This charming beach house in La Jolla Shores has four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The historic home has unique character and was among the earliest houses to be built in the La Jolla Shores neighborhood.
The living room features open truss ceilings, pegged wooden floors, rustic knotty pine walls, and a wood burning brick fireplace. The room is furnished with a pair of comfortable white canvass down sofas. French doors open on to a covered porch overlooking the west garden. A big 52" Sony Bravia flat screen television with separate DVD player is included. High speed internet access and Wifi is included.
The original galley-style kitchen has mahogany wood counters, knotty pine cabinets and is equipped with range, oven, dishwasher and refrigerator with ice maker.
The dining room is located just off the kitchen area and has a nice large dining table with seating for 8 and French doors that open out onto the outside patio.
The bedrooms are cozy and have beamed ceilings. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed, two walk-in closets, television with full cable channels and bathroom with tub shower and single pedestal sink. The second bedroom is bright and sunny and has a king-sized bed and overlooks the south garden and pool. The third bedroom has a queen-sized bed and diamond-paned windows overlooking the north garden. The forth room is located just off the living room and has a set of bunk beds (2 twin beds), television with full cable channels and French doors opening on to the outside back patio and lots of sunny windows. **There are dressers in bedrooms 2, 3 and 4 but no closet space. The second bathroom has a standing shower, single pedestal sink and toilet.
The garage fits two cars and has an extra large front-loading washer and dryer set. There are beach cruiser bicycles and a big wagon for hauling your cooler and chairs to the beach.
Outside
The home has three separate gardens and a large swimming pool and 6 person spa/hot tub. ** When signing your lease, you will have the option to purchase pool heating at the rate of $40 per day. Pool heating is highly recommended for the months of October through May. Pool will be heated to a comfortable temperature of 87-88 degrees.
The north garden is enclosed by a white picket fence shrouded by lavender and jasmine. It features an ancient California pepper tree with a rope swing ideal for climbing. There is also a basket ball hoop in the driveway.
The west garden is surrounded by a laurel hedge and features an expanse of grass which is used for volley ball, badminton, bocce ball and croquet matches. It is large enough for the kids to play a game of soccer, flag football or T ball.
The south garden features a large swimming pool adjacent to a brick patio with teak table that seats 8 surrounded by fruit trees bearing lemons, limes, Mandarin and Valencia oranges. There is a small outdoor stone fireplace ("chimenea"), a pair of sun lounges poolside, a stainless steel gas barbeque and a traditional Webber charcoal grill.
On the east side of the property we have an outdoor beach shower.
Location
Just steps to the most fabulous beach in Southern California - La Jolla Shores. It is all are all just outside the door - golfing at Torrey Pines, surfing at Scripps Pier, snorkeling in La Jolla Cove, hang gliding above Black's Beach, scuba diving in the La Jolla Ecological Reserve, hiking Torrey Pines State Reserve, kayaking in La Jolla Bay.

This was a special vacation for us. Not only the first real vacation in a while but we were also joined by my Wife's Sister and our Nephew. So, of course, the zip line and pool were big hits. I could not have asked for anything else in the house. It was clean, comfortable, well taken care of, and very welcoming. The neighborhood was very quiet. A big plus for us since we love peace and quiet. We love to cook but did not take too many opportunities to do so, but the kitchen was fully equipped. The beds were very comfortable, the living room very accommodating for family gatherings or to watch a movie. The outside areas were just unbelievable. One does not get too many chances to get up in the morning, pick a few oranges from the tree in your yard and make some fresh squeezed juice. I would HIGHLY recommend this property to anyone looking for a good location in San Diego to enjoy the beach, Legoland, the Zoo, the many fine restaurants in The Village, Sea World. All of this for a very reasonable price. Not to mention Southern California Vacation Rentals was on top of everything. They even sent me a note about some items I left behind AND sent them to me. If I get a chance, and I think I will, we will be staying there again. probably with a few more members of our family.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
