a great place for those who needed space away from the larger downstairs living area for remote work purposes. We were actually pleasantly surprised to discover an “extra” double bed in one of the upstairs rooms that we weren’t expecting! The downstairs kitchen area opens onto the combined dining and living area and provided ample seating and space for our group. The additional living area to the side of the dining table is great for being “near the action” without being in the middle of it – and was well utilized as a reading nook. We made full use of the fabulous – and recently redone – kitchen and spent a lot of time cooking. The extra fridge/freezer in the basement was fantastic for a group of our size and the kitchen was fully stocked with cooking equipment. We loved the two fully furnished porches, especially the screened downstairs back porch. It was a great place for cocktails and dinner, to watch golfers and to listen – while protected – to some of the late evening summer storms. Several members of our group played the Turtle Point course during our trip and loved the situation of the house on the 13th green – since the course wasn’t crowded, it was a nice “pit stop” for snacks along the way! The quick, five-minute walk to the beach (with its great chair and umbrella service) and access to the community pool (about half a block away) were also fantastic! We spent a good deal of time at both and also took advantage of the home’s proximity to Charleston – going in to town for tours, dinners, etc. Many thanks to Tom, the owner, not only for the beautiful home but also for all of the suggestions on dining, what to do, etc. We took full advantage of those suggestions and went to SNOB, Red’s, and a few of the bars and restaurants at the Sanctuary. We just wish he had more time to enjoy it all further – the trip was too short!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

My wife, my children and I want to thank you for the tremendous time we had at Kiawah. This has been by far the most relaxing vacation we have ever had. Your home was very comfortable. We went out on the beach at night with our beach chairs, talked, watched the stars, and celebrated that we did not need to answer e-mails or cell phones. My kids loved riding bikes, and were able to access the internet as well when needed. We are from NYC. We loved your place so much let me tell you, if you ever get up to NYC give us a ring. Please let us return the favor of having you stay with us.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

About the owner: The Vanderhorst Plantation is the best part of Kiawah Island. It is behind the second gate, which offer additional privacy, security, and luxury. If you rent in Vanderhorst, you have access to the entire Island. There is wonderful biking, nature viewing, golf, beach, and overall tranquility. I am NOT in real estate nor am I trying to sell you property! I am a family guy and therefore know how to and try to maintain our home to the utmost in quality. I hope you agree! If you have never been to Kiawah, you will be amazed at the beauty that surrounds you.
Why the Owner Chose Ocean Green:
Vanderhorst is the best part of Kiawah. My family and I looked all up and down coastal NC, SC, and GA before choosing Kiawah. It took 18 months to finally decide where to buy! This home is close to the beach, access to pool, and on a quiet cul-de-sac with no traffic. The back deck is so relaxing, and so tranquil in the evenings. You will love it. Once we decided on buying on Kiawah, it took us a while to find the perfect neighborhood, perfect location. This is it. A quick walk to the beach, but a home that has some of the benefits of being off beach. It really provides both.
Kiawah is a private island. You cannot get on Kiawah unless you are a renting a place or are a homeowner. Because of that, it is quiet and very relaxing. Once you set foot on the Island and in the house, you will see that pictures and words cannot describe it.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Walk to the beach, walk to the pool! Biking, Tennis, Golf, kayaking, paddle boarding relaxation.
Another great benefit our location (Ocean Green Neighborhood) are the Ocean Green Neighborhood Pool. This pool is large, quiet, and private, and is only a short walk from the home. No need to get into the car to go to the pool.
We also chose this location because it is quiet and private, yet “mid-island” in location. It is a short drive or bike ride to virtually all Resort Locations and Amenities. It is a short drive to get off island if you want to go to Charleston. Yet the location is still in Van der Horst Plantation securely behind the second gate. And it is on a quiet cul-de-sac with no traffic or road noise. We love the location.
