Escape the heat & humidity at “Sunset View”. Really, one can enjoy spectacular sunsets across the quiet waters of Green Glade cove from the porch and lakeside rooms of this cottage. Away from the hustle and boat traffic of the busiest areas of the lake, the glassy morning conditions are sought by paddlers & serious skiers, yielding the elongated cove to family oriented boaters as the day awakes. The mosquito free lawn slopes gently to the shore. Enjoy evenings around the natural stone fire pit. Shallow water suitable for youngsters, deep water at swim deck on class A dock. Boat slip available.
Quiet, children friendly neighborhood and virtually no vehicular traffic, yet linked to challenging running and cycling routes. This family owned house isn’t the prettiest on the shore, but it nicely accommodates both active and leisure pursuits.

Today was the dreaded day! The day we had to leave! My family and I had a great time here. Plenty of room for everyone. The firepit was great. Loved waking up in the master bedroom, sitting up and seeing the lake. The walk to the water was so easy. I cant brag enough about this rental. Dog friendly which was awesome since paying for a kennel is more that a week in this house. The linens included made life so much easier when travelling 6 hrs from home. (less packing)The weather was a little cooler than I hoped but when the sun came out is was wonderful. We drove our boat to Pizzeria Uno, The ice cream store and coffee store. What more could you ask for. My only complaint was the boat ramp was a bit out of the way(about 20 min car ride) only 10 min by boat. The owner Tom was so easy to deal with. Almost too easy, no contract which I hear is how most of his neighbors that rent do the same thing. Very trustworthy neighborhood. I would recommend this home to anyone. We hope to visit again in the future.

Owner response: Thank you for your kind words, and I'm so glad that you enjoyed your visit to Sunset View. I'm partial to Brenda's Pizzeria, but Uno's is a fine choice and both are accessible via boat! Booking early worked out well for you: you locked in the week that you wanted and took advantage of the early bird discount. I look forward to accommodating you again soon. Cheers!

Our stay at Sunset View was everything we thought it would be plus more. The home was very accommodating for our group of 8. Walking through the doors this rental felt like home. There was plenty of room in this spacious home as we did not feel that we were tripping over each other. The kitchen had plenty of room - usually there were 3 or so cooks in the kitchen preparing meals. Lots of meals, games and catching up went on at the huge dining room table. The view from the master bedroom upstairs was breathtaking. All the bedrooms were a good size. The outside area was extremely nice. Everyone in the group had their opportunity to nap in the hammock or gaze at the lake. We enjoyed our evenings around the fire pit catching up and roasting marshmallows. Fishing was a breeze from the shoreline of this property as there were no obstacles to get caught up in while casting. The view from this property was spectacular. The sunsets were more than gorgeous - this is a prime location to watch the sunset. The owner was very helpful and quick to answer any questions I had. The only downfall that I can think of is this property is pretty far from stores, restaurants and activities, but we wanted a quiet place to relax and get away from it all so it was a great location for my group. I highly recommend this rental for anyone that is looking for the perfect getaway to enjoy relaxing time with friends and family.

Owner response: I am glad that you enjoyed your visit. Our quiet cove is away from the hustle and bustle areas of Deep Creek Lake, yet close enough for a quick errand, a dinner out, or a rainy day movie while staying at Sunset View. I look forward to accommodating your family and friends again. Thank you!

We would recommend this property to anyone who would like a house which is very comfy and homey. It was clean and well-maintained to accommodate our group of 10. The view of the lake is spectacular and we got to utilize the fire pit because the weather was warmer than expected for the end of December. Even though you are in a secluded area, a short drive away you can enjoy nice restaurants and skiing; although the weather did not cooperate for good skiing conditions while we were there so we didn't get the chance to enjoy snow activities, but we did see the slopes. The owner is very accommodating with any questions you may have and gets back to you immediately. He was very helpful in many ways to assist us in our stay. My only suggestion with regard to the listing, would be the mention of bathrooms. It states there are 1.5 bathrooms, which I thought would be 1 full bathroom and a toilet and sink for the 2nd bathroom, when in fact the 2nd bathroom also has a shower. It was a nice surprise to see the shower in the 2nd bathroom because with 10 people it made life much easier to have two fully equipped bathrooms. We would love to see the property in the spring and summer months. It must be quite beautiful!

Owner response: Preferring to err on the conservative side, the main level bath has a shower rather than a tub, it is technically not a full bath. Hence the designation as 1.5 baths. It may be an old fashioned shower stall, but it has great water pressure and plenty of hot water! Great after a day in the lake, or on it as the season allows. Thank you.

About the owner: We enjoy the intensity of sport and the tranquility of quiet. Our getaway cottage at DCL is conducive to both. The intensity of summer water sports, winter skiing and snowboarding, and the 'down' time afforded by simply getting away from the demands of business and school. At DCL, we can enjoy both in the same day.
Why the Owner Chose Swanton:
We purchased our house as a family getaway. It's on the quiet end of the lake, away from the busiest areas yet accessible to everything that Deep Creek Lake has to offer. The house itself plays a supporting role to the getaway lifestyle, but it undergoes frequent improvements to make it a comfortable yet simple environment. Most of our children are at college or beyond, and we do not get to the lake as frequently as we would like. So, we've made it available as a vacation rental for other families to enjoy.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The lake quiets down each evening, transforming into a smooth mirror reflecting the night sky. The interaction with family and friends around the fire pit proves that getting away from electronic stimuli is a very good thing for all. This dad cherishes the early morning mist on the lake, and tranquil boat rides through it to Traders Coffee House. Days are filled with the joyous sounds of youth. My children prefer wake boarding and tubing, while I learned to slalom ski in the aquatic playground that is our front yard. The tradition of Daddy-Daughter cruises at dusk, with my young daughter at the helm. Memories are truly created here.
