We just spent a week at the Retreat with our adult children We had a great time and did a lot of sight seeing. We had to go a little far for a few of the sights we wanted to see, but that was okay. The cabin itself was great, with all the amenities we wanted. If we had a problem, Roy was right there to take care of it. He was great. It was so quiet and peaceful, we were glad to get up in the morning and look out at the surroundings. It rained a lot at night, but the days were perfect most of the time. We went down to the dam and looked around. We ate at Jimmy Macs in Bryson City, which had been recommended by a friend and it was very good. We had a wonderful week and would recommend the Retreat to anyone. Thank you for everything.

Peace and Quiet away from the hubbub of city living
Peace and Quiet away from the hubbub of city living
If you lack peace and quiet in your life due to the rigors of everyday work in the city, then this is "heaven". Everything for your comfort and leisure is provided in a clean and well maintained environment. The owners are extremely knowledgeable regarding things to do and places to visit, but, quite honestly, you won't want to stray too far away from "home". Local attractions well worth visiting are all displayed in a helpful book for your convenience in the chalet. Local artists and potters are well worth a visit - my wife spent a fortune!!! Internet is available if you really cannot do without it - but you are on vacation so ditch the cell and the laptop - You really can do without it!!!!! In conclusion, my advice is DO IT - You'll never know what you missed if not.

Perfect montain vacation
Perfect montain vacation
My wife and I have stayed at the Mountain Retreat (2 bedroom 2 bath cotage) 3 times in the past 2 years. We love the remote location and access to hiking trails. We like taking day hikes on th "AT" and nearby Smokey mountain trails. Other highlights include Fontana Lake and Dam and the town of Robbinsville (big grocery store). The skyway is a world class scenic drive going from Robbinsville to Telico Plains with many overlooks and more trails. If you want a quiet location with access to nature this is a good location. Truly a Mountain Retreat
Truly a Mountain Retreat
Oh, what a wonderful week we had last week in this lovely cabin! It is truly a home away from home with everything provided that we could possibly need during our stay. The cabin is neat and clean, nicely decorated and very comfortable. I was amazed to find spices in the cabinet and ketchup and relish in the refrigerator. There was even aluminum foil and plastic wrap in the drawer! Since this was our first time in the Robbinsville area, we spent lots of time exploring. There is so much to see and do in the area. Roy was most informative, telling us of a pottery shop where we could also buy homemade cheese, and telling us where to fish, etc. We loved our visits to Fontana Dam and Village, and to Cades Cove. We experienced the "Tail of the Dragon and visited Joyce Kilmer's Memorial Forest. We even went to the casino in Cherokee and "donated" some money. But, best of all, we enjoyed our time spent sitting on the deck, watching the birds and enjoying the seclusion and the quiet. At night we enjoyed sleeping with the windows open so we could hear the sounds of the forest. It was magical! Thanks to Debbie and Roy for their kindness and wonderful hospitality. We can't wait to come back to the cabin again!

We started our vacation early and had no regrets! The cabin was breath taking and had all the comforts of home. The cabin was clean and very well-maintained. Roy and Debbie made sure to make you feel welcomed either by calling or stopping by. I enjoyed the bird feeder. Roy kept it full of food and it was fun seeing the birds close by eating and what fell the chipmunk and squirrels ate. The weather was mostly wet but that didn't deter us. We either stayed in (lazy day) or ventured out. IT WAS VACATION! It was fun with the lazy days. There was no cell service as mentioned and I thought I was going to be lost without it but then I remembered..I WAS ON VACATION! Enjoy your visit as we did. I usually try different cabins when going on vacation but I will be coming back here in the future. Thank you Debbie and Roy.

About the owner: We have been traveling to North Carolina for years and then we decided to buy a cabin, except we ended up building one in Jackson County. And then we found these cabins and loved the area. Renting them was a gradual thing after folks we knew wanted to rent them, so we decided to advertise. It's alot of work, but we love getting the places ready for ourselves and anyone else that would like to enjoy them. You can't help but love the cool air and country atmosphere in Graham County.
Why the Owner Chose Robbinsville:
Because it was located on the same private road as our first cabin and we liked the design of it. It's always hard to decide which cabin we like the best.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The weather is great, scenery is beautiful and everyone waves to you while driving on the road.
