Amazing getaway with GREAT owners - HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Guest: AmberO (Salem)
Date of Stay: 10/14/11 Review Submitted: 10/26/11

The photos on the website don't do this rental justice...the owners have put an infinite amount of time and care and money into refurbishing and decorating the place. There are lots of one-of-a-kind antique touches to marvel at...whether it's the horse-drawn sled nestled in the rafters, the vintage tin advertising signs or the chandelier made out of an old thresher, you won't run out of things to marvel at...think Pottery Barn meets the Smithsonian. The place was VERY clean and very comfy - TempurPedic mattress, nice linens, fresh flowers (!), and even a guest bath robe. The property is also gorgeous, and if the weather had been warmer, we would have loved to have taken advantage of the cute little cabin and the fire pit. The owners couldn't have been nicer....very responsive, and charming to correspond with...I got the feeling that they were genuinely excited for us to have this weekend away in their special place. The *one* down side is that Cheshire is an itty-bitty place that doesn't have a lot of restaurants or shopping, but it is centrally located in the Berkshires, and more than makes up for it in access to the Berkshires' natural wonders. Overall, this is a great rental for either couples or a family, and the fact that they allow well-behaved dogs is a BIG bonus. Try this place - I promise you won't be disappointed! Family getaway

Guest: pauric (stow)
Date of Stay: 09/16/11 Review Submitted: 09/22/11

I had family visiting from Ireland so we took everyone out to Cheshire for a vacation within a vacation. It's perfect for a large family. The "semi-private" beds are just that. One is off the kitchen and the other is off the main living space, both separated off with antique railing. So, all changing/dressing is done in the single bathroom of the main bedroom. The beds are extremely comfortable. The only downside was that when it got chilly at night and we needed to use the heaters, they were kind of noisy when they cycled on. With that said, the bedding provided was more than ample, we only needed the heaters to take the chill out of the large space in the evening and morning. The barn itself is beautiful, tastefully decorated and a joy to hang out and relax in. There's lots of walking to do locally. One day we drove up Mt Greylock and half our group hiked down the AT and the others biked down some amazing routes. Both groups arriving to the backdoor and hungry for a bbq. We're definitely going back. A very unique experience. Just make sure everyone is comfortable in each other's company - it's not a hotel with individual en-suite bathrooms for everyone.

Excellent Weekend Stay

Guest: Ben (Albany, NY)
Date of Stay: 07/15/11 Review Submitted: 09/21/11

Four friends and I stayed a weekend at the barn home this past July. It is a beautiful, interesting, unique, well-appointed house on a lovely piece of property. The deck and grill out front made dinners easy and pleasant. The sleeping arrangements were more than sufficient and we loved the gourmet kitchen and open concept. The owners were very pleasant to deal with and made our stay there quite comfortable. Everything was clean and well-maintained. No complaints!

Comfortable & flexible getaway

Guest: MN (Brooklyn, NY)
Date of Stay: 08/12/11 Review Submitted: 09/11/11

We started our week at Mason Hill with a family get-together on the first weekend to celebrate my mother's birthday. The whole group loved the atmosphere of the barn, which is wonderfully renovated. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was great. It took a little bit of work to make the sleeping configurations work for 7 adults and 2 kids, but we made it work. My wife and I then had the place to ourselves for the remainder of the week and had a great time. Although there isn't a great deal of privacy, the property is quiet and beautiful, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We highly recommend Mason Hill.

What a wonderful find! Everything about Mason Hill is perfect! It gorgeously renovated, perfectly located, amazingly decorated and so comfortable for this family of 5 and small dog! We will surely be back. As soon as we walked in, it was high fives for the MaMa (me!) for finding such a great place. by the end of the week, I was still a hero!

Wonderful location in charming barn

Guest: SB (Brooklyn, NY)
Date of Stay: 08/05/11 Review Submitted: 08/08/11

A group of old friends got together here this past weekend and we had a wonderful time. There isn't a ton of privacy but we weren't going for that reason. It's nice big deck [bring bug spray - a lot!] was a nice place to catch up with everyone. The open barn itself is very well done with some fun antiques to look at. The kitchen was awesome - though I wish the place had a dishwasher, as dishes for 8 added up. All in all, it was the right price for what we needed. Thanks Mason Hill!
