Ocean Front Private Home. Myrtle Beach, Golden Mile.6bdr 3BA
- Minimum stay:3 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
This ocean front beach home is a true classic. The wrap around porch is so inviting that many don't stray far away from it. It has 8 rocking chairs, a Pawley's Island hammock, and a table and chairs that are perfect for a little breakfast or many other uses. The beach is only steps away so that you can walk, play, swim or sun any time of the day.
If you do happen to get a bit sandy, there are two porch showers out back to use before you get into the house, right beside the washer and dryer.
The spacious living area with sofas and large dining table allows plenty of room for watching the big screen TV, playing games or puzzles, just relaxing, or, of course, dining.
The bedrooms are configured as follows:
There is a Master bedroom downstairs with a Queen bed and private bath, and five bedrooms upstairs with another bath. The third bath is in the hallway downstairs.
Upstairs, there are two ocean-front bedrooms. One has a queen size bed in it. The other has a double and a twin.
Next to the queen is an attatched room that has two twins.
Next to that is an attatched room that has a queen.
Across the hall (next to the double and twin ocean-front, but not attatched), is a room that has two doubles in it.
Then behind that room is the bathroom.
As I mentioned earlier, there are two porch showers, and that is also where the washer and dryer and a second refrigerator are.
There are also some beach chairs, etc. out there.
The kitchen is fully equipped from coffee pot to utensils.
We also have a notebook on a shelf near the dining table with different restaurant menus of some of our favorites if you may not feel like cooking:).
Relax with the tranquility of the ocean as you relax on the porch and watch the sunset turn into a glory of stars or see a beautiful sunrise while in the hammock or a rocking chair. Either way, your troubles will be washed away at our home away from home.
Enjoy!
Libby

Our family had the pleasure of staying here at the Golden Mile. What a treat .... The home away from home met all our needs plus ! We all especially enjoyed the beautiful porch over looking the ocean. We each claimed our rocking chairs, and I for one could be found in mine while having my early morning coffee watching the dolphins perform "just for me" steps away in the ocean. We got to celebrate our son's 40th birthday while there. How lovely it was to have our lasagna dinner around the big dining table there. We found the location to be perfect for all the many restaurants and attractions. On our 2nd day there, the kids were asking if we were going to do it again next year! Yes, we are in fact, and I for one can't wait! Thanks Libby for sharing your lovely home and letting it be ours for a week. We had a blast, and summer 2013 can't get here fast enough!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Yes, my favorite place at our beach home - other than walking on the beach - is in my special rocking chair. I just love to take an ice cold lemonade and a good book, and then I enjoy watching the beachcombers and the dolphins and sea gulls. And the large dining room table is not only perfect for eating, but also great for games and puzzles. Don't forget the big screen TV! So glad y'all had a great time!

Can 3 generations enjoy a week together and request to do it again and again? Our family has off and on since 1996 in this "our house for a week" in Myrtle Beach. From the time grandkids were small, needing constant watching to grown and college grads - from 11 to 15 of us each time, we have treasured coming together at this house. Early on our walking little ones to and from the beach without crossing streets or carrying stuff a long distance was wonderful. Memories are of gathering for meals at the large dining table to puzzles, games and birthday parties. Also one or all on the wrap around porch in rockers and on the floor reading, laughing, watching the sunrise (only a few of us), and together watching as afternoon showers came across the ocean. We even had porch morning exercises for the school sports participants before they ran on the beach. There is much to do in Myrtle Beach from golf, waterparks, shopping, theatres, restaurants, parasailing, and a wonderful clean beach away from hotel crowds. Our family has over the years gone from plastic pails, sandcastles and fortresses to buggie boards, competition, beach volleyball, reading under the umbrellas, and still building sand castles. We all drive from Texas and we have our reservations in for 2012. We can hardly wait!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Well, I believe Jean just about covered it all! There are so many things to do right there at the house with its large dining table and big screen TV, on the beautiful covered porch with its many rockers and hammock, in the yard, or, of course, right on the beach in the back. Or, it's off to Myrtle Beach for its many activities that it offers, or maybe a short trip to nearby Pawley's Island or Calabash or Murrells Inslet for some great seafood or a fishing trip. Whatever your desire, you are sure to find it in your own backyard at our home.

