The house is on four levels:

Ground floor - entrance, small room with half bath, storage area with a washing machine and stairs leading to the cave (old wine cellar)

Second level - large kitchen and dining area, large living room with sofa bed.

Third level - two large bedrooms, each with full bathroom. One bedroom has two single beds and the other a queen.

Top level - one bedroom with two single beds and full bathroom. Landing with wet bar and fridge leading onto the roof terrace. Most of our guests dine on the terrace in the evening, looking out at the surrounding mountains and watching the swallows and swifts catching their evening meal. During the day, the terrace is a good place to read or catch some sun.

Linens are available in the master bedroom closet and in the wardrobe of the small ground floor room. Blankets are in the petrin (chest) located in the living room. On departure strip beds and place used linens in the small bedroom on the ground floor. The house will be cleaned after you depart. We will notify you of any long distance and international telephone charges when we are billed.

Parking - there is no parking space at the house because the streets in the ville ancienne are very narrow. You can take your car down the rue de la Liberte to load and unload but remember that you will be driving through narrow spaces (we usually fold in the mirrors). Public parking is available within a very short distance (50 yards) on the Place J. Buffaven free and the Place des Arcades, where there is a rather complicated ticket system. There is also parking on the nearby Promenade de la Digue along the river between the Pont Neuf and Pont Roman. You must use the latter on Thursday market day, parking on the previous evening. Also do not use the Place des Arcades parking on Saturday night as in the summer there is a market on Sunday.

We had a great week in Nyons and the accommodations were very good. The location in the old town was in the middle of everything. The roof top patio was a great place for afternoon wine & cheese. We used the house as a base for exploring southern France. After shopping at the local market, we cooked at home a couple times and also enjoyed eating out in the neighborhood. We highly recommend this property and location.

This property was absolutely perfect for the six of us, four adults and two children representing three generations. Having a private bath with each bedroom was a definite plus and allowed us privacy. When we wanted to be together, the two large rooms (kitchen and living room) on the first floor were very pleasant, spacious, and comfortable. The view from the rooftop terrace is extraordinary, and we took advantage of it every day. Actually, the photos don't do justice to the house. Usually, it is the other way around, but this house is really more attractive in real life than in the photos. As to the location, Nyons has a great climate for tourism as it hardly ever rains. The weather is just right for growing lavender and olive trees, and it was delightful to wake up every day to a bright blue sky. There are shutters to keep out the heat, if necessary, but we used them only one time during the week we spent there. The house is well-located when it comes to food shops, and the market days are a real treat. We also had fun exploring the winding streets and stairs that lead to the highest point of the town. Our grandchildren loved swimming and sunning at the aquatic center in Nyons but also enjoyed visiting Roman ruins at Vaison-la-Romaine and Orange. Mount Ventoux was also a big hit. A car is a must to really appreciate the area. Just writing this makes me want to go back to Nyons, and I am sure that our first stay in this delightful property will not be our last.

We spent a week at this charming house in Nyons after a cruise along the Seine from Normandy to Paris. The bullet train to Avignon and a rental car were an easy means of transportation. The house and the town are wonderful....plenty of room for six people and wonderful restaurants and sights to see if you want to stay put and absorb the atmosphere of this part of France. We used the house as a jumping-off point for amazing exploratory day trips. The in-house guestbook provides a wealth of information and recommendations on things to do....rely on it if you don't like pre-planning everything. The weekly market is wonderful.....Explore the town on foot and don't miss the small memorial to the citizens of Nyons who were victims of the Holocaust. We had no problems using our high-school French....English speakers were abundant. We'll go back...........it exceeded our expectations in every way!

My wife, her brother and a friend and I most recently spent our second trip in Nyons. We are very active and travel the surrounding countryside riding bikes and rockclimbing. Nyons and the surrounding areas of Drome and the Haute Vaucluse contains some of the most beautiful countryside on Earth. Nyons has wonderful restaurants such as D'un Gout à l'Autre. The Sunday and (renowned) Thursday markets host some of the best local fresh foods and produce. The house is set near the centre ville which tends to be very quiet and cozy in the evenings and bursting with fun things to do and see by day. The house is very comfortable with a full kitchen and my favorite the roof top patio. My wife and I have traveled to Nyons twice and plan on returning in 2013. This area is simply magical.

We had an absolutely terrific experience staying at this townhouse. Even though its location within the town center could have been confusing and hard to find, it was so well explained and thought out that we had no difficulties whatsoever. We found the house clean and very welcoming, and very spacious for our family- in fact, we had MORE than enough room. I love to cook, and this is a fun kitchen to cook in. It's well stocked with dishes and necessary cooking utensils, and even has a nice little cache of cookbooks (two of which I promptly ordered for myself as soon as I got home!) It's especially nice on market day, which is nearly right outside your door, to bring home delicious things to cook and then enjoy at the cozy table... The bedrooms were comfortable and clean, as were the bathrooms, and there was also a nice terrace on the upper floor where you could eat or have a glass of wine. And, as an added touch, there is a terrific selection of books on shelves in the living room. The location couldn't be better: as mentioned above, you are literally around the corner from the weekly market, plus numerous restaurants, cafes, and bakeries. And for day trips, it can't be beat because of the city's central location. It was a perfect place for us and our two children, and I highly recommend it.

We enjoyed this house, which has been modernized enough to be completely comfortable, but is also old, historic and charming. In our two weeks in Nyons in the spring of 2011 we spent several days hiking in the Dentelles de Montmorain, we visited lots of wineries, and we shopped in the outdoor markets. Some days we cooked at home (very functional kitchen) and we enjoyed eating in several of the local restaurants that are within a five minute walk. Every morning we had croissants from a very nearby bakery. This is a very French part of France - in late May we heard virtually no English spoken. We enjoyed Nyons - we walked all around the town and the countryside around it.

This is one our favorite places in the world. We have stayed here three times and will no doubt stay there again. We have also recommended it to friends who have all had great stays. The house is large and well appointed, with three large bedrooms and three large bathrooms. Located in the historic district, it is but a short walk to fine restaurants in all price ranges, great bakeries, and a lovely water park that is always favorite with the kids. There is a roof terrace that features a great view of the surrounding olive and vine covered hills. Weekly markets mean there is a great supply of fresh food to cook in the large kitchen, and the local cooperative features a very drinkable cote du rhone at an unbelievably low price. The owners are helpful and kind and the property is always clean and well maintained.

We rented the home in the old section of town that was very central to everything. The house was perfect, lots of room everywhere, kitchen, bedrooms, living room. It was well maintained with everything we needed in kitchen ans elsewhere. The owners were very pleasant to rent from and their secretary was easy to reach. Nyons is the right size, not too large, not too small. It would be a good place for older children, say from 11 on to roam around in by themselves. Our boys were too small, 7 and 4. The market is just a few steps away. The vegetable and fruit markets are extraordinary, absolutely packed with fresh fruits and vegies. I could hardly tear myself away, I was so tempted to buy more than we needed. We cooked every day we were in town. The public swimming pool is very luxurious, lots of sections for different ages. We swam there several times. It was easy to take the bus to Orange and Vaison La Romaine. We rented a car the second week, but didn't really need it the first week. I had to go to the local doctor because I had forgotten some pills. The doctor spoke English and even though I do speak some French, I wanted to be sure I was getting the right pills and I did, just exactly the same as in the U.S. I would certainly recommend this property. I couldn't have been nicer and we enjoyed staying there very much. I couldn't enter the arrival dates on the Date of Arrival above as we were one month beyond a year, July 1. 2011 through July 15, 2011.
