Spacious Garden Level of a c1875 Brick Townhouse in the heart of the Historic District on Beautiful East Jones Street. Walk to everything!

No stairs here, and also no step-down or basement feel to this beautiful ground floor 900 square foot one-bedroom apartment with fully updated kitchen & decor. Walking distance to anything in the Historic District. Situated between Forsyth Park (0.4 miles south of the house) and the River (0.7 miles north of the house) Jones Street is known as the prettiest street in Savannah.

Bedroom has a fabulous King size bed as well as a reading sofa. There is a 2nd flat screen tv in the bedroom which is totally separate from the Living Room for privacy. There is a Queen pullout sofa in the beautifully decorated living room. The bathroom is off of the kitchen.

Two middle aged ladies on their annual get-a-way. This was our first time to Savannah and what a wonderful experience we had. The apartment is exactly as the pictures show, such a lovely place, on a lovely street, and the patio is such an asset to the apartment. We walked everywhere except the grocery store. The Trolleys are so much fun and the Guides (drivers) make the ride even more enjoyable by throwing their personalities into telling the history of the City. We definitely recommend the "Walking Foody Tour". We were there for one week and couldn't even begin to get everything there is to do done in that time, we are definitely coming back and hopefully that will be next year. Loved the apartment and the City. We highly recommend this apartment!

Propert is very well represented by pictures and description. It is clean and much more comfortable than a motel. There is a bit of a walk to City Market and River Street, but we enjoyed the walks each day. Clary's Cafe is a couple of blocks away and was great for an inexpensive breakfast. We enjoyed Crystal Beer Parlor down on W JonesSt for lunch although you don't hear as much about it. It was a hidden gem.Tybee Lighthouse and Ft Pulaski were also a great trip about 20 minutes away.

We stayed only one night on our way to Florida, then again on the way home. Apartment was very convenient, clean and comfortable. Though we were not there long enough to use all of it's advantages it is nicely set up for a longer stay.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is just outside of the historic district but easily accessible to all places in Savannah. Nicely decorated and well-kept. Very clean. Used the bedroom and pullout bed. Both were adequate.

Owner response: Just to clarify, this address is within the official boundary of the Historic District not "just outside" it as this review states. This person must be referring to the heavily trafficked commercial area of the Historic District, which we are slightly removed from by about 0.3 miles. Jones Street is more of a residential street, particularly this block which means parking is actually easy which is a good thing for anyone who wants to use their car during their stay. Some streets in the Historic District are nearly all stores, restaurants and bars. If you would like to stay in the center of the commercial area please call me as I do have several rentals on Broughton Street.

We had a wonderful time in this delightful and well located apartment. Mary was very helpful in setting this up. My husband and myself felt very comfortable. The bed was great and the kitchen well appointed. The bathroom was clean. It's an old building so you can't expect an absolutely new look. We loved our time there. We felt bad the weather wasn't good enough to go out and enjoy the lovely patio.

The townhome was very clean and decorated nicely. We were able to walk to most places, very close to Forsyth Park. Mary was very accomodating especially since our two night stay was kinda planned last minute. She also left us a bottle of wine which was a nice touch. Patio was nice, don't be surprised if a cat drops in to visit while sitting out there. We also had one follow us home one night and he seemed to enjoy the patio as well as he stayed out there all night!

Owner response: Now that's the kind of title I am trying to get on my reviews, thank you SO much. I have noticed other guest comments in our book about the cat. I am sorry about that but I assure everyone with allergies/aversions that there have never been any cats inside. A neighbor's outdoor cat seems to love our patio and has great fence climbing skills! We have someone blow off the patio weekly and he blows off the furniture with a high powered machine to clean the cushions.

My son, dtr in law and I stayed for 4 nites over the New Year at this comfortable, well appointed 1 bedroom w/fold out couch in the living room, and we had a wonderful time. The king bed was soooo comfortable, and my son and dtr in law stated the sofa bed was also. We walked almost everywhere, even though it was chilly during the day, cold at night. We had everything we needed during our stay except for groceries, and wine of course... I had my coffee each morning on the back patio w/the sun keeping me warm, a wonderful start to my day. And, we had our champagne cheers on that patio during the evening of New Year's Eve, before heading down to River Street to bring in the New Year. The historic district, Bonaventure Cemetery, a meal at the Pirate's House, walking through the squares, a carriage ride, etc, etc. shouldn't be missed. The fireworks on the River was awesome, and the music wherever we were was wonderful. Thank you Mary for offering a great place for us to come and visit Savannah. Even though we didn't meet, I enjoyed talking w/you on the phone before our visit.

Owner response: Great! Thank you for addressing the comfort of the pullout bed. I get asked about it frequently and having not slept on it myself I just tell people it is new and brand-name but still a sofa bed. This review should reassure those who plan to use the sleeper sofa that is indeed comfortable. And despite the cold weather I am so glad you enjoyed that patio!

