Perfect place to explore Kauai from! The pictures don’t do it justice, especially the view from the lanai! We didn’t even turn on the TV for the 8 days we were there! We drank our morning coffee and ate every breakfast on the lanai and many of our dinners there too. As we ate we watched the local surfers, boogie boarders, sea kayakers, beachcombers, and even saw whales out near the horizon on a half dozen occasions! The main highway around Kauai goes by the condo but you really don’t hear the traffic, the ocean covers the sound perfectly. We even slept every night with the door open to the lanai and didn’t hear the traffic. Kitchen was well stocked and had a nice big fridge to put our goodies in we got from Costco. Grocery stores were within a mile and the farmers markets are a must for fresh fruits and produce. Small bakery and coffee shop right across the street for morning goodies, too! The condo was very clean and comfortable. Washer/dryer was a huge plus! Shane was always quick to answer questions before our trip and even emailed while we were there to make sure everything was up to expectations. They were! Thanks, again!

The condo is very clean and well maintained. The complex is kept up and nice and quiet. The unit is situated just minutes from the airport. No matter where you want to go, the unit is so centrally located, it is easy and convenient to get any where on the Island. From the moment you open the door to the unit, you are greeted by the ocean surf. You can sit out and watch the surfers, without leaving the condo. It was great. Thanks!

This unit was perfect! A great location with the beach in front and quick access to shopping and restaurants. It also allowed a really good jumping from point to explore all sides of this amazing island. I felt at home, relaxed and well taken care of! The owner was very helpful and informative. :)

Owner response:Thanks! I am often asked if a car is required when staying at the unit. While I think a car is necessary to explore the hidden pockets of the Garden Island, the bus does stop immediately in front of WBV, and there are some great restaurants and shops at the foot of our door! If you've been to Kauai before, and are coming mainly to relax, it is quite possible to avoid the expense of a rental at the WBV.

A class act!

Centrally located on the paradise island of Kauai, 10 minutes from the Lihue airport, with daily direct service from LAX by American Airlines, or from Honolulu every hour by Hawaiian Airlines and other carriers. Very clean, comfortable, and nicely renovated unit with all amenities, including free internet and long distance phone calls to Canada and the U.S., what a nice touch! Shayne was very expedicious in adressing any questions about the unit or the island of Kauai. A list of his personal top ten attractions proved to be very helpful in planning our short 5-day stay. Tim, the property manager, was readily available and informative as well. A beautiful ocean view from the balcony, with accompanying sound of the waves crashing on the beach below...very relaxing while eating breakfast or a having a nice meal on the lanai. We highly recommend this rental and plan to return to explore Waimea Canyon and Polihale park, which the weather did not allow us to do in our limited time. Mahalo for the taste of paradise!

a great unit in a great ocean front property

We very much enjoyed our stay in this unit. We particularly like the ocean front situation of Wailua Bay Villas and have stayed in various units in the facility over the years. This one is nicely appointed, good bed, nice bath facilities, great view, two big TVs, a great set of binoculars to watch the whales and turtles...not much road noise...think the shutters help. You can tell the owner cares. He is very responsive to requests. We highly recommend a stay in this accommodation.

We absolutely loved this condo! It is immaculately kept with every amenity you can hope for. Binoculars, beach towels and mats, great kitchen utensils and small appliances (espresso machine....sweet), grocery discount cards (which saved us close to $100), grocery bags so one won't need to use paper or plastic! Really, everything has been thought of, and everything worked! The pictures are exactly representative, directions and communications with the owner, Shayne, were clear and concise, which made booking easy and worry free (this coming from a chronic worrier). The pool and grounds are beautifully designed and very well maintained, although we were mostly down on the beach and in the ocean. The flowers are gorgeous. It's a relatively low key condo with friendly and fun neighbors. Our 3 favorite experiences were having our juice and coffee on the lanai every morning and walking the beach every evening. Secondly, hiking Kalalau Trail at the end of the North Shore road, beginning at Ke'e Beach. What a magnificent way to see Na Pali coast! And finally, Waimea Canyon viewing and hiking. Beautiful. We mostly liked eating our breakfasts on the lanai, but we did find Ono's Family Restaurant a mile or so down the road, which was great breakfast food. We found the condo so comfortable, we didn't eat out much. Location was amazing! Several of my personal friends who have been to Kauai were adamant that we stay in Poipu. Putting off our plan making, we couldn't find a place right on the ocean in Poipu, so we looked at this one and couldn't resist the view. We did not regret it!! We drove down to Poipu, once, and didn't go back! It was loud and crowded, and I was so pleased we weren't there as I'm a highly sensitive person who doesn't tolerate noise and crowds very well. I highly recommend this rental. The value is fantastic! We will definitely stay here again next trip to kauai! My husband's dead set to do the whole Kalalau Trail. Yikes! And this place is well worth planning for in advance.

