Eldorado Springs cottage description
Originally a historic summer cabin built in the 1930s, 'Riverhouse' is a charming cottage that's been updated over the years, but still reflects the funky charm of the area. Today Eldorado Springs is best known for its world-class rock climbing, its artesian spring-fed swimming pool and its eclectic residents.
Riverhouse is walking distance to Eldorado Canyon State Park (see link below). Climbing opportunities abound, as do leisurely strolls through the park and adjacent Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks trails. The Eldorado Springs Artesian Pool is open Memorial Day through Labor Day. It's a refreshing swim under the sun-baked canyon walls--what a view as you lie on your back in the cool water!
Riverhouse is off the main road into the park, nestled in a shady nook along South Boulder Creek (fun trout fishing!) Homes are close to one another in this historic neighborhood, but plenty of space abounds outside.
It's a short drive into Boulder where you can enjoy all the amenities of this great outdoorsy town, including fabulous coffee shops and everything from casual to fine dining. Note there are no restaurants in Eldorado Springs--a perfect excuse to nestle into the kitchen with it's 5-burner gas range and outdoor eating area. Riverhouse is a wonderful retreat for the contemplative traveler, a great 'base camp' for outdoorsy types, and is close enough to Boulder to provide quaint accommodations for business travelers needing to get into Boulder or Denver during their stay.
Riverhouse is perfect for a couple looking for a romantic getaway--you will enjoy the master bedroom upstairs with it's snug balcony overlooking the river and the gas fireplace to warm the space on cool evenings. The open wood floor is perfect for one or two-person yoga or meditation in the quiet mornings. The small main floor bedroom can accommodate children or another couple (one double bed and one single bed).
We have lots of maps of the area so you will have the 'insiders scoop' on where to hike and what to do during your stay. Finally, Riverhouse is our home; you will find many personal touches and attention to detail here. In some ways it is still a rustic place--which suits us well--living spaces are on the small side, the kitchen is without dishwasher or disposal, bathrooms are downstairs and functional.... We hope Riverhouse is a place where you can slow down, relax and become inspired...

My husband and I were looking for a special place to celebrate his 50th birthday. The riverhouse was the perfect place! The actual home is beautiful, cozy, and peaceful. We loved leaving the bedroom and back door open so we could hear the relaxing sounds of the river. The hammock was a great place to read and dream. We love having the option to cook ourselves or go out. The kitchen is more than well equipped. Yet just a few minutes down the road there's a great local restaurant and cafe. Going into Boulder is also quick and easy, offering a variety of activities. We stayed close to "home", walking, hiking, and exploring. Overall the home exceeded our hopes and provided an amazing getaway.

Four of us recently stayed at the River House and absolutely loved it. It was spacious and clean with an adorable backyard. We loved the deck, hammock, and creek in the back. The surrounding area is great-with Eldorado Canyon State Park just down the road and Boulder 10 minutes away. The owner was very kind and accommodating, and if we are ever in the area again we will definitely be staying at the River House.

Owner response: It was wonderful to have you at River House and we always appreciate it when guests take such nice care of our beloved retreat. It is an easy place to enjoy with all the amenities you describe. My family continues to put love and care into River House so that our guests fall in love and in turn take good care of it. So far it has been a prescription that has worked well for everyone, and we've enjoyed every visitor we've had. Our goal is for visitors to relax, enjoy the natural beauty and return home refreshed and maybe even a little inspired. We look forward to hosting you again if the opportunity arises! Best wishes, Clare
A charming, well-equiped home right next to the rushing river ... the sound of the water is mesmerizing. Despite the small lot, this cottage has a very private feel. The historic pool is a short walk up the dirt road, and there are multiple hiking trails which can be reached without moving the car! All in all a delightful getaway, yet close to civilization and shopping.

About the owner: We are a Colorado family who enjoy the mountainous beauty of our home state. We also love to travel. It is nice to reciprocate hospitality, offering a tranquil and inspiring place for others to enjoy on their travels. We look forward to hearing from you!
Why the Owner Chose Eldorado Springs:
'Riverhouse' started out as Clare's home before getting married. Clare's husband fell in love with Riverhouse (and Clare fell in love with her husband's 'Mountain House') and now we enjoy both places. It's especially meaningful if we can share the beauty with others...
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
I call the upstairs bedroom the 'Tree Fort' in the spring and summer. Early in the season we have fruit trees in blossom, followed by shady cottonwoods along the river. All summer the house and yard are sheltered by the shady trees, with the birds chirping away. Weather is so pleasant in this Colorado Canyon that you'll be comfortable with the windows open, breezes coming off the river, no need for air conditioning. The river-level deck and yard are perfect for outdoor dinners (followed by outdoor breakfasts) three seasons of the year. Park your car and simply go by foot for a day or for a week...
