Charming 1 Bedroom Guesthouse
- Minimum stay:N/A

- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Our charming 1 bedroom guesthouse is just a 5 minute walk from "beautiful" Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste, on the first entrance road. It has a spacious feeling for a small casa, with vaulted wood panel ceiling and bi-level room separation of 2 stone steps up from the living room to the kitchen and bedroom. There are lovely wooden interior doors and molding with smoked glass Balinesian sliding doors to the bedroom.
We are situated next door to a lovely, small boutique hotel which offers fine and relaxed dining and live music several times a week during high season. We are walking distance from 3 beachfront restaurants, 5 off beach restaurants and a grocery store.
Playa Hermosa is located in a large bay and has gentle waves which is perfect for swimming and safe for children's play. The sand is firm and popular for jogging and walking. From our beach you can arrange sunset cruises, fishing trips, Diving tours, snorkling tours and kayak rental.
We are a perfect place to relax at the beach without a car, and with a rental car, a great base camp for exploring the Rincon de la Vieja National Park, and Palos Verdes National (Wetlands) Park. We are a 3 1/2 hour drive from the Arenal Volcano, and 1 hour from Tamarindo and Playa Grande, famous for surfing. We are close to two zip line attractions, and the Papagayo Marina.
Although we live next door to the guesthouse, and the Specialty Hotel, it affords privacy and security without a "gated community" feeling.

My husband Peter and I stayed from March 18th to 25th at this charming guesthouse in Playa Hermosa. Both Paul and Nan are a delight and made sure all of our needs were met. The two pools at the Villa del Suenos Hotel next door and El Oasis across the street were lovely with a welcoming atmosphere. The temperature was HOT and dry. From the casita we enjoyed watching parrots, turkeys, a very large iguana and the last day about 20 howler monkeys....alll came for the mangos and put on a wonderful show for us. Playa Coco was about 15 minutes away by car and is a bustling town with restaurants and plenty of souvenir shops and a good swimming beach. The beach near the casita is a short 5 minute walk and you can also find vendors, restaurants, and opportunities for snorkeling, fishing, diving, trips...or just "lazy out" and enjoy the sun and people. WE highly recommend the casita for a stay in Playa Hermosa that provides privacy with all the amenities close at hand.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you Jane and Peter for your positive comments. It was our pleasure to meet you and we are so pleased that you enjoyed Play Hermosa!

My husband and I spent a relaxing week in Playa Hermosa and we absolutely loved staying at Paul and Nan's casita. We loved being able to have breakfast at 'home' and relaxing in the afternoons on the shady front patio watching the monkeys and the birds. Playa Hermosa was a perfect location for a quiet vacation. The beach was gorgeous, quiet and clean and we couldn't get over how many excellent restaurants were located in such a small town. The casita was only a short walk to the beach so we spent each morning on the beach and every afternoon at the pool next door. Excursions were quickly arranged at the hotel next door, and Paul and Nan were great hosts with lots of helpful hints for maximizing our vacation time. We can't wait to return to Playa Hermosa again and we wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you Lisa and John for your positive review. We enjoy sharing with others like yourselves, who enjoy a quiet setting and sincerely hope you can return soon.

My wife, daughter, and I stayed here for 4 nights. We have been bragging about our stay since we got back to the USA. Everything said in the other reviews was absolutely correct. Don't let the low price scare you away, incredible value. We can't stay in our own hometown for that kind of money! I loved the fact that there was no extra charge for a third person or an expensive cleaning fee. Casita was quiet, clean, and fantastic. A woman from from Pennsylvania wandered into our area looking for something else. I showed her the casita and told her how much it cost. She said it was 3 times nicer than the Playa Hermosa Hotel they were staying at, and less than half the cost! Paul and Nan are awesome Christian people! Our daughter teased us that they are our new "besties". We can't wait to someday go back to Costa Rica and visit with Playa Hermosa once again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you for your helpful review We enjoyed meeting you three and hope you can come again to see more... but you certainly sa and did A LOT in 4 days!!!

We had a great time here with our one year old son who took advantage of the great house and surroundings to perfect his walking! It was only a short walk to the beach which was practically deserted and gorgeous. Perfect for swimming and chilling out. Paul and Nan were so helpful and friendly, we felt right at home and loved the convenience of the washer/dryer and having our own space to cook and relax. We will defenitely stay here again, we loved it and highly recommend it, a super good value!Recommended for: Families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you for taking time to write this review. We enjoyed meeting your family and are so delighted that you enjoyed your stay.

