The condo was equipped with everything we needed, which I find rare! It had everything for the beach and the kitchen also had everything we needed. We ate in a lot having a young one (18 months) and the condo worked great. The barbeque's were clean and everyone shared when needed. The pool area also accommodated our son well, having a wading pool was perfect. A few other notes, the condo is kid-friendly with little to "get into" and there's a tub for baths. The roll-away bed worked great, we pulled the mattress off and set it on the floor, which saved us from having to rent a crib. Our son loved the pool and enjoyed the grassy areas surrounding the complex. Nearby there were a number of beaches with shallow areas and small waves with a perfect sand for sandcastles. There were a couple of beach umbrellas in the unit which are awesome for protecting their gentle skin! We spent a lot of time exploring local beaches. We’ve been to Maui but had never stayed in Kihei. It was a nice change and we’ll be in touch when we return. We loved having breakfast and coffee on the lanai, having a view of the ocean and the mountains was such a treat. We even saw a few whales from the room!

DEAR INGRID WE REALLY ENJOYED THE CONDO. IT WAS CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE AND THE LOCATION WAS CLOSE TO SHOPPING AND OTHER ACTIVITIES. WATCHING THE SUNSETS FROM THE LANAI WITH A MAI TAI IN HAND MADE IT EXTRA SPECIAL. WE LOOK FORWARD TO COMING BACK AGAIN.

We greatly enjoyed our stay in Village by the Sea and found it bright, clean, comfortably furnished and well maintained with every tool and utensil you could want. The location is convenient, and the beach and view terrific.

Enjoyed the well equipped condo over xmas and New Year. Great view from the lanai AND the bedroom . Very quiet cinder block building and this particular unit is far enough from the road noise. Spacious! The great thing about the "odd numbered" units was being exposed to all day sunshine, from sunrise mountain side to sunset ocean side. 5 minutes to convenient shopping and 15 mins to Costco, ziplining at the Plantation, and the amazing beaches to the south in Wailea. The pool was a wee bit chilly (no reflection on the condo itself) and we wondered if they actually put ice cubes in it :-). Fortunately we spent most days at the beaches. The maintenance fees are well spent as they clean the pool and barbques daily, but go a little overkill on the grass cutting and incessant weed trimming and leaf blowing (unpleasant when eating breakfast on the lanai. Convenient laundry facilities on the same floor were handy and as good as in suite for $1. Ingrid and Gerry have a gem of a place and we really enjoyed it. loads of towels, change of linen and even cookie sheets for our xmas cookies.

Maui Get Away!

Eleven days of paradise! Ingrid and Jerry, you have a very nice condo, thank you for sharing it with us. From the lani we enjoyed the sunrise at 7:000am over MT. Haleakala and the sun setting into the ocean at 6:00pm. Your condo is modern and well maintained, the kitchen had everything we needed for the nights we cooked. The lani was great for coffee and breakfast and cocktails in the evening. The wifi helped us stay in touch with our daughter and friends. We met great people around the bar-b-ques and in the hot tub. We all shared tips about Maui. The facilities are well maintained, someone was always trimming,cutting or cleaning around the grounds. The beach chairs and cooler were used daily on our beach and snorkeling trips. I enjoyed talking to you on the phone before we booked the condo by e-mail, and how quickly you returned our damage deposit when we checked out. We will call you again! Thank You, Marty and Susanne

What A Pleasant Place!

We had a wonderful stay here. The condo is beautiful, well laid out and very well equipped and maintained. In fact, the entire property was a delight - well kept and peaceful. We thoroughly enjoyed the view, the pool and hot tub, the courtyard grills, and all the friendly company in the common areas. And ideally located for us with easy midpoint access south to Makena and north to the roads to Hana and Lahaina. We think this place is a terrific value and hope to visit again.

August 2010 -- Wonderful Vacation!

Our trip in August 2010 was a wonderful vacation! We really enjoyed the location of the condo. It was centrally located, which made it easy to get to all the places we wanted to visit during our vacation. The location was worth the rental by itself, but there were many other excellent things about the building/condo! We enjoyed the grounds of the condo building. We utilized the pool and the grills (several times). The grills (3 or 4 of them) were excellent and definitely an asset to the community! We only had to wait 10 minutes one time to use them (as they were quite popular on that one night), and no wait the other times! The pool was not crowded, only a few people there each time we went by, so we were able to fully utilize the pools! The condo was nice and quiet, which created such a relaxing atmosphere. We ate dinner on the lanai several times, and enjoyed the lovely sunset as we ate. Loved that you had chairs and a cooler in the condo for the beach. That little cooler was used every day! Cooking was also a snap due to your fully-stocked kitchen, which we took full advantage of after visiting Costco when we got there! The extra fan in the condo was also nice, that way we didn't have to use the A/C as much, instead we opened the lanai doors, turned on the fan and enjoyed the Maui air! We really enjoyed our stay at your condo! Thank you!