We arrived in Savannah and found the house in perfect condition. It is tastefully decorated, secure and conveniently located! The apartment was sparkling clean. Upon arrival, we set out on foot and found some wonderful shops and restaurants just around the corner. Our bed was very comfortable and the location was quiet despite it's convenience. The owner was attentive to our needs and very helpful with recommendations regarding places to go and things to see. The house was fully stocked with everything we needed. We would strongly recommend this property and intend to make this our regular spot when travelling to Savannah!

The renovations are poorly done and the window in the bathroom was thick with dirt , the bathroom tub fixture was so flimsy when you left the knob for the shower the hold spicket liffted. The water pressure was low in shower and there needs to be better lighting in the bathroom for makeup/shaving and etc. Also there needs to be some soundproofing between the upstairs and downstairs units. I could hear everything upstairs and when we were there a large party with small running children ran for the whole time we were there. They got up early running and went to bed running which made it not so relaxing for us. The kitchen door looks nasty and as if someone forgot to paint it. I love character but clean looking character. The other complaint I had was there are no comfortable seats in the house. The chairs are weak at the dining table area, the light had blown in there so it was dark, the couch nor the chairs in the living room area are very comfortable for long term siting. The location was great and Savannah was a beautiful city. I also think an outside grill would be nice to make available for the downstair renter. I hope you can appreciate some of my constructive criticism but as a 57 year old person when renting for a week cleanliness and comfort are really important factors. As is I would not recommend to anyone.

Owner response: Considering the long history of happy guests we've had in this property, I am saddened and surprised to read this review. The previous week my own parents stayed in the apartment and they did not tell us about any problems, but they did say they loved the newly renovated bathroom. Had I been contacted by this guest about anything at all, for example the bulb being out in the dining room, I would have been right over to fix the problem. The sofa has had rave reviews from everyone else who has mentioned it. It is extremely comfortable to sit on and although most sleeper sofas are not quite as comfortable as regular ones you can barely tell this is a sleeper because the cushions are so thick. The 2nd small sofa in the bedroom has been complimented regarding its comfort as well. And the wooden dining chairs were chosen because a local restaurant, The Starland Cafe, uses them. I know that noise from upstairs is not normally a problem because we lived upstairs full time with our own small child for a year while renting this apartment on VRBO and received no complaints about noise, had repeat guests and all good reviews- as you can see further down the list- during that time. This reviewer's stay was over Dec 25 and there was very cold weather which probably kept both the upstairs guests (who did have young children excited for Christmas) and this downstairs guest indoors more than usual. We indeed do not have a grill, as was disclosed to this guest directly and on the listing- that choice is for safety reasons primarily but also because we normally do not charge for the cleaning fee and asking our maid, who is rightfully focussed on linen changing, surface sanitizing, dusting, etc. to also clean a grill would eliminate our ability to absorb the cost of cleaning between guests. Immediately after reading this review we did go to clean the window and door and found them to be not dirty but not as freshly painted as the rest of the apartment. The window is original from 1875 so it has some imperfections. We sanded both items down and repainted them. I'm glad that (even under the scrutiny of this particular guest) one door and one window were the only unclean looking items since cleaning is our biggest focus. I do appreciate those items being mentioned since now I feel good about them being impeccably painted for our busy season which is starting now. I live less than 5 miles away and can attend to anything easily and I care a lot about keeping things nice.

                          Owner info

                          Year Purchased: 2008

About the owner: Hello my name is Mary! I have lived in Savannah for over 10 years. This was my last 'downtown' home before my family outgrew the space. I still live less than 5 miles from the property and I take great care of the house and our guests. Feel confident renting from a long time resident and business owner with strong ties in the Savannah community.

                          Why the Owner Chose Savannah:
The main house was our residence from 2008 until the end of 2011. We chose to buy this home because we LOVE it and the garden apartment just happened to be a historic feature of this property. We have used the apartment first as a rental to a famous interior designer, then as an artist's studio and a family guest quarters and now we have arranged the space for your enjoyment! We chose to furnish it with contemporary items since the house itself is 'an antique'.

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
We loved walking around our beautiful neighborhood and dining out frequently. The location, just steps from restaurants such as the Firefly Cafe as well as the Broughton Street nightlife, is the top feature of this home. Jones Street is known as the most beautiful street in Savannah, due to its grand width, its historic brick foundation and the gorgeous live oaks mixed with magnolias and palm trees. Additionally, for a single bedroom rental this apartment has a large scale including a nice ceiling height that will not make you feel closed in or have a 'rabbit warren' affect. We have decorated the entire apartment in a fresh clean contemporary fashion to appeal to guests of all ages.
