My husband, teenage children, and parents spent our spring break week in this fabulous house and could not have made a better choice. I'm sure I will echo what all the other reviewers said but I felt I had to give a recent review. The house was perfect in every way: location, size, and amenities. We felt like we were in our own private resort with plenty of space both inside and out. The house has every detail that one could want, and was decorated beautifully. We were probably there during the least attractive time - in between seasons, but the property was still stunningly beautiful. The people of Bozeman were just lovely, and we started several conversations with people on the street by petting their dogs. They were friendly and genuinely interested in what had brought us to Bozeman from North Carolina. And of course Bronwyn and Tom were just wonderful. We had more contact with Tom but both were quick with responses to our questions and Tom kept us with a supply of wood for our nightly fire in that gorgeous fireplace. He built most of that house himself and is a true craftsman. I can't think of a more perfect house, setting or set of homeowners with whom to deal. It was a very memorable vacation in large part because of this fabulous property and home owners.... perfect in every way!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

My family's Christmas vacation at the Sourdough Canyon Lodge in Bozeman, Montana was delightful. The lodge- inside and outside- is beautiful and fit our family of 10 perfectly. The winter ambiance, complete with a roaring fire and views of the snowy landscape, provided a lovely setting for our Montana Christmas. We prepared a full Christmas Eve dinner in the modern kitchen, invited friends, and served the dinner on the long, functional table in the great room. We enjoyed many activities the area has to offer: skiing at Bridger Bowl for beginners, intermediate and advanced; soaking in the Boiling River at Yellowstone, shopping downtown at Main street's unique stores, sipping coffee at Wild Joes and The Daily, and chomping on Burgers at Burger Bobs. The owners were very responsive to our requests for assistance. I would highly recommend this property and would love to come back and experience the lodge and the outdoor activities in the summer.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your lovely review Peggy! I always like to hear encouraging words from our renters. We would love to have you back for your next Montana vacation. I'm so happy you had a wonderful white Christmas!

We held a family vacation at the Lodge with five of our grandchildren. We all loved the house and its surroundings. The kids loved playing hide and seek inside the lodge. It was two weeks of great fun. Bronwyn and Tom were gracious and warm. I would easily recommend the Lodge for those who wantto stay in the Bozeman/Yellowstone area. You are about 10 minutes from Bozeman but it feels like you are way out in the country. The Lodge is huge, warmly decorated and an absolute joy to stay in. Highly recommend it. Thank you for hosting us in your lovely home.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Wow! We are seasoned vacation home renters, but this home surpassed our expectations! The photos of the home caught our attention, but, as good as they were, they didn't begin to convey the beauty of the home. It was my job to find a rental that would satisfy my husband. I'm an architect, so I'm usually confident that I can accomplish that task, but it's very satisfying when I pick a home that exceeds all expectations. Every aspect of the home was wonderful. However, there were things that we didn't expect to find. We didn't expect to go to sleep to the sound of a babbling brook. We didn't expect to share our mornings with the deer in the yard. We didn't expect to sit on the porch and watch a beaver swimming in the pond. We didn't expect to find a secluded, country setting just 8 minutes from town. We didn't expect to get to know the delightful owners of this beautiful home. Do we recommend this home....yes, yes, yes!!! Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a beautiful experience at the Sourdough Canyon Lodge.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Pamela, Thank you so much for the lovely review of our lodge! It was a pleasure to get to know you and John, I'm so happy you enjoyed your stay in Montana! Bronwyn and Tom

We have been renting villas and properties as an alternative to staying in hotels while traveling for almost two decades and in that time I can say without hesitation that our stay at the Sourdough Canyon Lodge was far and away the best experience we have had to date. While many rentals will over promise and under deliver, Sourdough Canyon promises a lot and still manages to over deliver. The gorgeous open plan kitchen was brilliantly designed and literally a joy to cook in. The family of deer joined who joined us for breakfast across the pond each morning. Spacious bathrooms and bedrooms. A beautiful porch upon which to enjoy the sunset while being serenaded by the gurgling brook that runs through the property. Hiking trails 2km down the road. Easy access to the beautiful town of Bozeman. I could go on and on but I want to leave you to discover some of the magic yourself! Enjoy the stay!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you Scott and Wen Ling! I'm so happy you and your sweet family enjoyed the lodge. Come back to Montana! Bronwyn and Tom

We had a great time and the house was amazing. The setting (creek and pond in the back yard) was perfect. We had 3 young boys (10-13) that kept themselves entertained swimming in the creek and exploring the property. Great location! Beautiful house/property!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers.

