Santorini, the most mythical and striking of all the Greek islands, is one of the top 10 destinations in the world.. It's not surprising that so many travellers are drawn to its dramatic beauty...in recent years many even choose to exchange lifetime vows here.
Unlike most rental properties in Santorini, this magnificent 250m2 villa is located in the most unspoilt village on the island- ‘Mesa Gonia.' 'Episkopis Gonia,' as it is also called, dates to the 17th century and is the site of the oldest Byzantine Church on the island, built in the 12th century. The European Union has designated the village a ‘traditional settlement’ in an effort to preserve its distinct character.
Estimated to be 300-400 years old, the property consists of 2 (two) separate units, the Main House and a charming 3-room Guest house, which have been architecturally restored and reinterpreted from the original ruins. The most striking elements of the unique architectural style of Santorini have been incorporated into both interior and exterior while introducing more modern features in the Main House such as a domed skylight in the living area, sunken bathtub in the master bath, and the convenience of a modern, spacious, fully-equipped kitchen. Both units can be rented either separately or together and consist of the following:
MAIN HOUSE:
* Sophisticated yet comfortable accommodation for up to 8 (eight) persons.
* Dramatic domed-ceiling, living/entertainment area with skylight (magnificent acoustics for music lovers!) and access to both outdoor terraces. Multiple seating areas with built-in beds can also serve as sleeping accommodation for up to 4 (four) people.
* Cozy double bedroom with adjacent, updated 3/4 bath designed in Cycladic hues and finished in a distinctive, traditional technique.
* Master suite comprised of romantic loft bedroom, sitting area, and magnificent bath which features double sink, full shower and sunken bathtub enclosed in mirrored glass, looking out onto back courtyard.
* Spacious, fully-equipped, kitchen overlooking front terrace - includes all appliances, washing machine, and informal seating area.
* Expansive terrace offering a sweeping view of the village and the legendary Aegean. Outdoor seating for small or large groups - ideal for entertaining.
* Large back patio for private, secluded moments.
* Convenient road access and parking.
* weekly cleaning and weekly linen change.
GUESTHOUSE (accommodation for 2-4 persons) - Charming, three-room unit possessing the same sophistication in both architectural design and décor while providing a more intimate atmosphere.
Guest House features:
* Unusual, enchanting, red-stone, domed bedroom which originally served as the bakery oven of the village.
* Two steps up from the ‘bakery’ bedroom is a 3/4 bath with village views.
* Living area with comfortable built-in beds - can double as additional sleeping accommodation for two.
* Kitchenette with informal seating area - opens onto common terrace and view.
* Weekly cleaning and linen change.
A holiday here affords the visitor a unique opportunity to experience the magic and tranquility of traditional Greek island village life, broken only by the sound of occasional church bells or the bray of a donkey, as it was 50 years ago, prior to the earthquake of 1956. Its serene setting provides both privacy and a retreat from the hustle and bustle of a resort or hotel while being situated a mere 15 minutes by car from the capital of Fira or only 5 minutes from the beautiful, black, sandy beach of Camari, both with a myriad of restaurants, cafes, bars, and clubs to cater for any taste. This property is ideal for both outdoor and indoor entertaining. Catering services can be arranged upon request as well as additional cleaning at an extra charge.

We loved our stay...it was like stepping back in time, but with the comforts of home. The villa is beautiful and tastefully decorated. It offers intimate space as well as more open space for entertaining and socializing. The kitchen is well-stocked with everything you need to prepare a gourmet meal. There are two outdoor areas for enjoying the warm weather. The larger patio has a view of the sea. The guest house worked well for the young adults in our group giving them their own private living quarters. It's very cute...sleeps 4, has a kitchenette and a bathroom. The villa location is ideal. There are two wineries, one just a short walk from the house and another a little further down the road. The Yellow Donkey Brewing Company is within walking distance as well. Also nearby is a charming outdoor movie theater and Kamari beach with many restaurants and shops to explore. The owner is very knowledgable about Santorini, i.e. things to do, sights to see and places to eat. While we were there, she arranged a spa day for us at the villa. All of us enjoyed a wonderful massage. Now, it doesn't get much more relaxing than that! Our vacation at the villa was memorable...one we will reflect on and treasure for many years to come. I highly recommend staying here and enjoyilng the ambience of this home and Santorini!Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with teenagers.

