This house is booked through late August, but if you need a rental in June, July or August I recommend looking at VRBO #429483. It's next door to my home, and is owned by the couple who manage this property for me. The house is wonderful, sleeps 8-10, and they still have some openings for the summer.
If you want a quintessential Portland experience, then our lovely yet comfortable home located in the Hawthorne District - one of Portland's most popular and charming neighborhoods - is for you. The house is perfect for a weekend getaway, a family vacation or a gathering of friends. It is also a thoughtfully appointed and comfortable home-away-from-home for business travelers and others needing an extended stay. The house has 'real beds' for up to 6 persons. Two more can be accommodated using the couch that converts to a firm platform double bed.
You will have an authentic Portland experience as you explore nearby popular eateries and bars, unique boutiques, welcoming coffee houses, neighborhood parks, and live theater, film and music venues -- all within easy walking distance. Portland's own New Seasons Market is a few blocks away on Hawthorne Blvd.
Beyond the Hawthorne District and surrounding neighborhoods, everything Portland has to offer is easily accessible via bicycle or Portland's renowned public transportation system. (You'll be close to two bus lines and, if you have a car, the house has an off-street parking space.)
If you prefer to stay close to home, you will find this house a wonderful place to relax. Original art is throughout. The big window seat is an inviting perch for reading or napping. So is the spacious couch in front of the fireplace. In the evenings, unwind in the paved patio/garden, make dinner in the fully equipped kitchen or on the Weber (charcoal) grill, then watch a favorite movie on the large HDTV. (Every movie you can imagine is available at nearby, world-famous Mike's Movie Madness.)
At day's end, snuggle in to a king-sized bed in the oasis-like master bedroom, or a queen in the 'Pendleton room' or 'Water room.'

Spent a nice long weekend at this place in Portland. The house is clean and modern with comfortable beds. Nice bathrooms with plenty of clean towels. I have nothing negative to say. You can walk to good restaurants, grocery, pubs, whatever you would need. The neighbors were friendly. The owner was cool and easy to deal with. We will rent again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The property is well represented by the photos. Fairly new with all the amenities required for a great stay. Loved the fact that you had the choice of Hawthorne or Belmont streets on either side. Very quiet location, beds comfortable, nice gas fireplace. Enjoyed exploring Mt Tabor and areas of Portland we have never been. Nice to be on the East side of the river. Elizabeth was extremely helpful in answering all our questions. Great internet access (for those of us who still had to work a little.) There is a wealth of eating, drinking, shopping places, too many to recommend.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed here in mid July with our in-laws and our two young children (ages 2 & 4). The set up was great because the in-laws got their own private bed and bath in the lower floor and we were upstairs with the kids. I loved how we could walk to get coffee in the morning or good eats at the pod on Belmont. Also, we did a lot of shopping at New Seasons. It was clean and had all the amenities we needed. Thanks for making our vacation fantastic!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children.

I can only ditto what everyone else has written and agree that this is the best VRBO home we've stayed in. Having a bathroom on each of the three floors was great. Amy came over immediately when we had a question about the gas fireplace. It was unseasonably hot (94!), so we really appreciated the a.c. in the 3rd floor bedrooms. It was blissfully quiet and we all slept really well. We were in and out of town and all over the place. The location was perfect for us. We didn't use the garage, but it would be a great asset for families carrying bikes or needing to store camping equipment or whatever. It was really convenient to be able to park in front of it. We've stayed before in places where parking was hit or miss.Unless stairs are an issue, I think anyone would love this townhouse.
