I rented this beautiful cottage/house for a girlfriend's 50th Birthday celebration. I chose Prince Edward County because of the location as we had 2 people coming from Quebec and 2 from Toronto area. I haven't been in the county for many years and i was so pleasantly surprised. The wineries are plentiful! When we pulled up to the house, we were quite excited, i was nervous because I was the one who chose it based on reviews online and the feel of the pictures and my conversations with the owner via email. I went with my gut that told me it was going to be wonderful. It was so magical being there. The house is better equipment than my own house and i can't think of anything we needed that wasn't provided! It was spotless, the grounds beautiful and every room was well put together. Loved the 3 bathrooms too, something that is so nice with so many 50 year old women! I would rent this place again in an instant, it was relaxing, fun, and felt very peaceful to all of us. I will also recommend it to any of my friends/coworkers! We used a local spa in Bloomfield called Nightingales and they sent us 2 esteticians - the massage therapist set up in the dining room in front of the window and the facials were done in the living room in front of the window. So very relaxing and was perfect because we could close off each room for peace while one of us were getting our treatments. One of my friends is also a massage therapist and another is a chiropractor. All of us have had these treatments before elsewhere, but this was the best we had ever had. After the spa treatments we went outside for a yoga class on your lawn. It was so beautiful, the waves, geese flying above and the beautiful weather made it magic. The owner has obvious great taste in decorating and hosting guests by making sure everything was available. We will be back for sure as soon as we can!

Fabulous Country Estate - Charming, Private and Relaxing
Fabulous Country Estate - Charming, Private and Relaxing
My husband and I spent a week at this beautiful country estate. The house is very warm and welcoming with a combination of lovely antiques, modern amenities, and large and comfortable rooms. This large private property overlooks beautiful Lake Ontario and is very close to fabulous restaurants, wineries and galleries. Every evening, after we returned from our daily excursions, we looked forward to returning "home" and to sit by the lake to chat and read. This place has all to offer for couples who want a romantic getaway, for large families who want to have a fabulous and memorable vacation or for friends who want to explore, wine/dine and LOL! Thanks to Poppy for letting us stay at her lovely country place, As others noted, she is a gracious, caring and lovely person who is readily accessible if required, albeit unnecessary for us, as all was perfect. We will certainly return!

We love the Morganshire Glen
We love the Morganshire Glen
My wife & I have been renting vacation properties in The County for years. This year our favourite cottage was sold & we thought we’d never find a spot like it near Wellington. Morganshire Glen certainly filled the void. The house is secluded & private on a large property away from the road & neighbours. The beautiful house is clean, spacious & very charming. Large rooms, beautiful furniture, renovated bathrooms & kitchen. All absolutely lovely. The kitchen is sunny & bright, with stainless steel appliances, tons of counter space & a gorgeous view of the lake. You can see the lake from almost every room in the house. The master bedroom is so romantic – you can lie in bed with the gas fireplace on & watch the waves rolling on the big lake – Wow! The dining room has the same fantastic view. So does the large living room with the beautiful wood beam ceiling & spectacular stone fireplace. It was spring so we saw sunny days but also rain & gale force winds. So we spent lots of time snuggled on the couch in front of a blazing fire while looking out at the crashing waves. Good thing I brought my maul axe, essential for splitting the wood in the garage & the wood we bought at a farm near Hagerman’s. It was spring so the backyard was like a bird sanctuary with many species of birds visiting the two feeders. Swallows were nesting in bird houses around the property, even trying to build a nest in the chimney on the balcony outside the master bedroom....check before lighting. The bunkie is really sweet – the perfect spot to sleep on a hot summer night, perched on the edge of the lake. We loved the charming deck also perched on the edge of the shore looking out at the endless horizon of Lake Ontario. The perfect spot for a bottle of champagne to toast The County & Morganshire Glen. The house is close to great secret beaches, even one with an old shipwreck. The Hillier beaches are fantastic for beach combing, fossils & treasures to be found on every hike. We love packing a picnic lunch & walking for miles. We like to Geocache which has brought us to places in The County we would have never gone. Check out caches Trout Scout & Wood Nymph found in The County at Geocaching.com. Thanks to Poppy, the owner, for letting us stay at her beautiful spot. She was easy to contact by email & was the perfect host. We hope to be back for more memories at the Morganshire Glen.