Maui in July 2010

First of all , this was my first time using this website and because I was able to meet Ingrid at her home it helped reassure me even more. Believe me she is who she states to be , it's all in the up and up, don't worry about that. As for the condo itself, when we walked everything was in order but it had sort of a "closed up" smell to it. The condo is in need of remodeling such as the shower area and carpets. The kitchen had everything you need but the "beach closet" needs some more stuff added to it. We didn't use anything from there because it seemed really old. As for the condo building , we never saw anyone at the pool or using the BBQ area so we didn't feel comfortable to be there alone. Nothing really in the area and not pedestrian friendly.

Owner response:The comments made in this review do not correspond with any of the reviews in the past. We have never had complaints about there being a "closed up" smell in the condo. We have had the condo renovated within in past ten years and everything looks exactly as is shown on the VRBO site as well as on our own site. The condo was painted three years ago and the carpets throughout the condo were replaced four years ago and are shampood every three to four months or if needed before. The beach closet has been restocked with new beach chairs, mats and coolers. The pool area is well used most of the time and the BBQS are used mostly at dinner time at which time the torches are lit and the little lights in the palm trees are turned on which makes for a really pretty setting. One of the things guests are always commenting about ishow much they like the location of Village by the Sea. It is close to shops, supermarkets, the airport, Costco, fabulous beaches, fast food outlets and all the different areas guests like to check out. Please be sure to read all of the reviews to see how much all of our previous guests have enjoyed staying in our condos. Ingrid

Thank you Gerry and Ingrid for the oppurtunity to rent your condo #523 in Kihei. We had a wonderful vacation made possible by the very convenient location of this condo. On past trips we stayed further north and had to drive much further to highlights like Mt. Haleakala and the road to Hana. This location shaved 40 minutes off most of our day trips. In addition, we enjoyed having so many restuarants and beautiful beaches within close distance. The 180 degree ocean and mountain view was incredible and we enjoyed morning walks along the beach in front of the condo. We were very pleased with the cleanliness of the condo and the upkeep of the external grounds and pool area. The landscaping was beautiful! The picnic cooler came in handy many times and we especially liked the hawaiian scented hand soap. The condo had everything we needed and we can't wait to return for another trip!

Quiet paradise

We absolutely loved staying here. We saw a humpback whale breach from the lanai, and loved our ocean view. The owner communicated with us promptly and efficiently, and I would definately recommend this property. We hope to return next year. Thank you so much.

We loved staying in your condo #307 at Village by the Sea. The condo is bright, spacious and had everything we needed, including a "beach closet" w/ a cooler, beach chairs and umbrellas. It was very handy to have the washer/dryer right across the hall from the condo and to have the central air conditioning (yet used the screens on the sliding doors/ceiling fan in the evening, as well). If we had wanted to use the pull out couch or roll away bed we would have had ample room. The ocean view from both the living room and bedroom is gorgeous. We enjoyed the full sized table on the lanai where we ate our meals and watched the sunsets. Village by the Sea grounds are lovely. The pool, hot tub, children's pool, shuffle board and the HUGE outdoor grills w/ picnic tables make it such a nice place to get to know the other condo dwellers, if desired. The condo was quiet, the setting serene (the two buildings are angled toward the ocean and seem to block all outside noise). We were delighted to see that, as a special bonus, there is NO other building anywhere near the Village by the Sea on one side, so there is a large, spacious lawn, and a sweeping coastline there without buildings obstructing the view. We felt that staying in Kehei was perfect. It was close to all possible shopping, sightseeing, and only about 15 minutes from the airport. Since every beach on the island is public and free (even the ones in front of the most costly hotels) we were able to drive to many different ones during our stay for swimming, snorkling and exploring. Aloha Ingrid, Clayton and I stayed at your condo May 25th until June 3rd. We absolutely loved EVERYTHING. Your condo gave us all the comforts of home. We thought the accommodations were wonderful. The condo is bright and cheery and all of the amenities perfect for our needs. We were pleased that it overlooked the beautiful pool area and the ocean view was great. We also appreciated the availability of internet so that we could stay in touch with family and work. We found that the location in Kihei was very central to all of attractions on the island and within easy driving distance. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay with you again should we return to Maui. Good Morning Ingrid, We have returned from our Hawaii holiday - it was great to enjoy 2 islands - everything was so beautiful. Hi Ingrid, David and I wanted to thank you for allowing us to stay in your great Condo the week of February 14, 2005. This was the perfect location for our 2nd wedding anniversary and my surprise vow renewal ceremony for my husband. Village by the Sea is in a great location! It didn't take us long to get to anywhere we wanted to go. One of the highlights was being right there at what appeared to be our own private beach. We went out there every day at least for a few minutes to take in the incredible view, and there was never more than a handful of people around if even that. We felt like we were in our own secluded paradise. The condo itself had a refreshing island feel. The sunsets from the lanai were incredible and I used my camcorder to record a complete sunset so we could remind ourselves of how great it was... and to torment our friends/family who haven't had the experience.
