Property description

This is a completely restored 1890s vintage historic home originally built by Bozeman pioneer Christopher Waterman. The home has wood floors, oriental carpets, 9-10 foot ceilings, and horse hair plaster throughout. It has been been completely restored and remodeled over the past few years. The home is outfitted with Montana made Mission style furniture. There is a hot tub and unique outdoor concrete dining area.

The home was located on Main Street in Bozeman until the 1960s when it was rescued from destruction by Ann and Roger Stradley who bought it and moved it several blocks to its current location. We purchased it in 2003 and remodeled the whole place, new kitchen, two new baths, and refinished all the original wood floors.

The home was once owned by the justice of the peace and several hundred Montanans were married in what is now the living room.

Home has exquisite views of the Bridger Mountains, the Gallatin Range, and the Spanish Peaks.

The Waterman House is conveniently located just a few minutes walk from MSU campus and all the experiences of downtown Bozeman.

About the owner: My wife and I a part time residents of Bozeman, and love the place. The town and people are rare and fine folk. I am a retired econ prof from SC, and I work part time at an environmental think tank in Montana. We have family ties in Montana and have lived and loved the place for a long time. We have listed a few of our favorites on the map, and included a complete visitors guide (food, attractions, activities, walking tours, day adventures, shopping, etc.) in the house.

Bozeman is a classic American place with unique quality of life. The people, the mountains, the climate, make Bozeman one of the finest places on earth.
