My husband and I and our two girls stayed here for a week and we absolutely loved it! The location was perfect, the yard beautiful and the beach breath taking!!! We ate on the lanai every chance we got and was on the beach swimming a lot. The views were so wonderful and the sunrise inspiring. The bed was so comfortable and the kitchen perfect. I loved all the lizards that would show up on the plants out by the lanai. This made our trip to Oahu exactly what you expect for an island vacation. Thank you for sharing your little retreat:)

This place is most excellent. It is ideally situated for BYU Hawaii, PCC etc. It is cozy and private with fascinating decorations. The cottage is fully equipped with a great view. Michael and Laina were wonderful hosts who leave you alone but check to be sure things are okay. A gazebo overlooks the beach which is perfect for reading and sheltered from the wind. We would gladly stay here again. Just a little bit of paradise! :)

Fun and comfortable cottage
Fun and comfortable cottage
We loved our stay in this fun cottage. Just steps to the most beautiful private beach on Oahu. Lelia and Michael helped us to feel right at home. We loved that it was so close to everything - grocery store, restaurants, Polynesian Cultrual Center, BYU Hawaii, the LDS Temple, beautiful beaches, and so much more. If you are an artist you will love this cottage with its many beautiful paintings and gorgeous antique furniture. Aloha and Mahalo!

We recently stayed at this very private property and we absolutely loved it. Micheal and Lelia were so friendly and helpful. We loved their backyard and the beach is wonderful. Clean sandy beach and beautiful water. Loved listening to the waves. The house was very charming, and the bed is very comfortable. We enjoyed cooking meals in their well stocked kitchen. The location is great, close to lots of great spots for snorkeling, really good places to eat local food, and quiet beaches. We had a wonderful time and we will definately be back.

One of a Kind Beach Cottage
One of a Kind Beach Cottage
Right on the beach... private... all to ourselves. Cute cottage with all the comforts of home. Whimsical, adventurous art all throughout the cottage and yard. And if you are lucky enough, you may be invited to the main house for the art tour. Michael (artist) and Lelia are wonderful hosts. I would definitely recommend this property to all. Mahalo Nui! Until we meet again....

Best Place to Recharge
Best Place to Recharge
If you're looking for the beauty of Hawai'i without all the touristy noise, look no further. This little house is like a home away from home. It was clean and lovely with all of the fun art that decorates the inside and outside of the home. The house is also situated so that there is a cool ocean breeze day and night which kept the place at a comfortable temp. If you're into yoga, the yard is perfect with a grassy lawn with Bodhisattvas and the calming sound of waves on the beach. Also, it's so nice to have a full kitchen to cook (or grill) our food and not rely on restaurants for every meal. Our hosts were absolutely charming and available whenever we needed them, without being intrusive. The beach here is absolutely perfect. Just see the pictures. There is a huge sand-bottom area which would be perfect for kids. There's also reed further out which made for some amazing snorkling. Tons of fish and turtles. We also saw Hawaiian Monk seals lying on the beach without a care in the world. Not kidding! None of the crowd like Waikiki. There was a maximum of maybe 4 other people on the entire stretch of beach at any given time. We had the best time and it was a much needed recharge from the hustle of Los Angeles. We're staying here whenever we are on the island. I can't thank the owners enough!!!

Surprise in Laie
Surprise in Laie
We were not sure of what we had gotten into when we first arrived. I guess we thought it was going to be castle on the beach. Boy, were we surprised; it's NOT the castle on the beach, it is NOT a glorious great house on the beach….it is a cozy beach cabin that we found absolutely amazing and wonderful. The two of us fell in love with the place after a few hours of taking in all the beauty and warmth of the place. Every morning at the beach watching the sunrise……going to bed each night listening to the surf. We wanted a peaceful quiet place and we found it. Nobody on the beach but us except one Sunday there was a family down a ways. We did not want to leave and we will be coming back. We didn’t want to do anything other than small little excursions and treat ourselves to the multiple shrimp shacks. There were days we didn’t go anywhere but just stayed, relaxed and enjoyed our privacy. I can’t recommend this place enough……fantastic hosts Michael and Leila. Thank you for our great stay.

