Our home is oceanfront in Carolina Beach, North Carolina. It is an older style cottage built in the 1940's and we added a third floor and renovated in 2003. There are great views with beautiful porches and decks overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. In the Spring of 2008, the ground floor was added to the rental making it a full house rental. Full kitchen was renovated on middle floor in 2011 with dishwasher and garbage disposal. Two efficiency kitchens on other two floors.

The ground floor does have a separate entrance and is filled with games for the kids, a retro sofa converting lounger, an efficiency kitchen, a pool table/air hockey table and a big screen TV with DVD. It also has two bedrooms and one bath, all in beautiful bright beachy colors.

The middle floor has a full kitchen and family room with a queen sleeper sofa, one queen bedroom, one full bedroom and one full bathroom. There is a wonderful open porch with a swing, rockers, and a table for eating or playing games. There are two outdoor showers; an open shower on the walkway from the beach to rinse off sand, and a closed hot and cold shower to enjoy your daily shower!

The top floor has one queen bedroom, one twin to king trundle bedroom, and a sunroom with a queen sleeper sofa, and two full bathrooms. All rooms have ocean views. There is a beautiful deck from the bedroom and the sunroom with a retractable awning. A washer and dryer are in a common hallway leading to the middle floor. There is a lockout option with entrances both internally and externally to both of the top two floors.

The house will sleep 12 people in beds, and another 6 people on sofa beds!

This house is located on the north end of Carolina Beach, a quieter and more relaxing part of the beach. The Boardwalk, fishing pier and charter boats are all within walking distance. Enjoy the many restaurants, kid's activities, and just strolling on the beach! Bike, chair, umbrella and boat rentals are all within one mile of the house. There is a private deck and walkway to the beach, a brick grill and fireplace to cook out, and everything you need to have a wonderful relaxing vacation! There are free summer concerts each month as well as a wonderful Seafood Blues and Jazz Festival in October.

The NC Aquarium is a short drive as well as the USS NC Battleship Memorial and historic Wilmington! You can take a beautiful 30 minute ferry ride from Fort Fisher, just a few miles away, to Southport, another historic and beautiful town on the water. There are wonderful restaurants and antique shops in historic Southport. Come and enjoy our wonderful vacation home! We vacation there too, so you can count on it being well kept!

FAMILIES AND RESPONSIBLE ADULTS ONLY! We have the right to refuse rentals to groups or students. This is a NONSMOKING RENTAL and NO PETS ALLOWED.

IF THIS HOUSE IS BOOKED, PLEASE CLICK "ALL MY RENTAL LISTINGS" LINK BELOW AND SEE TWO NEW PROPERTIES THAT ARE ON THE SAME BLOCK AS THIS HOUSE.

Why the Owner Chose Carolina Beach

Avi was working in Carolina Beach when we moved to the area, and we lived here for the first year. We then moved into Wilmington but missed the beach and soon started looking for property that we could fix up. We loved the area because it was far enough from Wilmington to feel like we were on vacation, but close enough to drive home if we needed. We love the uncrowded beaches and the "old" feel of the beach. It reminds me of childhood visits to the beach.

The Unique Benefits at this House

You will enjoy the benefit of this oceanfront property with easy access to the beach, a nice parking pad with a deck area off of the walkway to the beach with a brick charcoal grill and outdoor fireplace, outdoor showers, one with both hot and cold water, a nice tanning deck on the top floor. You can easily walk to the north end pier to fish or eat, or to the Boardwalk where there are great shops, amusement rides, bike and other vehicle rentals, and an exciting nightlife. The NC Aquarium is about a 5 mile drive, as is the ferry over to Southport. Wilmington is only about a 15 minute drive where there are wonderful restaurants, sightseeing, film studio tours, carriage rides, and a wonderful downtown riverwalk. Our house has been a host to many weddings. We are one of only a few single family houses left at the beach. We have a large parking pad that works well with tents and tables, and we offer offsite parking at our hotel if you can provide shuttle service for your guests. We also have other properties in close proximity that can house other guests within walking distance.

Owner's Map of Carolina Beach

We moved from Virginia to the Wilmington area in 1991. We fell in love with the old beach cottages in Carolina Beach and soon found one that was a "great fixer-upper". We did some cosmetic changes and enjoyed the house for one year before Hurricanes Bertha and Fran hit! We had extensive damage, but were able to salvage the house and maintain it's 1940's charm with an updated look. Later in 2003, we added a third floor to the house and have been renting to many return renters since that time. The house is in a great area of Carolina Beach, the north end, where many families vacation and close enough but far enough away from the boardwalk area to minimize noise. Every other year, the town renourishes the beach, so in the off years, the beach erosion can be significant. We love Mimi's cottage, named after my (Kelly's) mom, and appropriate since my parents own the house with us. We know that you will enjoy staying here in the quaintness of an old beach cottage with bright modern colors and fabulous views!

