Warm yourself from the evening chill wrapped in a blanket, comforted by the flickering light from the outdoor fireplace. The sound of the woodlands at twilight is enhanced by the babbling creek that runs at the bottom of the property. The only houses visible are high on a distant peak. You are at peace.
You wake in the morning, alive and refreshed. You serve yourself a steaming hot cup of Joe in the gourmet kitchen. You casually walk outside on the deck & settle in the quaint outdoor eating area. Here you smile & breathe in the fresh air as you listen to the creek & watch the humming birds feed. You’ll find an unusual sense of energy in this 4,500 plus square foot, three story mountain log Lodge.

Close to downtown Black Mountain, Asheville, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock and other small mountain towns and recreation areas, your mountain hideaway is easily accessible with fully paved roads. No steep roads, no severe mountain top winds. The approach to the Lodge is serene with only an occasional glimpse of deer, or turkey.
There is plenty of ample parking for your family & friends in the large oval area in front of the Lodge. The home has a large covered front porch with a swinging cedar bench, and rocking chairs.
The wheel-chair friendly main level features a large Master with its own electronic gas fireplace. French doors lead to an outdoor covered living area on the deck with an outdoor, gas assisted, wood burning fireplace. The king-size master bed features a Sleep Number mattress.
There is a large ensuite bath with Jacuzzi tub, double sinks & a large, custom 6 foot rain head shower with seat, heated slate floors & large walk-in closet. A second bedroom is next to the Master which has a pop-up trundle & its own customized bathroom and plenty of toys in the closet for children.
There is a large fully stocked gourmet kitchen with top of the line appliances, granite counter tops, & high end cabinetry. The vaulted great room has a gas assisted wood burning fireplace & is decorated in a manner both rustic & luxurious. The dining area easily seats 8 with an additional 4 seats at the counter. Additional folding tables and chairs are provided. The home has a large laundry & hobby area. There is a full washer/dryer & plenty of counter space, cabinets & a built in desk.
The game room, located on the 3rd floor, has air hockey, foosball and electronic darts, but can double as a 5th bedroom with a coach which folds out to a comfortable queen bed.
The lower level has a full rustic bar & eating area, a refrigerator/ice maker, bar sink, & microwave. The bar area has two French doors that exit out to an additional level of decking with several lounging areas & a hammock tucked away in a corner. Opposite the adult play area is a childrens game room with a hobby table, games & a full Wii Set-up. The Lodges media room, with 165 inches of high definition video & heart thumping a 7.1 Theater Sound System, may become your favorite room of all of your favorite rooms.Two additional bedrooms are separated by a common bath. The bath has multiple sinks & a Jacuzzi shower tub that will be perfect for guests & family to relax after a hard day of adventure. The 3rd bedroom is the bunk room. The rustic log furniture features two sets of bunk beds, with full beds on the bottom & twins on top. The 4th bedroom doubles as a second master with a king size bed and antique furniture.French doors at the back lead from this out to the covered deck.