We were so impressed with the spacious rooms. The care and love that went into creating this unique and creative house. The owner/builder is a fine craftsman and staying here was a joy for our family and friends because of the hand-crafted furniture, artwork, and wonderful well-furnished kitchen for cooking. Plenty of indoor, outdoor seating for eating and conversation, or lounging! We enjoyed the huge fireplace at night. And during the day the patio, with sounds of the waterfall on the pond, so relaxing. The outdoor surroundings are intimate and we felt very private. The location is convenient to Bozeman, so we easily enjoyed all the great restaurants, the museum, hikes, while retreating to the countryside, staying at the Lodge. My mother is elderly, uses a walker and this place was perfect for her to get around on the ground floor, and access the porch with no worries, safely. We were completely satisfied with our stay here, and highly recommend it. The owners were very helpful with the special request for the comfort and safe needs of my mother's visit. A real unique, beautiful lodge.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

How do you characterize or describe “perfect” as well as so reasonable in price; considering the size, features, beauty, convenient location and spaciousness of the home. We had the genuine pleasure to enjoy and rent this country and beautiful Sourdough Valley home of Bronwyn and Tom for four days in August 2011. The property description in its advertisement and photos were fine and true, but in person the actual home and property were so much finer and beautiful than ever could be fully shown in mere photographs. It was a wonderful place for us, truly roomy and spacious with its several thousand square feet of floor space; it’s over 25 ft. ceilings in the main room with its hand constructed natural stone fireplace. It offered us the space to comfortably fit and entertain a gathering of over 60 friends and family to celebrate at the Groom’s Dinner for our son on the eve of his wedding in Bozeman the next day. The house is an individually unique and spacious vacation rental just 6 miles outside of the heart of Bozeman, Montana in beautiful and idyllic Sourdough Canyon, with its two floors of giant rooms, very tall ceilings, heated tile bathroom floors, and natural wood carved stairs, railings, and much of the furnishing’s throughout the house which were created and realized by Tom, who as a master cabinet and fine wood maker not only conceived and built the entire home; but also his use of all natural woods and beautifully finished/re-finished and crafted natural oak boards recovered from various barns and other beautiful old structures from around Montana. The house, which so very comfortably sleeps ten in separate and very private and quiet rooms, as well as its surrounding acreage of quiet and private land, the pond out back, the great sauna adjacent to the pond, and the great covered wood decks and porches, and adjacent stone tiled patios bracketing the house, which nicely extend the grace and functionality of the house to its lovely outdoor surroundings. Also, if you love to hike or trek, there are wonderful trail heads within a mile nearby that you can easily walk to and then enjoy the easy and beautiful surroundings to hike in. Then, for entertaining, there’s the great sound system of individually controlled high quality audio speakers throughout the house, controlled through a central entertainment system that enabled us to use our iPod (or MP) music player with our preferred music playlists as background music for our party with our selecRecommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We return to Bozeman every summer to visit with family and enjoy all that Montana has to offer. We have stayed in hotels as well as rented other lodges and ranches in the surrounding area, but this Lodge is far superior. The owners are friendly and helpful. We had 4 adults and 4 children with us and there was plenty of space and privacy for all of us, yet many common areas to hang out and enjoy one another's company. The dads and kids loved fishing on the Trout ponds and creeks. The location of the Lodge is ideal because you cannot see any homes around you while on the property. You have the feeling of complete seclusion. At the same time you are down the road from one of the best hiking trails in Bozeman, 10 minutes to town and 1.5 hours to Yellowstone. The Lodge was a perfect home base for us to head out on adventures during the day and come home and cook up a feast for our group plus our extended family. The dining room table that seats 14+ people is a dream. We loved ending each day around the fire ring next to the pond. The room for children is straight out of HGTV with hand made bunk beds for 4. The pictures you see only scratch the surface of the beauty this place holds. Staying here will change you, or at the very least give you the opportunity to recharge your batteries and count your blessings. We cannot wait to return!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Three couples stayed here and we enjoyed every minute at our lodge. It was beautifully constructed, clean and had a rustic elegance! The home was constructed by the owner and one could tell he put alot of thought and beauty into his home. It was huge but so cozy and rustic. The fireplace warmed us in the evening, and the outside sitting area was perfect when the sun was shining. The bedrooms were gorgeous, most of them with a beautiful view. The owners were wonderful-so accommodating-we lacked nothing!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
