  We walked in to what seemed to be section 8 housing. There were holes in the walls, exposed wires and leftover molded food in the oven. We had to clean the house before we spent time there. There were no blankets and throw pillows to be used for sleeping purposes. Upon arrival, 4 people who LIVED there were moving their clothing out of the "casita," which we had rented. One bathroom in the main house had a sink that was out service, while the guest house bathroom had a hole in the bath tile with a plastic bag covering it. This place was disgusting. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher, which also was broken. Every dish needed to be washed before use, the floor was filthy and we ended up having to purchase cleaning supplies. We paid a heating fee for the pool which was not heated upon arrival. We had to call the house manager who gave us directions to heat the pool. The worst part of this experience was that we were unable to get a hold of the property manager, who had rented the space to us. After FINALLY getting in touch with him, we were to blame, even though he admitted previous tenants were unhappy with the house for the same reasons. Please save your money. Do not stay here, it is not worth the headache. The property manager is very unprofessional and resorted to name calling when confronted.

  Owner response: The above review was written by a fictitious person. When he made the reservation, he gave us the name of "Ethan." It seems from the moment he and his party arrived they had one goal in mind -- getting a free stay. They complained from the get go and never let up. The homeowner has put this beautiful place through extensive renovations over the past nine months, and admittedly, there were a couple of small items from the construction work that should have been finished more thoroughly. But nothing came close to being anything more than a small inconvenience. After they left, "Ethan" berated us with negative, mean messages, both text and phone calls, and wouldn't let up. We made a very generous offer and apologized for the light switch that was missing and the one wall that had a corner that still needed painting. The homeowner went above and beyond with his offer of a refund because he wanted everyone in their group to feel good about their stay and to return. It didn't matter what we offered. "Ethan" wasn't going to settle for anything other than a full refund. We asked what kind of a compromise he was willing to make. No response, only a full refund, even though he and his 10 friends had stayed the entire weekend, enjoyed the house, and didn't leave. Only afterwards did they demand a full refund. It amounts to a form of extortion -- give us a refund, they demanded, or we'll post negative reviews and your business will suffer. These are the repeated threats they made again and again. Unfortunately, because of a recent change in policy, all reviews -- whether based in fact or filled with such bogus claims like the one above -- are now supposed to be listed on this site and a sister website. I have called and asked customer service to take this review down because it's written by a fictitious person, someone hiding behind an alias who is now spewing his hate because we refused to give into his threats and give him a full refund. I'm proud of the homeowner for standing his ground. It was the right thing to do. I have since done a little detective work and discovered that Ethan is really an "actor/internet talk show host." I remember what it was like as a young talent trying to get noticed and I wish the man well and nothing but success and all the luck in the world. I wish also that this policy would be changed so that messages filled with inaccuracies and used as a weapon to get something won't be posted.
