Dear Ed & Pat, We have come to this sparkling jewel called “Nantucket” with family every summer for many years. But this past winter we decided to experience the “Gray Lady” in winter. How lucky we were to find “your little bit of heaven–74 Center St.” Adorable, comfortable, conveniently located on one of the most historic streets in Nantucket town. Minutes from all you could possibly need and want–beach, stores, library, theater, church, drugstore and ice cream parlor and bakery. Best of all, no car needed. 8 months without having to drive anywhere. I am so sad to be leaving and so jealous of those lucky people who will occupy “my little bit of heaven” after me. It was our good fortune to meet you both. Hope to see you soon again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

This was my first rental in Nantucket and my first trip to the island. After a mildly rocky start, it was a wonderful trip. The accommodations are modest yet quite sufficient. The master bedroom is very comfortable. The shower was excellent with great pressure. But the most notable thing about this place is it's location. It is located north of the commercial section of Centre street. It is delightfully quiet, allowing one to rest and sleep fitfully. But just steps away are all the fabulous restaurants and shops which beckon you inside. There is really no need for a car as most places are walkable. If this is your first visit, I'd recommend dining at the Boarding House which was outstanding. It's on the pricier side but the bartender, waitress and bus man were clearly down-to-earth, attentive and deserve praise as much as the food itself. Straitwharf clearly had the best drinks on the island but their food and ambience were also amazing. My last night at Club Car was a lot of fun. Go there for great drinks and the piano bar. Shoe shopping at Addison Craig was a lot of fun. The store was beatifully laid out, the employees lacked the pretentiousness (thank god) of some Nantucket boutiques and the selection was amazing. They also had a different "shoe of the day" which sold for $99! Jewelry at the "Jewel of the Isle" is also a wonderful place. The husband and wife team make much of the jewelry on the premises. The owner even perfectly sized and added detail to a bangle I purchased thus making it exactly what I wanted! It was also apparent that the store was a local favorite as many customers came in to alter their jewelry. Lastly, please visit Benji's boutique for affordable clothing, The Bean for coffee and free Wi-Fi, Stubby's for late night cheap eats, Sophie's for superb pizza and salads, Rose and Crown for dancing and Karoke and Fresh for sandwiches. Support local businesses like I did and as vistor's, we will always be able to maintain the charm of Nantucket Island! Why the Owner Chose Nantucket Town:
After years of visiting on our boat, we walked up Main St. last Fourth of July, looked at the old firetruck and the young children, the smiles and the flags; and decided we wanted a stake in this wonderful, unique, little island.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
There is beauty to be found in every part of Nantucket, but the heart of it can be found in the cobblestone, shaded streets surrounding the waterfront, amidst the history as well as the present charm of bistros, bookstores, shops and a profusion of boats of all sizes.
The Captain Gardner House, which dates from 1875, represents the whaling tradition of Nantucket, but is right in the middle of all activities in the town. The location is perfect. Centre Street, the oldest street in Nantucket, is quiet, but within walking distance of everything.