This is an incredible rental property on Santorini and we really enjoyed our stay here! The villa is spacious and has a beautiful view of the water. It is close to many tourist attractions including the town of Fira, the beach and shops at Kamari, and numerous wineries and tavernas. It is located in the village of Mesa Gonia and there are many great places to walk around and explore. We enjoyed the most beautiful sunset at the Santo's winery just up the hill from the property. The villa was very clean and well maintained and the owner was very helpful in answering any questions we had. I would definitely recommend this rental property for anyone who is looking to enjoy a relaxing vacation on the island of Santorini! Cheers!Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

First off, describing this place as "villa" doesn't do it justice, this place is HUGE!! As an architecture buff and construction professional, I was amazed by the design of this home built into the side of a hill. I later learned they call this sort of construction in Santorini, cave homes, due to the fact that they are partially built into the side of the hill/cave...very cool. The home was beautifully decorated and provided for great entertaining in a large open living room and outdoor patio with a 180-degree view of the ocean. There was always a nice breeze coming through the open living room that provided for a comfortable stay during the hot summer days. During the first couple days while I was adjusting to the time difference, I was up in time for the sunrise and I can't say I've seen a more beautiful sunrise anywhere in the world!!! Also, there is a very cool church built up into the side of the mountain cliffs if you look towards the South from the front door, if you're up for an adventure, it's a fun hike up there!! One of my favorite characteristics about the home was its close proximity to just about everywhere you will want to go: -Airport...5 min drive -Grocery...4 min drive -Kamari...3 min drive -Outdoor theater...2 min drive (VERY COOL, A MUST SEE) -Yellow Donkey Brewing...3 min walk (at the end of the block) -Numerous wineries on the same street...couple minute walk -Fira...8 min drive Everything you could ever want to do on Santorini within a few minute drive, plus a brewery and a couple wineries (with $5 liters of fresh wine) within walking distance, what more could you ask for!?! In short, if you're going to Santorini for a wedding, leisure, adventure, business, or just because, THIS IS THE PLACE TO STAY, HANDS DOWN!!!Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers, people with disabilities.

We stayed at this lovely home for a week. The home is spacious and fully equipped for your stay, with a full kitchen including a washer. The large patio area has a view of the village and the Aegean. It is in a quiet residential area away from the crowds. The pictures and description are very accurate. Just looking at them again takes me right back there. The property is very clean and well maintained. An added plus is that owner lives in Santorini and is a wealth of information about places to go, the best beaches, and places to eat. There are two wineries right down the road, as well as a brewery. Kamari beach is literally 5 minutes away with lots of tavernas and a wide beach. The island is small enough that nothing is very far away so you can easily experience both the busy areas of Fira and Oia and the ancient ruins of Akrotiri. If you need to stay in touch - there is even wi-fi and satellite TV. The owner has worked for years to lovingly rebuild and modernize a centuries-old structure - part of it used to be the village bakery! Ask to see the original pictures - you will be amazed. I would definintely recommend this property to a friend or relative.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with teenagers.

We visited Santorini in August 2010 and stayed at "Villa Lianne" nestled in the hillside of Mesa Gonia overlooking the landscape of the little town and fields with the sea in the distance and we loved it! We were a group of 3 couples and 3 teenage children and we rented both the larger house and the smaller studio. The accommodation can sleep up to 13 and this is with 3 bedrooms and then several couch type beds for the teenagers. The kitchen in the large house is very well equipped and we shopped at nearby stores and prepared most of our breakfasts and lunches in the villa. Some evenings we would also all have dinner on the gorgeous large cobblestoned patio overlooking the town of Mesa Gonia. The kitchen also has a washing machine so laundry was no problem. There are 3 full bathrooms and all are very unique, my favorite was the cave like walk in shower - so charming and functional as it is large with a wonderful built-in stone seat! All the ceilings are vaulted giving the whole home an airy quality that was welcome in the warm weather. You can walk around this quiet little village (we felt like the only tourists) and purchase open wine at the Argiros Winery which is just down a little cobblestone road from the villa, most of the fields surrounding the village are used for the grapes of this small local winery. We rented 2 cars so we could dash off separately to shop or see the island or head to the beach and nothing was more relaxing than returning to our own private villa at the end of the day......I would have to say the best part of the entire stay was the privacy and quiet of this wonderful rustic villa! We are already planning a return trip!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with teenagers.