Fantastic Vacation In Hawaii
Fantastic Vacation In Hawaii
We just returned from an amazing vacation in Oahu. One of the best things about our vacation was the beach house in Laie. It was so nice to be away from the hussle and bussle of Waikiki and Honolulu and we found our own little slice of paradise along the North Shore. We have stayed at many VRBO accomodations so when we decided to go to Oahu for our next vacation we had decided that this is the way we wanted to go. When we arrived at the property we were greeted by our gracious hosts Michael & Lelia Honn. We were given a small tour of the property and the accomodations. The accomodations were better than we had expected with all the rooms decked out in hand carved island furnishings and stained glass lighting. The owner is an artist and so there were original paintings a plenty for us to view much to our delight. The rental property has a flat screen TV outfitted with satellite TV as well as wireless internet, which is all you really need. The kitchen had all the items you could use and more. The accomodations were clean and well kept, you can tell there is a distinct pride of ownership at this property. This property has an amazing garden, just a few steps from our lania was the beach and our own little slice of heaven. The beach that boarders this property is not a private beach but most of the time it seemed as though it was, as there was so little traffic we felt as though we had it to ourselves for a large portion of our vacation. Our hosts Michael and Lelia were just great! They answered all the questions we had as well as let us in on some great places to visit while we were there. They were so helpful and kind and told us if there was anything missing from the beach house to let them know before we went out and bought anything that they could supply. This property has a great location. It is just across the highway from the Polynesian Cultural Center which holds daily activities, Luau's and evening shows. The grocery store is right down the street. There is even a McDonalds within walking distance for those nights when you just want to grab some take out and go watch a movie. We found that no matter what activity we were interested in doing we were within a half hour drive away from some of the greatest snorkeling on earth, great restaurants and Halewia the small north shore surfing town for shopping and food. We had a great time in Hawaii and we plan on returning in a couple of years and we will want to stay in our own little paradise in Laie!

The property is clean and every thing worked well! If you have a problem the owners live on site and are extremely accomdating and happy to help immediately with advice and service. The location is great for access to BYUH campus, PCC, and easy dirve to beautiful beaches. The biggest asset is the grassy yard and the beautiful beach right on the property. Great for morning walks and sunning. No one is ever on the beach and it is gentle surf ( in the summer). The interior is ecclectic with a fun personality and cool ocean breezes;and the queen bed is beautiful and very comfortable. I would stay there again and have recommended it to my other family members already.

Worth every penny and then some....
Worth every penny and then some....
This cottage had a beautiful secluded beach steps from the door. We started every morning and evening on the porch, then headed a few more steps to the gazeebo, then a few more steps onto the beach. It was a safe area: limited beachcombers, safe swimming area, and super close to the house. Lelia and Michael had chairs, lounges, and boogie boards to make the beach even more enjoyable. They were great hosts: I emailed an inquiry on 7-25 and they were able to accommodate us for 7-30, alerted us to the timing of the full moon, and suggested places to eat and shop. The Polynesioan Cultural Center, BYU, The Mormon Temple, my brother's house, the grocery store, and The Hukilau (from 50 first dates) we all within 10 minutes walking distance. In Hawaii, EVERYONE walks, skateboards, bikes, or takes the bus. Walking was fun, but the rented convertible was a hoot!. The cottage was really more of an artist's retreat: whimsical artwork; large antique masterbed; stained glasswork; vases and statues. We did use the air-conditioner in the masterbed room at night, but my daughter like the opened windows and sounds of the surf. We used the kitchen mostly for left overs (portion sizes are very large and we were trying to keep down expenses), fresh fruit (shop around b/c prices really vary) and coffee. The grocery store that is within walking distance is more expensive than Tumaras which is a short drive down the road. If you do shop at the one within walking distance there are two prices for most everything. To get the cheaper price, buy one or two things and sign up for their shopping card by giving them your phone number. The next time that you shop, you will get much cheaper prices. However, before you buy anything, check out what the cottage has. Guests leave items that can not travel: shampoo, creme rinse, sunburn cream, coffee filters, etc. To save costs: buy your friends stuff at the swap meet on Wednesdays and Saturdays at the Aloha Bowl or DonQuijotes in Honolulu. Kailua Beach Park is the best and super family friendly. However, I bought a few things there and then bought them cheaper at the swap meet....groan. The car rentals have books with coupons and a map--get two of them. For the best Hawaiian value you NEED to take the boat tour, meals, and swim with the dolphins: Hoku Nai'a via Boss Frogs from the car rental coupon book. I didn't snorkel- just used my mask and a boogy board because I'm not a strong swimmer. Fantastic experience.
