  We arrived in the afternoon after our flight from the mainland and were greeted by the fragrance of plumeria blossoms and the sound of birdsong. The home is just as described in the listing, maybe better. The house is well-appointed with everything one would need. The short walk to the beach, left or right on Anini Road and then down one of the designated paths, was perfect. The sound of the ocean as you start to go to sleep is beautiful. The home is close enough to Princeville to get there and back in no time. Hanalei is just a short but beautiful drive past Princeville. The beach is great for sunbathing and for walking. Even though we were there over the Memorial Day weekend the beach was not crowded. The owners were gracious and brought us fresh eggs, papaya and limes on our second day. The home and area are beautiful and we would recommend both to all who want to experience the quiet of Kauai.

  Plumeria cottage was all that we expected and more. The house was extremely comfortable and in a wonderful location. It is just as advertised -- no unpleasant surprises. The roosters crowing at all hours were a bit much, but apparently that is all part of the Kauai experience. Coming from the cold and frozen Midwest, Illinois that is, we particularly enjoyed the open feel of the house and its wrap around porch. It provides numerous spaces for relaxing both inside and out. The dining table on the screened porch was perfect for those of us who are missing the feel of fresh air. The house is extremely well equipped for dealing with the mess of the beach,etc. We enjoyed the out door shower, the use of the kayaks, and beach mats. We would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

  "We enjoyed our time at Plumeria very much. The house is beautiful and very well equipped. The construction of the house and the lanai gives the feeling that you are outside all the time. I was wonderful to wake up in the morning listening to all the nature noises. The lanai was a perfect place for eating dinner (given the number of moskitos that were in the garden in the evening). The master bathroom with the large bathroom is simply gorgeous. We appreciated a lot all the baby equipment you provided us with (Crib, highchair). Also the outdoor stuff (boats, sand toys,...) was a great addition. We very much enjoyed the location. Even though centrally located and close the many touristic attractions, the residential area is very quiet and the beach was never crowded. The surf is very low thanks to the protecting reef and Anini Beach therefore perfect for little kids."

  My wife, two little boys (7 and 4) and I just spent a perfect week at the Plumeria. The cottage is not large but the lay out was perfect for us. A beautiful master bedroom, a great loft bedroom, a small den with a fold out futon and a generous open living area, surrounded by lanai. The location is lovely, with a gbig semi-enclosed yard well off the road where the kids ran free, playing football and looking for coconuts. Anini beach is about 2 minutes away on foot, just across the road. We ended up spending most of our beach time on the other side of Hanalei, but it's still nice to stay in quiet Anini, with grocery shopping nearby in Princeville. Only minor complaints are mosquitos and very noisy roosters at 1:00am. But there's probably nowhere in Kauai where you can avoid the roosters and mosquitos are endemic to the tropics (but maybe a little worse in this spot because a stream stops flowing right next to the house. But those drawbacks would not stop us from coming back. Maryellen and Bill were also very friendly and helpful. They even offered to put us up at their house up the hill when the low lying areas got hit with a tsunami warning the night we arrived!

  We loved staying at Plumeria cottage. We loved the layout of the house, the wrap around porch and the screened in dining area. The back yard was peaceful and private. We spent our breakfasts on the side porch overlooking the creek and talking to the ducks and birds that came to visit us. The house felt spacious and cozy at the same time. We were completely comfortable and hope to come back and visit again!

  Dear Mary Ellen and Bill, Bob and I wanted to send a note and let you know how much we enjoyed staying at the Plumeria house. It was open and relaxing. We enjoyed having many comfortable places to sit inside and out and see the beautiful surroundings. Obviously, we enjoyed the home grown coconuts and avocados! We took advantage of the kayaks and bikes to explored the areas nearby. It was a convenient location for us and we enjoyed the unique towns nearby (Princeville, Hanalei, Kilauea).

  Aloha Bill and Mary Ellen, We're leaving today and just wanted to say thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us! We loved the cottage -- it was just perfect for our family of four. Everything from the comfortable beds to the kayaks to the ducks were just what the doctor ordered for us. The surroundings are so green, lush and lovely - our favorite part of the island by far! The screened windows all around the house let all the beauty and sounds of the 'jungle' in without letting in the bugs. (Well, most of them anyway!) :-) Anini Beach is so beautiful and calm which was great for the kids. And just a short drive to Princeville, Hanalei and Kilauea where we could get whatever we needed. A great place and a wonderful stay. We will miss it - and will be back! MAHALO!

  Anini Beach is by far the most spectacular beach on the island. Everything you need is right there. Perfect for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking or just relaxing in the sun. Add to that the warmth and charm of The Plumeria and you will also experience the vacation of a lifetime. From the moment you step into the cottage you will feel as if you have been transported straight to the heart of island living. The Plumeria is not only cozy and comfortable, but open and expansive as well. The home lets you make the most of your island experience by seamlessly bringing the outdoors in. Enjoy your meals from the screened in dining room, open the wooden shutters to hear the ocean waves and enjoy the view through french doors surrounding the entire living area. The home comes with all of the water toys you could imagine and an outdoor shower that is both secluded and refreshing. The grounds are immaculate and the birds will make you feel as if you belong there. We will be back! Do not hesitate to make The Plumeria part of your Anini Beach vacation.