I’ve traveled all over Costa Rica & this Casita (small house) is by far one of my favorites. Here’s why… First, the owners, Paul & Nan (US Citizens & official Residents of Costa Rica) are two of the most kind, most genuine individuals you’ll ever come to know in your life. They live right next door are extremely accommodating. Thinking about a destination wedding? Nan fulfilled my wife & I’s dream of a getting married in Costa Rica thus avoiding any doubts & hesitations we had with online destination wedding planners. From flowers to the location, Nan took care of everything & I’m sure she’d consider doing the same for you for less than what you’ll find anywhere else. Second, for what you get you will find no better deal. Amenities include a full kitchen with cooking utensils & a blender. The casita also has a nice clean bathroom with hot shower, air conditioning, ceiling fan, a comfortable futon, TV, wiFi, fridge/freezer, table with chairs - both inside & out, & access to a secure bodega with a washer/dryer & ample amount of storage space. Third, the location is unbeatable. The Casita is a short walk from the beach. Activities at Playa Hermosa include snorkeling, ocean kayaking, body surfing, swimming, bird (& monkey) watching, & great fishing (Mahi Mahi, Tuna, Red Snapper, amongst others). Within a short drive from Playa Hermosa you can access even more snorkeling/diving, jet skiing, sunset sails, hiking, biking, horseback riding, & canopy tours. If night life is your thing, a quick 10 minute drive will get you to Playe del Coco. If you’ve got time to explore, popular Nicoya Peninsula destinations such as Tamarindo, Playa Grande, Playa Conchal, Playa Flamingo are are anywhere from 1 to 2 hours away. A four hour drive you will get you to Monteverde Cloud Forest, which in my opinion is quintessential Costa Rica. Fourth, Playa Hermosa is a great destination for all you foodies out there. There are great restaurants within walking distance from the casita and a short drive opens up a world of epicurean delights – anywhere from typical Costa Rican cuisine to classic French to Texas barbeque. Finally, Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste is just a short drive from Liberia International airport. Once you land, fairly maintained paved roads will get you to the casita within about 30 minutes. There are a number of ways to get from Liberia International to Playa Hermosa including renting a car, bus or making arrangements with owners Paul & Nan.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

My husband and I stayed in this casita twice for two very special occasions (our wedding and our first anniversary). The owners are fabulous to coordinate with, and the property is stunning. Even though the casita is not located right on the beach, we could still hear the waves crashing any time of the day. The beach is a 2 minute walk away. We loved sitting outside on the porch in the mornings listening to the birds and howler monkeys. We have stayed at other places in Costa Rica, paying over $130/night, and those properties did not come close to comparing to this casita. The convenience of the kitchen and close proximity to the Playa Hermosa hotel are unbeatable. (The Playa Hermosa hotel restaurant serves affordable and tasty food). Playa Hermosa is a great home base in Guanacaste - close to Playa del Coco and relativity close to Playas Avellanas, Tamirindo, and Grande (about a one hour drive). We drove to Monteverde from Playa Hermosa, and enjoyed the drive almost as much as we enjoyed the cloud forest! One of my favorite things about the Playa Hermosa area is the beaches - Playa Hermosa is stunning, Playa Panama is amazing, and Playa Ocotal is breath-taking. You will not regret staying at this casita in Playa Hermosa; it will be a life-changing experience. Enjoy!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: We were delighted and honored to be a part of your beautiful beach wedding, and welcome you to return for as many anniversaries as you can!

I stayed in this adorable, elegantly detailed casita for two weeks. Had everything I could want....both casual and fine dining. At the beach I could picnic, swim, lounge, walk or just dream. Many beautiful beaches and restaurants in nearby towns to explore. Fun to hear and watch the birds and monkeys. So much to do and so relaxing. A.C. was always there to cool you down if you needed it. Very lovely and fun stay. Can't wait to return!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Your visit was a special time for us, to share the beauty of our beach, and the Papagayo vacation wonderland, with family whose visit was long awaited! Come back soon!!!!

We can't wait to return for yet another vacation in this beautiful, inviting get-a-way cottage. It has all the conveniences of home in a beautfiul, compact, efficient, and pleasing atmosphere. You'll fall in love with the beautiful detail of the wood ceiling and tile floors. You can sit on your private porch and enjoy the sounds of birds and howler monkeys. There are beautiful flowers, banana trees, and palms surrounding your casita. It was so wonderful being able to WALK to the beach at a moments notice. It is a block away and we walked several times a day. There is a beautiful restaurant there where you can order drinks and meals. We would then cool off in the ocean, and come back to the lounge chairs at the beach, to watch the fishing boats, and occasional yacht cruise by. We also saw a whale breach not far from shore. There are wonderful restaurants in walking distance, or you can drive to other beaches, if desired. Stocking your refridgerator enables you to picnic on the beach, as well. The air-conditioned casita was so comfortable after a day at the beach. A nice shower and a relaxing nap or TV program, and we were ready for more activites at the beach....what nice clear water! We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: We are delighted that you enjoyed your vacation and hope you will return soon!!!!
