Previously a family home, this is a perfect home for families relocating to Victoria or professionals requiring a home for a fixed period of time.
One of the original homes in the area in one of Victoria's most sought after neighbourhoods, it is the main suite in a character home situated across the street from a lovely, sandy beach.
If you would like to enjoy a quiet, residential experience while visiting or relocating to Victoria, not the hustle and bustle of downtown living, this may be perfect.
Here you will experience the real Victoria and meet locals in a safe neighbourhood. Situated on the main street but up a long driveway, the House is very private and quiet; safe for children and pets.
Rental includes all utilities, cable, wireless internet access; all linens, and a fully equipped modern kitchen. There is a private entrance and off street parking. The living room has a large flat screen TV with DVD and CD players and a collection of music to play on the excellent sound system. The main floor bedroom has a small TV with cable. Cable is available upstairs. WiFi in the home for your use.
It has 3 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, laundry room and large modern kitchen on two floors overlooking a private fenced in garden.
From the expansive decks facing south and west you have views of the Olympic Mountains and Juan de Fuca Straight and beautiful sunsets over the hills of Sooke to the west.
The main floor has a large bedroom with a four poster bed, living room with wood burning fireplace, dining room, modern kitchen, laundry room and a newly renovated bathroom with a shower big enough for a family of five.
Upstairs there is the master suite with adjoining bathroom and a small bedroom suitable for a child or to use as an office/den.
The main floor Kitchen opens onto multiple decks that surround the Guest House. Outside there is a large fenced yard, gardens and a barbeque. The entire home is very tastefully decorated with contemporary and antique furnishings.
In Victoria the favourite pastimes are walking and cycling. The House is on the seaside route to Beacon Hill Park to the west; Oak Bay and Willows Beach to the east. Stroll to parks, walking trails, beaches. Oak Bay Avenue or Cook Street Village are a 20 minute walk away or take a 15 minute bike ride downtown.
Walk out the door and down the driveway to a beautiful sandy beach in a very sheltered south facing bay. Enjoy the shallow, warm waters of the sandy, driftwood strewn Gonzales Bay Beach; a great place for a romantic dinner picnic or perfect playground for children and dogs. The five kilometer scenic beach route to downtown Victoria’s many attractions offers stunning ocean and snow capped mountain vistas.
Enjoy your visit in Victoria, wherever you choose to stay.
Best wishes
Loredana

We stayed at the Gonzales Bay Guest House for 12 months in 2012. We had the most amazing year of our lives. The location of the property is perfect. It's literally across the road from the Gonzales Beach walkway beach access. This beach is very family friendly, bustling in the summer with sun, sunlovers and fun, and it feels very safe for families and for children. It's perfect for swimming (with a wetsuit on!!) or paddle boarding or kayaking, and for runners, the route along Crescent Road either down Dallas Road or in the other direction along Beach Drive, is stunningly superb. The home has a wonderful, cozy, warm atmosphere, making it very inviting and welcoming to every one who is lucky enough to use it- guests and all their friends. The rooms and spaces are all tastefully decorated and full of spunky character. The all important kitchen and bathrooms can not be faulted- large, new, practical and beautiful. My favourite room of the house is the master bedroom, upstairs- it is enormous, beautifully furnished with a very comfortable bed, a fireplace and small lounge in it, romantic and cozy- absolutely perfect. The outdoor living space is also exceptional- a large BBQ, decking on several levels, tasteful outdoor furniture and views of Gonzales Bay. The house is extremely clean and well maintained, and the owner is one of the loveliest, most approachable people you could ever meet, always willing to answer questions and help in any way possible. I would absolutely recommend this property to friends and relatives, and I will definitely want to stay there again when I go back to amazing Victoria.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1985
About the owner: We purchased this property as a project. After being rented to University students for 10 years, it was in need of love and a lot of work. The entire house has been renovated; room by room so that costs didn't get out of hand. The kids are gone now and I have downsized to rooms on the ground floor and my motor home. (I'm often travelling for long periods of time.) The small apartment on the other side of the house is occupied by the co-owner; a retired professional. The main suite is perfect for a family and we welcome children and pets. Lots of room inside and out for all.
Why the Owner Chose Victoria:
We chose this property because it was the worst house in the best neighbourhood we could find. It needed a lot of work and we sacrificed many holidays. But that was ok because we realized in that first spring when the tides were out during the days that we were right across the street from Waikiki.......at least it looked like it. As well, we chose this house because it was on the main road (very busy) but up a long driveway so we had quiet and privacy. And our two year old rambunctious son was safe from traffic. The Gonzales neighbourhood has been my home for 27 years; I've seen many changes over that time. From a beach cottage community, Gonzales has been transformed to an area of multi million dollar waterfront homes.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The community is very family friendly; with public and private schools within walking distance from the Guest House. A shopping centre with everything you need is close by; both Oak Bay Village and Cook street Village are within walking distance. Gonzales Beach is quiet in winter, but the beach of choice for many in the summer, a great place for children to play and dogs to run free.
