Located in Bat Cave, North Carolina, just thirty minutes from Asheville, The Camp has everything you need; including four homes with a combined sleeping capacity of up to 60 people, plus rustic bunkhouses that can sleep up to 10 more in the warm months, a huge social hall with free arcade games, a gymnasium with a full-sized basketball, an outdoor basketball court, tennis court, an athletic field, a heated pool (seasonal), an amusement-park worthy water slide and 2 fishing ponds .The Camp is a pet-friendly, full-fledged dream-come-true vacation rental for groups who want endless entertainment!
As your days at The Camp pass and you find that you've all but forgotten all about your 'To Do' list, replacing what seemed important just last week with a new list of relaxing activities. You're at ease everywhere at The Camp, though you've hardly been still since you arrived. You hiked a trail up Little Mount Pisgah, caught a fish in the pond, played Pacman in the arcade like you were a teenager again, and listened to ghost stories around a campfire. There's wireless internet available at The Camp, but the only time you took out your laptop was to email friends back home to say that you wish you could stay at The Camp forever. Tonight, you'll stroll the paved pathway at dusk as the romantic serenade of cicadas sing all around you, then make a quick visit to the exercise room before winding-down with an evening dip in the heated pool.
Whether you've come to The Camp for a family reunion, a corporate retreat, a wedding, or a church gathering, you're guaranteed to have the vacation of a lifetime. For nearly eight decades prior to its renovation, The Camp operated as Camp Mishemokwa where hundreds of children spent summers recreating and having all of those classic first-time-at-camp experiences. In 2005, the Blum family purchased the 150-acre property, spending countless dollars and tireless hours rebuilding, renovating, and giving The Camp a new lease on life as an exclusive vacation rental property.
4 Luxurious homes (and additional rustic camp bunk-houses in the warmer months) are available on 150 private acres, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
CLOUD 9, the home closest to the deck and poolside action, is an entertainer's delight, boasting a huge screened-in porch perfect for outdoor meals, two family rooms, both with oversized wrap-around leather couches, and a bar complete with a mini-fridge and a wide assortment of cocktail glasses. CLOUD 9 is an enormous space that also encompasses 5 bedrooms, 4 full bathrooms, and downstairs area perfect for the kids. The Owner's Suite, is an additional one bedroom / one bathroom separate rental that is part of CLOUD 9, has limited availability, and must be booked separately. It is magnificently-appointed with vaulted ceilings and high windows that let the light pour in, a private balcony, and an old-fashioned claw foot tub.
EAGLES NEST is the largest house on the property. It has 5 bedrooms, including a luxurious master suite with a private bathroom and stone decorative fireplace, a huge bunk room for the kids (with 3 bunk beds), 4 full baths, 2 family rooms (each with a queen sleeper sofa), huge granite and stainless kitchen with original wood flooring. EAGLES NEST is perfect for big groups as 22 people will sleep comfortably, and has handicapped-friendly access.
THE COTTAGE is located underneath Eagle's Nest and offers a smaller, one-bedroom space for guests who may need more privacy. It has a private handicapped-friendly entrance and a private covered porch. It has 1 bedroom and 1 full bath; perfect for a couple or up to family of 6. It has a granite and stainless kitchen. There is a king bed and a queen sleeper sofa in the oversized bedroom. The family room has another queen sleeper sofa with its own Plasma TV. THE COTTAGE is also perfect for pets, with wood floors and a level grassy yard just outside the door. THE COTTAGE is also available as a package rental with Eagle's Nest.
The newest home at The Camp, THE POND HOUSE, is aptly named because of its location next to the fishing pond. THE POND HOUSE is just right for a large family or a group of friends; accommodating up to 10 people, with 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. The open concept great room of the house gives it a community feeling; while the large deck invites you to relax in a rocking chair and enjoy panoramic views of The Camp and the mountains beyond.
A Once In A Lifetime Getaway! Adventure awaits everywhere at The Camp with plenty of chances for bonding and character building. Whether it’s a group hike to 'the bear cave', a baseball game on the playing field, basketball in the gymnasium, a tennis game on our brand new court, a jog along the paved path to take in the view of Little Mount Pisgah, an invigorating round of volleyball, or relaxing in a rocking chair; everyone in your group will find themselves entertained at The Camp. There's even an old fire truck to add to the jovial atmosphere.
The Camp is located near several of the best attractions that the North Carolina mountains have to offer. Bat Cave is four miles away and has a general store and post office. Five more scenic miles bring you to Lake Lure, where Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey practiced dance moves in the moonlit water in the hit 80's movie Dirty Dancing. There are several restaurants in the quaint town of Lake Lure, ranging in fare from old world Italian or German dining to casual tiki bar drinks. Just down the road from Lake Lure is Chimney Rock Park, a thousand-acre pet-friendly park whose main attractions are the 404-foot high Hickory Nut Falls and breathtaking Exclamation Point, which offers a stunning view of the gorge below. Nearby attractions also include gem mining and whitewater rafting.
Asheville, North Carolina, a popular destination for entertainment and fine dining, is a thirty-minute trip from The Camp. Asheville area attractions include the 1898 Biltmore Estate, the five-star spa at Grove Park Inn, historic trolley tours of downtown Asheville, and a visit to Beer City USA's many local breweries.
You'll find everything you ever dreamed possible from the absolute pinnacle vacation right on-site at The Camp, making even a day trip seem like too much time spent away from your own pleasure island. Food delivery is available from dozens of Asheville restaurants. Or perhaps you'll want to hire a chef to cook in the on-site commercial kitchen for your event.
