VRBO Bear stayed here:
My husband and our two boys went to visit my family in the Washington, D.C. area. After extensive searching, we came across this lovely little house in Old Town Alexandria. We knew we loved the place as soon as we saw it. It has its own driveway, helpful because the area has limited parking available. The backyard/courtyard is currently under construction, but looks like it's going to be beautiful. The entrance has a mud room, with the other rooms all upstairs. In this mudroom, they have a cute little chalkboard that welcomes the family. I grew up in the area and the old house reminded me of my youth. It's very old and has a lot of the lovely original fixtures, including hardwood floors.
Going up the stairs, on the right is a wonderful parlor with a TV and chess table. It is warm and inviting, with an eclectic style. On the left is a hallway where the bedrooms and kitchen are located. The first room is the master room where we found fresh cut flowers, a charming personal touch. The next room is a wonderful kid room with two twin beds. The boys took an instant liking to the home, especially when they found home-made cookies on the bed! The last room is the kitchen and then the sunroom, which was the biggest hit!
The sun shines into the sunroom in the mornings, making it warm and inviting. It also has a lovely view of the homes of Old Town along with a view of the Potomac River. When we were in the house, we stayed primarily in the sunroom. It was a great area where we could connect as a family.
The house is in a perfect location. Within a short walking distance are tons of restaurants, shopping, the Potomac River and the wonderful Torpedo Factory, where you can see local artists at work. It’s a quick hop, skip and a jump to D.C. itself.
We were all pleased with the house and would definitely stay there again when we go back.
Convenient and Quiet
Convenient and Quiet
Awesome location close to everything in Old Town down by the water and also close to groceries, restaurants, cafes, bakeries, etc. Driveway parking was also a huge convenience and very rare in the area. The apartment itself has a nice layout and is quiet. We stayed for a week with two toddlers and it was well suited to our needs. We'd definitely stay again if we come back to the area and the apartment is available!

This is a wonderful place!! So cute and convenient to Old Town. We walked everywhere and had a blast. We saw all the sights that DC has to offer. It was the best family we have ever experienced. Long summer days filled with fun, laughs and lots to do. The apartment is dog friendly which was wonderful and the dog park is right around the corner.

Great location, mixed reviews of property
Great location, mixed reviews of property
We arrived for a 2-night stay in the area. Property is in a fantastic location--view of waterfront (and sunrise) from breakfast room in the kitchen. Old Town is incredibly charming, and close to DC sights. The house is charming, unique and nicely decorated, and neat as a pin. Upon our arrival, we were pleased to find a fresh fruit basket, orange juice, muffins and sweets waiting for us. Really appreciated since we arrived very late at night so we had something waiting for breakfast. The kitchen -- very old and a bit run down, though freshly painted -- was disappointing. It is not very well equipped-- so if you plan to cook much it will be a challenge--even a good basic set of tools would be a big improvement. The tv was not working upon arrival, but the owner fixed it--though the built-in DVD player was broken the entire time. Not much water pressure for the shower. Pillows were incredibly hard and lumpy, queen bed had only a cotton blanket and fitted sheet--no flat sheet. And probably the worst thing was the smell of the apartment. Though it is a non-smoking rental, it smells like smokers had lived there before. That's a smell you just can't get rid of or cover up. Though we enjoyed our time in the area, this rental felt overpriced for what it offered.

We apologize if something is not up to standard as we strive to make every stay impeccable. We urge all of our guests to please notify us if there is a problem or something that we or our housekeepers may have missed. We are on site and more than happy to accommodate our guests. This gives us the opportunity to correct any issues and again, make your stay enjoyable. In our property, we use luxury bedding and towels with down comforters and pillows on every bed. We provide additional linens in every room, should a guest require a change of linens. This property, built in 1904, has an older kitchen and bath that have been updated and are fully equipped and stocked. A complete renovation is ongoing this year. Improvements are taking place from top to bottom and we invite all to visit and see for yourselves. We think you will be happy with the changes we have made. In closing, we feel that the bulk of our reviews speak volumes about the property and amenities and are confident that you will continue to be very satisfied.
Quaint, spacious, warm, great location, well-equipped, and excellent landlords. This is an ideal rental for those wanting to explore the area. We loved it and highly recommend it.

Nice house in historic Alexandria city
Nice house in historic Alexandria city
We are a family of 2 adults and 2 kids, and we were looking for a place to spend a week visiting Washington DC. This house is perfectly located to reach the center of DC in 20 mn or so (we used a rental car, but access via metro is certainly possible). The place is very nice and very quiet. The dining room makes you feel you are on top of the trees, with a nice view on Potomac river nearby. The owner was very helpfull for everything we might have needed. We can only recommend this place.

A very nice stay
A very nice stay
Our family of 4 stayed for a week. It is a charming apartment in the upstairs of a 100 year old home. It is 6 blocks to King Street (about 10 minute walk) and we felt safe to walk after dark. There is a grocery store a couple of blocks away that has just about everything you need. Old Town Alexandria is a wonderful place to stay and visit. The apartment has just about everything you need for your stay. We took the Metrorail and did the normal sightseeing in DC. If you like to watch airplanes, it's a short 15 minute drive to Gravelly Point. We look forward to coming back to Old Town soon and hopefully be able to stay here again.

A Taste of Early Americana
A Taste of Early Americana
My wife and I had the pleasure of staying in this historical home in the historical town of Alexandria. Located a block from the Potomac and half a block from a city park, this enviroment enhanced our visit A LOT! Quaintly furnished, the upper floor flat was charming with its vintage furnishings and warmly colored walls. Breakfast in the sunroom off the kitchen was like having coffee in our own private treehouse, with views through the tree branches toward the Potomac and distant horizon...a great way to jumpstart our day. On the practical side, the flat was well equipped with the necessary amenities, and the offstreet parking was ideal! Furthermore, a grocery store was only a couple blocks away, and the shopping district was really close without being intrusive on the historical neighborhood in which the flat was situated. Another positive aspect was the flat's convenient accessability to the Metro Station, which was a short drive away. We really enjoyed our 9 day visit...and having this kind of place to relax in was one of the best aspects of our trip. We look forward to our next trip to the Washingtom, D.C. area, and we hope the flat will be available to us again.

We spent a wonderful week in the apartment visiting old friends. The property is centrally located so it was easy to get to all of the places we wanted to go: the US Open in Bethesda, Nationals Ball Park, Annapolis, National Harbor etc. The neighborhood is really nice. We took our dog Shadow for long walks down by the river. We could easily walk to all of the shops and restaurants on King Street. It's fun to check out the historic homes on the neighboring streets. It was really nice to come back at night and have a quiet place to relax. It was also great to have a regular grocery store down the street, and a Whole Foods within a few minutes drive. The location could not be better. We will definitely want to stay here again when we come home for another visit! Thanks so much.