charming and beautiful
charming and beautiful
Just returned for a lovely weekend in Prince Edward County. I stayed here with 5 of my girl friends and we had a wonderful time. The property is awesome, beautiful views of the lake. Inside the house is charming and filled with tons of character. All of the beds were very comfy. We loved the updated bathrooms and kitchen. This is not your average cottage! Our only suggestion would be more living room furniture. We booked a wine tour in the afternoon and had a great time visiting all the local wineries. Would definitely return.

Property Was Not Clean
Property Was Not Clean
We were a group of 10 visiting Prince Edward County September 7-9, 2012 for a weekend away. The house has 3 full bathrooms, the number of bedrooms we were looking for and within our price range. It was also on the water. We rented the house plus the bunkie near the water. The house was neat and tidy when we arrived but it wasn't clean. All the floors had dirt and debris and I saw cobwebs in the corners of the bathrooms. My husband and I stayed in the bunkie. The linens were not in good condition and I noticed rips in the top sheet. There was an extra blanket folded on a chair by the bed that I used. I opened it up and it noticed a large brown dried material on it and my husband said it looked like patching glue used to help seal the roof of the bunkie. After being out for a day, we returned to the bunkie and one of the windows had fallen out of its window casing and was hanging by one of the corners. We had to push the window back in place. Later that day, the property manager came by to do some work repairing the bunkie. I had booked this property many months before our vacation and found out a week before our stay that the property had changed owners. I did not find it easy to work with the new owner. We had booked the house and the bunkie and were never told where the key to the bunkie was. I had to call her when we arrived to find the key. When I booked the property, I mailed a damage deposit cheque. Through email, I was ensured that I would get the deposit cheque back in the mail a week after our stay after the property was checked over. I had to email her several times to send the deposit cheque back to me and I had to insist in this method that was previously agreed upon. I did finally get it back 1 month after our stay. I would not go back to this property and the biggest detractor would be its lack of cleanliness.

Owner response: I would like to thank the guests for their feedback. My intent is to always provide the best level of service and a memorable stay at the cottage. It is unfortunate that the feedback was provide 3 months later on Jan 1, 2013. I do have a caretaker that lives close by - as any house there are issues that do come up and as soon as there is an issue the care taker is there immediately to fix the problem - no different in this case. with the cleanliness - i do apologize since this is the first i have heard about this. I do have someone there after each visitor who cleans the house, washes all the linens, etc. After 15 or more visitors this is the first complaint i have had and will definitely check into this. The last point was around the deposit damage cheque. I bought the house June 1. the deposit cheque was made out to the previous owner and dated for the Friday/Saturday of the visit. the stay was for 2 days so i decided not to deposit the cheque. Sept 22 the visitor sent and email ref the deposit cheque. I responded immediately that i had not deposited the cheque and would she like it back. she then confirmed on Spet 23 that yes i had not deposited the cheque and would like it mailed back to her. I mailed the cheque to her Sept24. My misunderstanding and assumed that since i had not deposited the cheque and that the cheque was not in my name (it was a non-issue) however it was rectified immediately Again I would like to emphases that my intent is for the guests to enjoy their visit and the best compliment for me is when they come back for another holiday or they recommend the cottage to their friends and family. I welcome all feedback to ensure that i can provide the best possible stay for everyone. thanks
Great Honeymoon at Morganshire
Great Honeymoon at Morganshire
My husband and I booked Morganshire for our honeymoon. Firstly, I have to say how easy it was to deal with the owner (Poppy). She answered all our emails quickly and was a pleasure to deal with. We arrived at the house on a Sunday night and instantly fell in love with it. It was absolutely charming with exposed beam ceilings in the living room, a gorgeous wood-burning fireplace, and a great view of the ocean. We went to the kitchen and found a wedding gift from Poppy - two great bottles of wine from a nearby winery (about a two-minute walk away). The house had absolutely everything we needed - sheets, towels, toiletries, coffee maker, tons of books, visitor information. It is fully stocked, which is a nice surprise, since we are used to renting houses and having to bring along half our linen closet. It is also well-located. It is a short drive to a ton of great wineries, restaurants, galleries, and boutiques. Some of them had odd hours or were closed since we arrived in the low season, so we will definitely be back in the summer to experience high season at Morganshire and Prince Edward County.

