The coastline between the French border and Genua is called the " riviera dei fiori". ( Flower Riviera) . It has a temperate climate and was in the last century "discovered" by the English who spent their winters here to get away from the harsh climate north of the alps. In fact spring time starts in january/february when the yellow mimosa in blossom adorn hills and gardens.
Casa Alessandro is in a small village , Feglino, near Finale Ligure , the worldwide known "palestra" for rock climbing with stunning views over the mediterrenean sea. The house is a beautifully renovated medieval village house. It is said that it held the bakery. Tools and equipments of long forgotten times were found and are preserved in the house. The furniture is a delight of valuable family antiques and local furniture pieces, every little object has been chosen by us with care and love. Our main villa is at 8 mins walk and your are our guests in our swimmingpool in summer
The house is a two storey building and is a surprise of steps and stairs and doorways.
The main entrance is on the first floor, a flight of outer steps take you to the large terrace. On this floor are the living room, kitchen, two double bedrooms, bathroom with shower. The terrace is furbished with deckchairs and dining table.
On the other floor is a second living room with a cosy tavern with wood burning tile-stove for cool nights, one double bedroom, bathroom with bath, half bath. the house has central heating for the wintermonths.
Casa Alessandro is situated in a small village at 8 km or/ 20 mins by car from the sea side. The village is on higher grounds and dominates the area and as so may places on the Italian coastline has been inhabited ever so long being a safe spot against pirates coming from the sea. From the house you see green hills covered with forest and olive yards . Feglino is at approx one km from the autostrada exit, inland.
Finale Ligure, Spotorno and Noli are the nearest seaside resorts, with long sandy beaches, pleasure harbours, long stretches of deckchairs, safe swimming, a good breeze for windsurfing and sailing. The boulevard has lots of small gardens, playgrounds for children and cafe's and restaurants. Donot forget to stop at " Borgo Finale" on your way to the sea at 3 km from the sea side, which was the "original" Finale Ligure , a small village surrounded by town walls.
Finale Ligure inland is famous for its range of rocky mountains where para gliders and free climbers come from all over Europe for training and competition.
Daytrips to Genua( acquarium, monumental graveyard), old fishermen quarter), Ventimiglia ( Hanburys gardens), San Remo ( casinò), Portofino etc. Perfect is the autostrada ( highway) to reach long distance places like Cinque Terre, Tuscany, Rome and Naples, Turin, Milan, Venice.
Spend you holiday in Casa Alessandro, enjoy the climate, discover the inlands, visit the antique markets and museums, walk, hike or bike from your door step. Admire orchards with oranges and lemon trees and taste the local dishes like " trenette", " pesto", " focaccia" and the excellent local wines.
