The newest home at The Camp, THE POND HOUSE, is aptly named because of its location next to the fishing pond. THE POND HOUSE is just right for a large family or a group of friends; accommodating up to ten people, with 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. The open concept great room of the house gives it a community feeling; while the large deck invites you to grill some steaks with the family or relax in a rocking chair and enjoy panoramic views of The Camp and the mountains beyond.
New adventures occur every day you spend at The Camp. Somehow, you found time between fishing sessions to take the dogs for a hike to 'the bear cave,' play goalie in a game of soccer, watch the kids climb on the fire truck, and build a bonfire. You even took a minute to take advantage of the wireless internet so you could brag to friends back home about the 'enormous fish' you caught this morning. Fishing will be out the window if it rains, but you'll survive thanks to the outfitted exercise room, satellite TV, and ping-pong, pool, and air hockey tables in the recreation hall. The restored gymnasium could potentially provide another day of entertainment with its basketball court and huge space for fun games like dodge ball with the family. In 2005, The Blum Family purchased the 150-acre property, spending countless dollars and tireless hours rebuilding and renovating, and have given The Camp a new lease on life as an exclusive rental property.
The Camp is located near several of the best attractions that the North Carolina mountains have to offer. Bat Cave is four miles away and has a general store and post office. Five more scenic miles bring you to Lake Lure, where Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey practiced dance moves in the moonlit water in the hit 80's movie Dirty Dancing. There are several restaurants in the quaint town of Lake Lure, ranging in fare from old world Italian or German dining to casual tiki bar drinks. Just down the road from Lake Lure is Chimney Rock Park, a thousand-acre pet-friendly park whose main attractions are the 404-foot high Hickory Nut Falls and breathtaking Exclamation Point, which offers a stunning view of the gorge below. Nearby attractions also include gem mining and whitewater rafting. Asheville, North Carolina, a popular destination for entertainment and fine dining, is a thirty-minute trip from The Camp.