The property is stunning! The listing is 100% accurate. Every amenity you could possible think of, and more. The property was very clean and well maintained and Poppy was always quick to respond to any questions we had leading up to the rental dates and, even when we got turned around driving up! My husband and I we went up in the fall for a weekend with our 2 young children and 4 other adults. We've stayed in Prince Edward County a few times and this location was by far the best for things to see and do. Lots of great wineries within 15 minute driving distance and even a couple in walking distance. Two great restaurants in Wellington - East and Main and Pomodoro. We will definitely be looking to visit this property again in the summer.

Ample space at this rental for the whole family. Fairly accessible for seniors with limited mobility. A very well equipped home -- with good quality kitchenware, lots of linens, and many of the day-to-day basics supplied -- reducing the amount of stuff the renter has to pack. The home was clean and fresh when we arrived. Poppy was very responsive with the minor issues that came up and having Chris a few doors down looking after the property meant we had immediate response when something did arise. The area is beautiful with so much to see and do. And somehow we got the perfect week of weather which made everything even more enjoyable. We enjoyed our walks along the North Shore Beach (at the end of the road) which seems to be a locally guarded secret. I highly recommend this vacation rental.

About the owner: I am a IT Program Manager who loves nature and loves living in the country. I am an avid hiker, soccer and ball hockey player. I am a patron of the arts and attend the many concerts, theater, TIFF and films that take place in the area and beyond. Having lived in many countries and currently work in Toronto Ont. I have two children - my daughter is in medical school in England and son is in high school in Toronto. Both love coming here for holidays.
Why the Owner Chose Wellington:
I bought this place because it is only 2 hours from Toronto by car or train and for me the best life of all is living in the country with easy access to the city. What was most appealing about this particular area is that although it is largely rural, it is surprisingly sophisticated with very fine restaurants, a vibrant art, music and literary community all within minutes of my house. Being an avid outdoorsman, my house is located in the country right on Lake Ontario but is very private. When I am standing in front of the house looking at the lake I don't see any other houses or signs of civilization. In three minutes, I can be at a beach at the end of my road where I can walk for a mile and not see another human being .
The Unique Benefits at this House:
My property faces south so the house gets great light streaming in from the many large windows. Also, the beachfront is a limestone shelf that gradually extends out into the water so you can wade out into the water about 100' before it's over your head. Swimming is great. No sand, no rocks, no moss, no vegetation of any kind in the water. And no people walking along the shoreline. It's very private. People who own property along the shore keep to themselves and there is no public access anywhere nearby. Also, there is great fishing for bass, pickerel, pike, and sunfish just a few minutes away. My favourite thing in the morning is taking my dogs for a long walk along the beach or riding my bike into town (5 K) and having breakfast at the Tall Poppy where they have extraordinary coffee from Costa Rica, Ethiopia, you name it. In the same little town these are two very fine restaurants, a grocery, LCBO, drug store, antique shops, art galleries, boat rentals, tennis courts, golf course, and a public beach--all just a 3 minute drive from my house. So, even though I live in the country, the little community of Wellington has just about everything I need. Also, when I want to sample some wine, there are 8 vineyards within 5 minutes of the house, When I'm feeling more adventurous, Sandbanks is only 15 minutes further and so is Picton--a quaint town of 5,000 that has lots of cool shops, restaurants, galleries, a movie theatre, bars with music--all within walking distance of each other.