My team and I used the lodge as a getaway to have fun, relax and to take care of business! The media room was a real treat for us to be entertained without having to leave the house. My family and I (10 people) had a great vacation but one of the highlights was walking through the front door of your beautiful home. The pictures don't do this home justice and the holiday decorations just added to the wonderful mountain/holiday feel of this home. The fully stocked kitchen, theatre room and outside fireplace were particular favorites. Every night we all went to the theatre room to watch a Christmas movie and it was delightful. We hiked to property, went to Asheville and Grandfather mountain but everyone looked forward to going "home". We all wish we had arranged for a longer stay! The location was great because you were close to Asheville and attractions but only 15 minutes of mountain roads and you were home in a very private, quiet mountain setting. The owners of the home are very nice and made this an easy, wonderful choice.....one we hope to enjoy again in the fulture.Owner response: Thanks for the kind words Lynne. We must thank the owners of this beautiful cabin for letting us experience this truly magnificent mountain retreat! From the minute we entered the gates to the community we were in love. The cabin is absolutely first class....Gourmet kitchen with all the gadgets, granite baths, Jacuzzi tubs, theater entertainment, game room, wrap around terraces, fireplaces, fine linens and more! Nothing missing here! Even the Town of Black Mountain, just 20 minutes away, offered plenty of charm. Great restaurants (try the Morning Glory Cafe, it is awesome!) and great shopping! Check out the shops on Cherry Street! We even hiked the waterfalls in the community...wow, they were breathtaking! We had so much fun. My entire family came for Thanksgiving! Hopefully we can return again in the summer. Thank you again for opening up your beautiful cabin to us!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, people with disabilities, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We were amazed at how beautiful this home is. It is absolutely gorgeous! It is in a lovely gated neighborhood with stunning views of the mountains. The house is stocked with EVERYTHING you could ever want and more. They covered EVERY detail from a fully stocked kitchen to a fantastic game room. The beds were so comfortable and the house just felt like "home". You could sit on the back deck in a rocking chair and hear water running in a stream....it was so peaceful and relaxing. The owner is so nice and so helpful. We have rented several mountain homes over the years, but this one ranks the highest on the list by far. I cannot say enough good things about this house. We have stayed in many holiday homes over the years, but was by far and away the best. This is the holiday home against which all future ones will be compared. The kitchen was so well equipped and stocked and the welcome basket was a lovely surprise. The cinema room and entertainment available in the house were second to none - the kids did not want to go out! The property is beautiful and such a high standard - simply perfect. The hike to the waterfall was well worth it and we enjoyed watching the humming birds. The icing on the cake was seeing the bears! Finally, the owners were helpful and kept in contact, which was a great help as we were complete strangers to the area. We stayed at Hunnihome Lodge on the weekend of ORAMM (annual mtn bike race starting in Old Fort, NC). The house was in excellent conditon, extemely nice / luxurious, and full of amenities. Everyone especially loved the kitchen which was loaded with top of the line appliances and granite countertops. I personally liked the hardwood floors throughout the home as well as the wood cielings. The views from the multiple porches / decks were fabulous. The location of house is perfect as well, as it is just minutes from Black Mountain and Old Fort. The owners were very kind, helpful, and hospitable (Staying at Hunnihome was easy & relaxing). I would highly recommend this house to anyone who is looking for a peaceful "mountain get away", but still wants to enjoy some of the amenities / luxuries offered in "modern world".Owner response: Thanks Kevin, you all are welcome back any time!

This is an amazing vacation rental, where the pictures on the VRBO website do not scratch the surface of the beauty of this home and the surrounding environment! This home is tucked away on a preserve in a mountainside, providing all of the modern conveniences so that you'd never need to leave. The owners have really outdone themselves by opening up this amazing home!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We really enjoyed our stay. Your home was beautiful. We particularly enjoyed having so many common areas so both the adults and the teens felt like they had space. And, both the husbands love to cook, although rarely get the opportunity to do so. They were thrilled to be able to cook in your wonderful, well stocked kitchen!! Our family visited the Hunnihome for Memorial Day weekend and had an amazing time. The location is great for hiking and family outings to Black Mountain, Chimney Rock, and Asheville, NC. The views and the temperatures in the mountains were refreshing. Even though the weather was great, it was sometimes hard to encourage our (3) boys to leave the house because of the air hockey, foosball, darts, cool bunk beds, and movie theatre. This was a dream vacation that was made better by the location this cabin is in. It is tucked away up on the mountain in a very quite and private community. The cabin provided the perfect place to relax and enjoy the mountain weather! We went up for my birthday, and the home owner left me a gift card for the nearest restaurant, the Straight Away Pub and Cafe (good food and atmosphere), and a basket of treats! About the owner: We're a husband and wife Team, one who works in Banking, the other who consults in Banking. The mountains and the outdoors have always been an important part of our lives. In year's past, we've actively hiked, mountain biked, and enjoyed white water. The mountains have always called to us, and we've always sought to share what we love. Now with 4 kids (one still at home) and 4 grandchildren, the importance of combining family and adventure is important to us. We built this home to eventually retire to, so we built it high end and handicap friendly.
Why the Owner Chose Black Mountain:
Being a graduate of Appalachian State University and spending a lot of years skiing and enjoying the outdoors, the male part of the team was immediately drawn to the Boone Blowing Rock area. The female part of the team saw nothing but two small towns with a limited amount to do and to experience. To her, the Asheville area presented a wealth of different experiences. In year's past, the couple had spent many hours hiking, and rafting in and around the Asheville. The memories of the many small mountain towns, the festivals, and recreational activities soon drove the decision in the right direction. Upon exiting the car after viewing many lots in and around the area, the sound of the babbling creek at the back of the lot is what made the decision. It was a great decision.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Serenity and peace. Accessibility and 'self-contained' adventure. The Preserve is a gated acreage home site which borders the Pisgah National Forest. There are hiking trails, streams, and water falls in the preserve. There is an abundance of nature. We have seen bears, turkeys, rabbits, deer, raccoons and skunks. This is all possible because there is NO HUNTING! You are just minutes from Black Mountain, Asheville, Hendersonville, Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. There are a large number of crafts show and 'events' happening all the time.
