Located at 11525 Chapin Lane, a three-story home nestled within Captiva's lush vegetation, Bird of Paradise makes you feel secluded within your vacation oasis, yet it's within just a short stroll to Village Center where you'll find quaint shops, fresh produce, art galleries, restaurants and activities for all ages.
The home's main living level is on the second floor and features all the warmth, comforts and conveniences of home. My family and I traveled from Germany for our tradition of holiday on the island. We have stayed in 6 different Captiva homes and the Bird of Paradise is by far our favorite. The huge pool with bubbler was a big added plus. Quiet street, short walk to town and water. We are booking again for next year. It was lovely meeting the owners, Michele and Dan as well. You won't be disappointed, "Bird of Paradise" is just as wonderful as advertised. My family has spent several summers on the island and our favorite rental home is the bird of paradise. It has all the comfort of home, but it is truly a vacation get-away from our busy day to day lifestyle. The home is quiet, clean and has everything my family needs to enjoy ourselves. It is a short walk to the beach and to the excellent island shops and restaraunts. The pool is our favorite after we have spent time on the beautiful beach and hunting shells. Everything about this house and its setting turned out to be even more pleasant that we could have anticipated. The house is spacious and lends itself to be occupied not just by a family but also by a number of couples. At the house, the pool and porches and other outdoor amenities offer hours of fun and diversion. Away from the house, it is an easy walk to the beach, several oustanding restaurants, grocery store, and more. One can enjoy activity or leisure in whatever proportions one chooses. I was amazed when I first saw this property. It is as beautiful as the pictures. It is spacious, private, clean and has a wonderful feel. It is truly as comfortable as being in your own home. Every amenity is provided, including beach chairs, toys, etc. With just a short walk to the beach and the town, you can walk wherever you want to go. If you just want to lounge around the home, you couldn't be more comfortable - take a swim in the private pool, watch a movie, play on the computer. You can tell that the owner really cares about the comfort and enjoyment of the guests. With all of the rooms and sleeping arrangements, you could easily accommodate more than one family. We walked along the beach every day, took walks through the beautiful town, ate dinner at the Mucky Duck, got groceries at the local grocer - who was very accommodating, listened to music, etc. I certainly did not want to go home when the week was over. I would recommend this property to anyone and will take advantage of every opportunity to go back!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Our stay at this home was truly special. The home is beautifully decorated and very spacious with so many pretty views from the various balconies. It's definitely updated and first class. As a bonus, the property is located just down the street from the beach, definitely within walking distance. This oasis has quickly become my families' favorite home away from home. My 3-yr-old daughter lovingly refers to it as "the yellow beach house" and as soon as we leave asks when we are going back! Beautiful and comfortable all around! We love being spoiled by the plush bedding, gigantic pool and easy walks to the beach, dinner and ice cream treats! This home is absolutely the most perfect beach getaway! The decor is beautiful, comfortable, and everything that you could possibly need is included in this lovely home. The beach is a very short but lovely walk away from the front door. Captiva Island has so much to offer, such as fishing, great beaches, and wonderful restaurants. My family and I have spent two summers in this house and it doesn't get any better than this! Everything is in excellent condition and is meticulously clean. Our family has a pool at our own home and I know how well this pool is maintained. The heater and cleaning system work perfectly. Your kids and grandchildren will never want to leave the house! It is very clear after you stay here that the owners really care about their guests.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, tourists without a car, families with young children, girls getaway.
