On the island of Favignana (Sicily), in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, we rent a little, charming villa. Built in a typical Mediterranean style, the villa is surrounded by wide patios and a colourful garden; the crystal clear waters of “Calamoni” bay are just 50 meters away. The place offers a fascinating atmosphere, ideal for a relaxing holiday.
The villa, elegantly decorated and completely furnished, is located right besides some of the most beautiful beaches on the island. The charming village of Favignana with restaurants, bars, shops and all necessary services, is just 500 meters away. Right in front of Villa dei Gabbiani you can find a boat rental (sailing and motor); a few meters away there is a diving centre.
The villa (three rooms, 70 square meters, 650 square feet) is composed of a large kitchen-living room with a double sofa bed and a color TV, a large double bedroom, a small bedroom with a bunk bed and a bathroom with shower. The villa can host up to 6 persons.

About the owner: Ciao! My name is Luca and I was born and brought up in Favignana along with my brother Riccardo. I currently work as an architect in Milan but I love this beautiful island and go back as often as I can. My parents, Rosalia and Pino, live there the whole year and warmly welcome our guests and surprise them with typical Sicilian dishes like parmigiana, caponata, pasta with fresh tuna, eggplant specialities and other delicious food. Favignana is also the island of LOVE: I met my girlfriend Alessia there. She works in Brussels and we see each other in Favignana as often as possible… I’m not sure whether she fell in love with me or with this enchanting island! I hope you’ll enjoy your stay in this amazing place filled with Mediterranean charm, culture and traditions!
Why the Owner Chose Favignana:
Favignana is easily accessible from either Palermo or Trapani (you can fly to either airports using low fare airlines such as Ryanair and Easyjet.) From each airport there are transfer services available that take you directly to the island through bus and ferry boat.
Favignana, the largest of the Egadi Islands, a natural reserve, is the most convenient starting point to visit the other four Egadi Islands; Marettimo, Levanzo, Maraone and Formica, as well as many other interesting places like Erice, Mozia, San Vito Lo Capo, Marsala and Selinunte. The island is never crowded. Another plus is that you do not need a car to get around the island. You can walk, rent a bike or a scooter and easily reach the many fascinating bays that the island has to offer. A short two-minute walk from the villa takes you to the beach; where you can rent a boat, choose to dive and enjoy a refreshing dip in the clear waters of Calamoni Bay.
Favignana is renown for its traditional tuna-fishing industry. You can visit the "tonnara" Florio, an old tuna processing plant that has been transformed into a free admission museum. The two most famous local tuna fishermen on the island are Gioacchino (the head of the tuna fishermen) and Clemente (his right-hand man). They offer a tour of the island including a meal cooked on the boat with fish caught right in front of your eyes! This is an experience that should not be missed!
As the evening approaches, you can hike (an easy stroll of about 30 minutes) the hill of Santa Caterina, where you can enjoy watching the sun set behind the island of Marettimo, as well as enjoy the view of the Sicilian coast and the rest of the Egadi Islands.
In the evening, you can choose to eat in one of the traditional family-owned restaurants in the village, watch a movie in the outdoor movie theatre built in an old typical tuff quarry or just relax while enjoying a Sicilian granite or some wonderful Sicilian wine!
