The dining area has a large bay window where you can watch for wildlife while eating your meals. The living room is inviting and tastefully decorated. The leather sofa is great for naps and comfortable chairs along with a few antiques, add to its eclectic style. The natural stacked stone fireplace reaches up over 14' and in the Fall and Winter months, the gas logs add to the room's ambiance and create additional warmth and coziness. Two master bedroom suites, each with a private bath plus a third bedroom and adjacent bath, provide wonderfully comfortable sleeping options for guests. All beds are queen sized. The home's split-plan layout provides complete comfort and guest privacy.

Or, simply dig out that book you packed and planned to read while on vacation, curl up on the couch or pick a chair on the front porch, and start turning the pages. There is plenty to do and see....or keep that promise you made to yourself, and simply do nothing.....that's the great thing about vacation.

My wife and I were recently blessed to stay in this wonderful vacation "home" in this area of North Carolina where we've vacationed many times in the past and have come to love and cherish as our favorite get away from our home in Florida. I emphasized the word "home" as this vacation property stands above and beyond most every other place we've ever stayed. It felt more like being in a loved and cared for home vs. a track vacation house with generic furniture and limited personality. From the gorgeous antiques and stand glass windows to the extremely peaceful and quiet surroundings, we couldn't have asked for anything better. We can't wait to get back next year and spend another week in this precious place. Larry and Donna are the consumate hosts and equally enjoy their hospitality, friendly and warm disposition and caring nature. In the future, whenever we choose to vacation in the Hendersonville area, this will be our #1 place to stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Dear Donna and Larry, We are still talking about our wonderful trip to Hendersonville and how much we miss our home. Uncle Henry was in heaven in his very own boudoir and Moma thinks of Crab Creek as her house. It was perfect from arrival to departure. The gift basket was such a sweet thought as well as the what I forgot box.Hurricane Sandy played the devil up here but my flight back to Ct. went without a hitch.CLandP finally restored power yesterday.Thank the good Lord for generators. We loved meeting you both and are still in awe of the beautiful stained glass we were so blessed and privleged to enjoy. We will see you the same time next year 20th thru the 26th 2013.Happy Holidays.Recommended for: Girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

owners were very helpful and had many extra supplies and a welcoming basket. The home was clean with many beautiful features such as the stained glass windows. It was close to Hendersonville and the downtown Main Street was truly a step back in time. We enjoyed Mike's on Main Street decor and food. Everyone we met were friendly and helpful. We went to the falls at the nearby Dupont forest and also went to Biltmore estates for a day. The scenery was awesomeRecommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Crab Creek House is so clean and comfortable and the owners so accommodating that it seemed more like home than where I currently live! The house and grounds are beautiful, of course (the photos look exactly like the real thing), and so well appointed that the owners' invitation to "make yourself at home" seemed the most natural thing in the world. I had a minor medical emergency during our stay, and the people Larry and Donna recommended were just as helpful as they were: it was completely taken care of the next day! I would highly recommend a stay at Crab Creek House.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+.

My husband and I were lucky enough to stay at Crab Creek House for the entire month of July 2012. The home is beautifully decorated and totally immaculate. You have every amenity right at your fingertips. As I love to cook, it meant a lot to me to have a clean and fully-equipped kitchen. The peace and quiet at this delightful home was so welcome. You can sit on the front or back porches and admire the beautiful landscaping, trees and flowers. Sit still and you will be rewarded with seeing a hummingbird stop on a pretty flower for a sip of nectar. The close proximity to DuPont and Pisgah Forests is an added plus. We love to hike and the location made this very convenient for us. The stained glass throughout the house is breath-taking and mostly done by the owner. We were mesmerized by the beauty of all of it. I could not end this without an extra special Thank-You to the owners of Crab Creek House. They are so friendly and ready and willing to answer any questions about the area in addition to simply adding that extra bit of welcome and friendliness. We felt very much at home here and highly recommend it.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We enjoyed our initial vacation time at Crab Creek House in 2011, but our return in 2012 was even better. We caught one of those mountain summer cool spells and every morning on the porch was pure refreshment. A day of rain only gave us a needful rest and other days found us in Hendersonville or Brevard browsing and eating wonderful mountain deli treats and British pub dishes. We discovered the outstanding Civil War collection in the Old Courthouse museum and a breathtaking lunch view at Mt. Pisgah Inn on the Parkway. Crab Creek house has every needed amenity and offers you restful hours for the soul and exciting new experiences for the mind. We recommend it and the Knotts without reservation.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so very much for taking the time to submit a review on your return visit to Crab Creek House. Larry and I felt honored that you chose our home once again for your trip to the mountains, especially since this was your the week of your anniversary. It is "music" to our ears to hear you describe what the visit meant to you and how Crab Creek House played such a complimentary role in your relaxation and respite in the mountains. The weather during your stay was magnificent indeed! Thank you again and we look forward to the opportunity of serving you again in the future!

