Fabulous Oceanfront duplex designed with every need imaginable. (607 W. Main) The owners have meticulously planned the home with your vacation in mind.
From the first moment you open the door you are entralled with the many features of this special home. And then the ocean comes into view, and you know this was the right choice. Turn back to the kitchen (complete with all the necessary tools for a gourmet dinner) you see the beautiful bucket and card welcoming you with snacks and other goodies. Why go out for dinner when you will enjoy entertaining the family in this open and inviting area. Dinner will be special sitting on the screened porch and watching the sun set or the people walking on the beach.
The living room has a fireplace for those cool spring or fall evenings. And there is enough space for everyone to be comfortable when together. But if quiet is desired, there are numerous places to be alone to curl up with a book and read, or just meditate. There is a large screen TV and surround sound; and for those who need to be in contact with the world, high speed internet is included.
Each of the 4 bedrooms is unique, with private baths, and enough room to sleep 10. The master, on the top floor, is an oasis in to itself, with a large walk in shower, and a private deck to view the ocean in the moonlight, or the sun rise with your morning coffee.
There are 2 additional bedrooms on the top floor, with the front bedroom having a private balcony also, and has a daybed and trundle. The middle bedroom has 2 twin beds. The 4th bedroom is on the main level, and it also has a private balcony.
You can pack light since there is a laundry included in this home for your convenience. And don't forget the linens are also included.
If you enjoy fishing, there is a sink outside to clean your catch, and a shower to wash off the beach sand. The grill is available for you to prepare a special fresh fish dinner.
And when you want to spend the day on the beach, the access walk is next to the property for easy beach access. It is a nice walk to Bird Island, a NC State preserve.
If you decide to leave the Island and explore, there are many places to see within a few miles. The Planetarium is less than 4 miles away, and the Museum is only 10 miles. For power shopping Myrtle Beach is just 30 minutes to the south, or historic Wilmington is less than an hour north.
If you want to bring you extended family this home is perfect, as you can rent both sides and open up the double doors in the living area. This way you can all be together when you wish, but still have some private time by just closing the doors.
If you want to bike on the beach, there are bike rentals just a few blocks away.

I have spent a glorious week with my family and my sister's family. Renting the entire house worked out beautifully for everyone. The large double doors allowed both families to share meals while also allowing enough space to get away when needed. The views of the ocean are visible from living rm and kitchen as well as most bedrooms. The beds are very comfortable and the place was immaculate and well designed with pretty fabrics and paintings. You truly felt like a guest in a friends' house! We enjoyed cooking our own meals since the kitchen was so well appointed and the freshest seafood market was right over the bridge. Why go anywhere else when dining on the screened porch was better than any resturant could offer! We loved riding bikes on the beach early in the morning and long walks after dinner watching the sunset! Perfect place for families to reconnect as well as a great place for girlfriends reunions.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

I grew up at Sunset Beach, and I had the most wonderful experience coming back "home." Of course, my stay at Short Sail East was a huge improvement from our old house back in the day! Short Sail is extremely well-appointed with all the little extras that make vacations so nice. The owners are super. I enjoyed meeting one of them, and she was very attentive and kind to us--she even replaced a mug which was broken. We certainly hope to be back "home" again next summer!!Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Wow! I'm not sure where to begin. I cannot say enough good things about this property. It is beautifully decorated and very well taken care of. Every thing has been thought of..everything from a fly swatter, salad spinner, to a cheese planer. One extremely unique feature is this property has an elevator if medically necessary. The outside decks and screened porches have fabulous views of the ocean and pier. The porches provide great views and breezes coming in off the ocean. The access to the beach is right outside your door and you can hear the waves crashing from the master bedroom. All the rooms are professionally decorated and each bedroom has a private bath. The master bath has a beautiful and roomy stand alone shower, a separate water closet, and jetted tub. There is plenty of room for multiple families or for entertaining. Coupled with renting the other side, you could host huge family get togethers without being too crowded. The appliances were new and even included a speed oven. There are two enclosed outdoor showers, beach chairs, a picnic table and grill for your use. There is also covered parking for your car. The property was spotless when we arrived. We were even met with a "welcome" basket that included a few snacks and drink mixes to "tide" you over for a quick trip to the water before making your way to the market. My family owns a house on the Mainland at Sunset Beach but chose to rent this property to be on the water. I don't know the owners of this property but I can tell you that they have spent a lot of time and money making this property a fabulous place to stay. You will not regret your decision!Recommended for: People with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