The Ono Family Restaurant is a fantastic recommendation, and I'm embarrassed not to have highlighted it before. There's a local feel to it and a huge selection of breakfast dishes, some traditional and others exotic, to choose from. It also happens to house the best shave ice on the island in the same parking lot! If you didn't try that, you should return to Kauai immediately! (I know a great place to stay!) Mahalo! Shayne.

We had the pleasure of staying at Shayne's beautiful condo from December 26 - January 7. The unit was very clean and well maintained. As a family of 4 we found the condo like staying at a home away from home. It had everything we needed. The kitchen was fully stocked as well as the convenience of a washer and dryer in the unit. The condo was perfectly located between the north and south shores which made every corner of the island accessible. There were many restaurants and shops located within walking distance of the condo. Shayne was very helpful and made himself available to us is needed. He recommened a couple of restaurants and markets to visit, as well as some great excursions which were all wonderful. Our first visit to Kauai was unforgetable and will definitely not be our last! We can only hope that Shayne's condo is available again next time. Mahalo!

A home away from home

We stayed in Shayne's condo from January 18th to the 23rd 2012. It is a beautiful, clean and comfortable place. Everything you need in the kitchen is available and Shayne is always very helpful when you have questions or need help with something. Having a seperate bedroom from the main living space is fantastic! I would take this over a 5 star hotel room any day as you have way more privacy and the condo is very quiet. The location is perfectly located on the East side pretty much half way in beween the North and South shores. Wailua Bay, although not the best spot to swim is a very natural beach with very little toursits. The town of Kapa'a which is just minutes away has everything you need for shopping and groceries. I can't wait to plan another vacation on this beautiful Island and I will cross my fingers that Shayne's condo is available as a home base!

Owner response:I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and experienced as much as you did in a short time! The conditions at Wailua Bay change every day like most of Kauai's beaches. While one day there may be surfers enjoying huge waves, the next there may be canoes gliding across glass-like waters. Carefully judge the conditions each time you go into the water and always talk to a lifeguard where available!

Great unit in a great location

We had the pleasure of staying in Shayne's beautiful second floor unit that looked out on the ocean and a lovely, quiet beach. We were there from December 10 until December 22 and thoroughly loved this wonderful condo. The accommodations were first rate and included everything you could possibly need no matter what you enjoy doing on the Garden Island. We walked to Starbucks, about 1.5 miles from the unit, every morning and enjoyed several of Shayne's recommendations. Be sure to eat at the Hukiluau Lanai at the Kauai Beach Resort. The food is to die for and it's within walking distance of the unit. Thank you, Shayne, for your excellent communication and for sharing your lovely unit with us.

Owner response:Wow! You must really like your Starbucks! I'm glad you found some spots you enjoyed! The addition of the pedestrian walkway over the Wailua River, and the fact that Papaloa Drive is now one-way has really added to the pleasure of walking around our neighborhood!

Great place to stay in Kaua'i

A nice condo, centrally located and with a fantastic view of Wailua Beach. The owner, Shayne, was prompt in his communication and very helpful with information on the best places to go in Kaua'i. We stayed for eight days and traveled all over the island -- the apartment is mid-way between the northern and southern beaches. You can walk to restaurants nearby, or drive for 1-2 minutes to the Coconut Grove Marketplace, Safeway, and other shopping areas near Kapa'a. The apartment was clean and well-maintained, with amenities and supplies for everything, including beach gear and the washer and dryer. Quiet complex overall. Great place to stay for the first timers on Kaua'i!