What a beautiful place to stay! The house is privately situated in the woods, and is very clean, comfy and cozy. Lovely Crab Creek runs right under your driveway! The expansive front porch is a great place to rest & read while listening to the birds and enjoying your "afternoon tea!" Conveniently located, staying here gives you great access to Hendersonville, Asheville, Brevard, The Biltmore Estate, plus Holmes & Dupont State Forests. All of the many local (& beautiful) waterfalls are very close by. Our plans are to return next year to continue exploring & enjoying this beautiful area in North Carolina. We can guarantee, without question, that you will truly enjoy your hosts Larry & Donna, and the comfort and beauty of The Crab Creek House.Recommended for: Girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We were looking for an area that had Hiking, Fly Fishing, Sightseeing, for an adult family of four. We needed quiet private bedrooms, high speed internet for my daughter's college studies. We like to grill and eat in...enjoying the atmosphere around the location. We have stayed in cabins from Upper Michigan to the Mountains of West Virginia. Crab Creek is excellent, it was everything and more, We Will Return. Larry and Donna were great hosts, I Thank them for their Hospitality. Our favorite "sight" we enjoyed was "Pretty Place".Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2003
About the owner: Larry and Donna Knott moved to the mountains of Western North Carolina from Hernando, MS (near Memphis). When Larry sold his business, Donna, a native to NC, said 'let's go to NC!' Larry, a Memphian, and retired stained-glass artisan, previously owned and operated a commercial stained glass studio in the Mid-South region (MS/TN/AR) . After relocating, Larry opened and operated a second studio in Hendersonville. He enjoyed being a 'gentleman glass artisan until September of 2012, when he finally decided he was 'done'. Now he piddles with wood projects and whatever peaks his interest. He still loves for folks to drop in and visit. Donna loves gardening and decorating. You'll find her involved in hands-on projects of all types and have the benefit of her decorating touch in the house. They both love to entertain and enjoy spending time with friends. They are truly enjoying the opportunity to make new friends in the guests of Crab Creek House. Larry is also an old street-rodder and at one time, owned a nationally ranked '34 Ford 3-window coupe.
Why the Owner Chose Hendersonville:
We purchased this home after more than 5 years of searching Western North Carolina for our little piece of heaven. We looked at researched numerous areas in the region, but the Henderson and Transylvania County areas stood out for they provided 'four seasons' and weather which nears perfection. Even on warmer summer days, the nights cool off and frequently a sweatshirt or jacket is needed for comfort. The other plus is easy and convenient access to Asheville. The moment we turned into the driveway of this home, we knew 'this was it!' We had to have it. It is an awesome spot and everyone who visits shares our sentiment and departs with an full understanding how it stole our hearts.
The home is cedar-sided and situated on 7 wooded acres, overlooking Crab Creek. The property is covered with mountain laurel and rhododendron. There are rock formations, too. It is 'gently' removed and quite private, yet convenient to everything. Its location makes it a perfect 'base camp' for exploring the region, sightseeing. We believe this home was waiting to choose us....not the other way around! It will capture your your heart as well, just like it did ours! We'd love to share it with YOU!