What a wonderful place to make family memories! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your beachfront home. The rooms were comfortable and the view outstanding. Just 2 'could-have-been-better's: the 'largest' pot in the kitchen wouldn't hold enough pasta for 8 never mind 18! A large pot for seafood steaming/pasta cooking would be helpful for a house that hosts so many. Additionally, a second trip to the hotel to pick up pool balls was unfortunate. They could/should be given when the keys are handed out. THANKS so much for a lovely stay~

Family Beach Vacation

This property was perfect for our vacation! Me, my wife, her mother and mine, my daughter and son-in-law, two sons, a sister, a neice, two nephews and their girlfriends all had room to move! The older kids had the downstairs, the adults and young'uns had the top two floors and nobody felt "trampled" on! What a great birthday treat and send off for our son leaving for the Army! We will definately rent again!

Perfect beach house!

This was the third time we rented this house for the long Memorial Day Week-end. We have stayed here in 2009, 2010, 2011, and really look forward to next year (and many after!). We have a total of 5 families that come with us and have plenty of space and everyone has a great time. No complaints! You can't possible get easier access to the beach with your own private boardwalk. The outside shower is extremely convenient with all the kids coming in from the ocean. The house is always in great condition and if there was a problem the owners we very fast in fixing the issue. The kids really enjoy the game room as they wind down from a day playing outside. The location of the house is very private, yes there are buildings right next door but you never see anybody around. Lots of parking space. We also enjoyed the fire place and grilling area on the boardwalk to the beach. The owners are very friendly and personable. Overall, we love this place! A great spot to build endless memories with family and friends.

Small stuff that could be fixed!!

Date of Stay: 07/02/11 Review Submitted: 08/11/11

First of all we had a great time with our family at your beach house. We did not feel the house had been adequately cleaned when we arrived. The outside shower water drained down into the lower level so it was quite a hazard walking with 2 1/2 year old twins. There was old stuff laying around i.e broken umbrella, kite, shovels, etc. We were told about the problem with the ants and we even bought ant spray and watched about leaving food out and still fought the battle all week. I just feel the house had not been properly treated to get rid of the ants. Its just seemed that small things could have been done to make it a more pleasant stay. I do not enjoy being negative but thought I should voice my thoughts.

Owner response:I am sorry to just now hear that you did not feel the house was clean. We would have gladly sent the cleaning crew back out to remedy this had we known. Although they are usually very thorough in their cleaning, I am sure there are times that some things get overlooked, and we only know that if you let us know. It is possible that they did not clean that outdoor shower area for some reason, because they would not leave broken things laying around. Again, our apologies.. As far as the ants, they have been a real problem this summer. Every few summers, we have trouble with them. We treat all of our properties through a licensed pest control company prior to the season and usually once during the season. More than that becomes a safety issue with the pesticides. However, we did call them out twice more this summer, and they left us with a professional ant spray for spot control. It seems this summer with no rain, and then torrential rains, the ants are much worse.I know it is a nuisance, but spraying more often is much more hazardous than the ants themselves. We hope that you will give us another try in the future. We have other properties close to this one, that are on pilings and newer and dont' experience some of these problems because they are not directly on the ground. Thanks for posting your thoughts.

Our 3rd annual Memorial Day weekend...they just keep getting better! The home was waiting for us with open arms...updated kitchen...new counters...new appliances was a nice surprise! Our children look forward to this trip every year. The day of departure is always a sad day but the entire weekend is filled with smiles. Its a perfect location. Right on the beach with your private access to the beach. We have several families that go on this trip. Each floor has private bedrooms and bathrooms. But really we spend all our time together in the large parking area where we set up dinner everynight. The firepit on the way to the beach caps off the night with yummy smores!Morning coffee on the top balcony is the perfect way to start your day. The owners are amazing. Avi is there to greet you and he makes sure you know to call him with any questions or concerns. I would recommend this place to anyone ready to have the best memories for your families We are already booking 2012 and will continue as long as it is available! Thanks Kelly and Avi for being so wonderful to all of our families your home has giving us priceless memories!

Owner response:Thanks Mel, we look forward to having you back again next summer!!

Another great week at the beach! It's always a surprise to enjoy the renovations made to the cottage each year. The renovated kitchen was a real surprise on this trip with new appliances and also opening up the kitchen/dining area by removing the bar. Spending a week at Mimi’s cottage has become a family tradition for us—looking forward to our eighth year.

Owner response:Thanks, we look forward to having you back!!
