Nestled among the pines with views of magnificent Mount Shasta, this charming, modern chalet lets you relax and reflect on the serenity of the area while enjoying the comforts of home. Romantic luxury for 2... Yet spacious enough to sleep a large family. The unique combination of outstanding location, exceptional layout, and owner involvement makes The Chalet the perfect place for a mountain get-a-away. ( But if you MUST check e-mail, hi-speed cable internet access is provided.)
We, Jack and Terri, live in the Bay Area but go to Mount Shasta so often that we decided to buy the Chalet in 1999 for our own use and for guests. The Chalet is located three and a half miles from central Mount Shasta City, just north of the city limits in a quiet residential neighborhood, recessed from the street. There is plenty of distance (and trees!) between the neighbors. It is very peaceful and private. There is a wonderful view of the mountain from the deck, the dining area, and the upstairs loft area. You will find an outdoor table (with chairs and umbrella) on the deck during the warm weather months as well as an outdoor barbecue grill. And sleds in winter!
The large master bedroom suite (upstairs) has a queen bed, futon sleeper, walk-in closet, and full bath (with bathtub/shower). The loft outside the bedroom looks over the living area and offers a great reading spot, and is also perfect for viewing Mt. Shasta. The downstairs bedroom (queen bed) is on the main level with the living area and is nicely situated down a hallway allowing an escape to privacy. There is and another full bath (walk-in shower) near the bedroom. Additionally there is a reclining sofa in the living room where it is easy to fall asleep unintentionally (in front of TV and wood burning stove) where 1-2 people could sleep.
We pride ourselves on meeting the needs of our guests. All inquiries and reservations are handled directly by the owners (us!), not a property manager. Our goal is to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. We ENCOURAGE early arrivals and late departures whenever the guest schedule allows for it.
We are proud of our growing number of repeat guests, and we hope you enjoy The Chalet as much as we do. We are also dog-lovers, so you can bring ALL members of the family! The Chalet at Mount Shasta has an official Vacation Rental Permit granted by Siskiyou County.

Clear communication throughout, all via e-mail, to which Jack is quite attentive. Chalet is lovingly cared for by owners and their property manager, who was a gem; called one time to check in and left us alone. Chalet is lovingly stocked with (more than) basic essentials. - Kid Friendly : The layout of The Chalet is perfect for kids. Since the bedrooms are on two levels, parents can have privacy. With younger kids, the little ones can sleep on the sleeper sofa in the large upstairs master bedroom, close to parents (or older siblings).using the queen bed. We are eager to provide kid-friendly activities (e.g., hikes, restaurants).

Why the Owner Chose Mount Shasta
We found ourselves returning to Mt. Shasta so often that we decided to buy a house for our visits and one that would be welcoming and comfortable for guests. We love all seasons in Mt. Shasta, but winter is our favorite time there.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We looked at many other properties first but when we walked into The Chalet, we instantly knew this was what we were looking for: not in town but close, view of the mountain, quiet, and a house that was not too big but could comfortably accommodate a large family (or two smaller ones).

Welcome to The Chalet at Mount Shasta! Our family includes Jack and Terri, son Daniel (12) and animals of course (currently 2 dogs, 1 bird, goldfish and tropical fish). We live in the Bay Area but love Mt. Shasta, and we stay at The Chalet for 4-5 days about every few months. We are thrilled to have been able to share The Chalet with so many people since we bought it in 1999, and so much appreciate our ‘regular’ guests who have also made The Chalet their ‘home-away-from’ home. We had a wonderful time in this warm and comfy, fully-equipped house. There were toys for children, accomodations for the dog, two comfortable queen beds, many books and cd's. The living room was comfortable for 4 of us plus one child and one dog. Neighbors cleared the snow from the driveway every day and we got out for sledding, snow-shoeing and downhill skiing. We found everything we needed in the modern kitchen. TV reception was good, the Wi-Fi worked well. I can't think of anything else we might have wanted. This place was perfect! Oh, yes. It took some looking to find a map of the area (finally found one in the phone book) to locate the back road into town so we didn't have to use the freeway.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

We three loved our time at the Chalet. It made for a perfect holiday and birthday celebration. How sweet that you helped celebrate Jessica's birthday with the banner! Because your kitchen provided all the pots, pans, bowls, and appliances we needed, we ate out only once. And that was our first meal, dinner the night we arrived. We loved being out of town and so close to town. Also, we were delighted to discover that Shasta Abbey was around the corner, allowing us to walk over for a tour of the monastery. We loved seeing the mountain out the Chalet windows, and the fire through the stove's glass door. All in all, perfection. Many thanks for sharing your bounty with us. Happy Holidays.

Perfect vacation house for small family, group, or 2 couples. Owners are extremely conscientious & provide extensive information on local activities. We had a wonderful time! It was the perfect week with a lot of snow and sunshine. My husband and I are quite sun burnt. We couldn't put on enough sunblock. As you heard from the kids, they loved the chalet. We had to end the monopoly game before anyone won...as you know, sometimes there aren't enough hours to complete the game. Everything in the chalet worked great. I loved all the helpful hints on the walls. I hope you enjoy your week at Shasta just as much as we did ours! Thank you for sharing your vacation home!
