Our Vineyard Retreat is an ideal romantic getaway. Our relaxing setting lets you truly unwind and have a unique wine country experience. Stay at one of the smallest producing wineries in Santa Barbara County. Our Los Olivos Vineyard Retreat welcomes you the moment you arrive. The open vistas of our CCOF certified organic vineyard spread out before you and provide a relaxing view.
Staying with us comes with it's perks! We also own a popular and well-respected restaurant and wine merchant in downtown Los Olivos. You will receive a $10 gift card to our restaurant and two complimentary tastings of all our wines at our wine merchant. That's not all. We encourage you to take a few moments to settle into your experience with a bottle of our estate wine and an artisan cheese plate that awaits your arrival. When our schedule permits we enjoy taking guests on a private tour of our vineyard, farmland, and winery.
The Vineyard Retreat has it's own private entrance off a wing of our home. There is one bedroom with a super comfortable king-sized bed with luxurious bedding. The bathroom has a tub/shower combo. For those traveling with their family the family room has a sofa bed that can sleep two children. The kitchen nook, family room, & kitchen are encompassed in the same space with beautiful views of the vineyard and mediterranean landscaping. There is a flat screen TV and two iPod stations. Free wireless internet access is available. The kitchen is fully stocked to prepare a wine country meal. Or for something really special, with enough advanced notice, we can have our chef prepare a customized romantic meal for you.
The 20+ tasting rooms, galleries, and restaurants, of our quaint little town, are a 10 minute walk (20 minute stroll) or a short bike ride away. We also offer complimentary cruisers. Although our kitchen is fully stocked for cooking, there is a little market down the street (5 minute stroll) that serves breakfast and cappuccino's, as well as, a deli.
The Santa Ynez Valley comprises the danish town of Solvang, the western themed town of Santa Ynez, Ballard, Buellton, and Los Olivos. Aside from tasting the many vintages of the Santa Barbara County wines the valley offers; biking, horseback riding (in fact, if you have a horse and want to bring them, we have room for two), hiking, fishing, live theatre, movie theatre, shopping, festivals, surfing and much more. Santa Barbara is a 40 minute drive and the beach is only 30 minutes.
If you only stay two nights, you'll wish you have stayed more!

Honestly, photos just don't do this cottage retreat justice. It was beautiful, serene, so comfortable and just perfectly maintained and equipped. There's space, privacy, warmth, a great bottle of wine and a terrific cheese plate, vineyards reaching out beyond the grass and places to roam on a beautiful stretch of private road so close to town you can walk or ride bikes. We loved waking up to coffee sitting on the patio or out in the yard. We loved Gypsy and Juliet (the dogs) and of course the kitty, and Sam and Shawnda (and Jonah) were the perfect hosts. Our first night we went to their Wine Merchant Cafe and had fantastic food served by incredibly nice staff. If anybody could possibly have a complaint about the cottage, they're crazy. Our only regret: we couldn't stay longer due to an emergency. They refunded our money immediately without hesitation. We cannot wait for the chance to come back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Reading your review gives us goose bumps of joy. Glad you enjoyed your stay even though it was cut short. We hope all is well with your family. Sincerely, Sam & Shawnda

My wife can attest that I am pretty critical when it comes to reviews. Yet, this romantic retreat gets a big 5 star rating. The proof is in the details. So, let's start with an absolutely charming living area, spacious, clean, tastefully decorated and full of all the amenities you need (ie., WiFi, IPod Dock stations, Kuerig Coffee Maker and much more). In the refrigerator, you 'll find a wonderful cheese appetizer plate that pairs wonderfully with the owner's Syrah (by the way, that's included too), crackers, and a few "extras" like a $10 gift card to the owner's restaurant, Los Olivos Wine Merchant & Cafe, and a coupon for complimentary tastings of his Bernat wines at the Cafe. There is a patio right at the entrance of your room and spacious lawn area to park yourself for a few hours and just enjoy the beautiful scenary of the grounds and surrounding landscape. Thank you Sam for a great three days at your estate. We look forward to our return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Glad you enjoyed all the extras. Thank you for spreading news of the goodies that are part your experience at the Vineyard Retreat. We hope you come back and visit us again soon. Sincerely, Sam & Shawnda

My wife and I have been to Los Olivos and Santa Inez Valley for wine tasting many times. We have stayed at several local hotels, rentals, etc. This little vineyard retreat was Great! It was quiet and relaxing. We met Sam, the owner, who was getting ready for the fall grape harvest from the local property. Had a nice chat with him. He was very friendly and courteous. The town of Los Olivos has one of our favorite local restaurants, The Los Olivos Cafe. It's just a few minutes away. Will definitely stay here again!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.