We absolutely love this house!! We have been renting it with our friends for 13 years. It's close to anything you want to do.Having coffee in the morning, sitting on the rockers is the best!! Everyone always looks forward to the next year at the beach. Whether you are shag dancing, sunning, boogie boarding, going to shows, shopping, it's the BEST!!!! I would highly recommend it to anyone. Libby is always only a phone call away, if we need anything. We always look forward to our week at the BEACH!! The house is very big, even with 12 people, we always have plenty of room. Once you've been to this house, you will want to go back soon.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Just as Wanda said, there is plenty of room for everyone at our beach house, and everyone who has been there can't wait to go back. And it is very true that I, Libby, am just a phone call away should you need attention to anything at all. You will be provided with phone numbers should you choose to vacation at our home.

My family has spent our last 20 summer vacations in this house. It's a classic. If you're looking for "old school" charm and character, this house is for you. The Golden Mile is Myrtle Beach's best kept secret. The house has a great oceanfront porch, comfortable beds, and is two minutes(by car) from everything. We've had, and will continue to have, some great times here. I give it a 10!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Well, as Bob says, it really is just a few minutes away from everything - wonderful dining, shopping, golf, amusement parks, and outlets. And as I am told and have experienced first-hand, good times are had by all!

For almost fifteen years my family has rented this beach house and from the moment we send our deposit, family members start calling me to reserve their bedroom. It has become our family retreat, from relaxing and tranquil afternoons drinking on the deck watching the ocean, to spirited card/board game playing at the dinning roon table, and finishing with a big family dinner recounting the events of the day. This wonderful setting provides a spacious comfortable environment for the best of family vacations. As a parent of college age boys I can say that it is the one vacation they look forward to every year as they have for the last fifteen years. On the Ocean and close to Golf, Shopping and Resteraunts it is a perfect family vacation setting, and a part of our life. Regards, MichaelRecommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+.
Owner response: As Michael mentioned , our house is a perfect retreat for families or family gatherings. Should you want to watch the wide-screen TV, play games, rock on the porch with a good book, or relax in the hammock, there is plenty of room for everyone. Of course, don't forget the short walk to the beach right out the front door where you can walk, swim, and lay or play in the sun.

this house is perfect for you if you love to get up in the morning and take a walk on a wide stretch of beach searching for sea shells and beach treasures...return to a rocking chair on the wide porch for breakfast...then, set up your chair and umbrella for a day of sunning and swimming in the ocean. The large house is reminiscent of when families spent six weeks every summer enjoying lazy days together. The house is located in the center of the residential area so that the beaches are less crowded than in other parts of Grand Strand. For the more active in your group, most of the attractions, restaurants and golf courses are just minutes away. The owners, two sisters who inherited the house from their grandparents, have created a true "home away from home" feel for their guests. The home is clean and mattresses, pillows, sofas, etc. are replaced on a regular basis. We have been enjoying this wonderful slice of beach heaven for almost 20 years.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, tourists without a car, girls getaway.
Owner response: Yes, we too, especially enjoy those long walks on the beach in the morning and late afternoon. We have even been know to walk to breakfast at one of our favorite spots quite often. And I usually claim my rocking chair on the porch as soon as I arrive!

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1962
About the owner: Hi, my name is Libby, and my sister, Nell, and I own this home which has been in our family for 50 years now. I am married for 31 years, have two children, and two dogs. I mostly do volunteer work these days... delivering Meals on Wheels, tutoring kids at a community center in my neighborhood, and working with senior citizens at the same center. I love my volunteer work - I get so much back than I could possibly give.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Golden Mile:
My sister and I grew up going to this house since we were knee-high. Our grandfather left it to us and we have been taking care of it ever since.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I particularly love the porch with the rocking chairs. I take a book and enjoy reading and watching the ocean and the people. It is so peaceful and calming there.
Since we prefer not to cook too much while we are there (although we do have all of the equipment, etc.), we have our favorite restaurants where we like to go. We thought you might like to have some ideas as to where to go, so we put together a book with menus from some of our favorites. This is located on a shelf by the dining table.
