Why the Owner Chose Buena Vista
In 1995, we visited this part of Colorado on a vacation and fell in love with the beauty of the area and the friendly people who live here. We bought a home and moved here the following year.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We love to go out for a hike around the ranch in the evening. The kids have used this as an opportunity to look for wildlife. In the summer, we'll pick wild raspberries or maybe the kids will spend some time fishing in the lakes. We've also done many, many hikes into the National Forest and up Mt. Harvard and Mt. Columbia. It's wonderful to be able to head out our back gate and be right in the National Forest.
Owner's Map of Buena Vista
My husband and I live on the Tomcat Ranch with our three children, 3 dogs, and more cats than we can count! We agree that it's been a beautiful place to raise a family and love the connection we feel to the mountains and the wildlife. We love watching the hummingbirds swarm the feeder in the summer. The kids have grown up fishing in the lakes. We've hiked all over the property and into the mountains. We've watched herds of elk roam the ranch in the winter, with their calves. We've admired the beauty of the mountains -- from the snow-covered peaks of winter to the wildflower-filled valleys of summer. This is a beautiful spot!

We just returned from a few days at the Tomcat Guest House. What a wonderful stay we had! The house has beautiful views all the way around... sunrise and sunset! The living area is spacious, the kitchen/dining area met our needs perfectly, and the bedrooms were great. We enjoyed hiking/snowshoeing around the property. And the hot springs were only a short drive away! Mike and Holly are friendly, helpful and very gracious. We are already planning our next trip to BV!

This was a great place to get away from it all with the conveniences of home. We were able to enjoy all of our kids and grandkids together. The kids and adults alike enjoyed the lakes (fishing and feeding the fish). The location was remote enough so we were not bothered by our cell phones but were close enough to obtain cell service if we needed to. The mountain views were great and we enjoyed the enclosed yard area with covered lounge area and the fire pit where we were able to have enjoyable bonfire with smores. This beautifully sited home provided a wonderfully relaxing vacation getaway that we will consider taking advantage of again in the future.

What a perfect place to enjoy the onset of autumn; relaxing, enjoying the views, exploring some amazing property, and ending each day with a great fire! We made our trip from Denver on October 14th for a quick trip. Mike and Holly were the most gracious hosts, going out of their way to make our stay more special. The resident pups, Ben and Sadie also welcomed us and bonded with us and our dogs immediately. The house was very comfortable and well-maintained, and we had everything we needed for our stay. The property is truly amazing... I'm so glad we found this gem that we can share with family and friends and visit often! The only negative was that our trip wasn't long enough. We can't wait for snowshoeing in the winter. Thanks Mike and Holly - J&T&L&L

A simple yet comfortable mountain retreat full of delights. It was more than a rental home, it was a private mountain playground. Your own lakes, fire pit, fishing access, canoeing, hiking, and the most amazing view from the dining room table to watch the sunset over the mountains. Not to mention the mining relic art that sets a playful western atmosphere. Good stuff!

Our family stayed for three weeks at the Tomcat Ranch guest house. Our hosts, Mike and Holly, have made this retreat something truly special. We had everything we needed for a perfect vacation and Mike kept us amply supplied with firewood. We have stayed many places over the years and the beauty and tranquility found here is unsurpassed. Mike and Holly were helpful but not intrusive. We definitely will be back again.

Wow! The Tomcat Ranch Guest House and surrounding 300 acres were simply an amazing retreat for our family. Peace and tranquility, privacy and respite are all in abundance here. We felt so welcome, and so engaged by the host family. We must have done something right to have found this wonderful treasure to call a home away from home for a few days.

Five of us wanted to visit the Buena Vista area for a quiet get-a-way and to ride the trails on ATV's. We found the Tomcat Ranch and thought it looked like it would fit our needs. We were pleasantly surprised with the accommodations. The view was fantastic and the privacy was perfect. We enjoyed exploring the ranch and the National forest which it adjoins. Bonnie and Mike were great hosts for our stay in the mountains. We would truly recommend this property to others.

Three of my adult children, my husband and I just returned from a stay at Tomcat Ranch. We really enjoyed our stay. As others have said, Holly and Mike are gracious hosts- looking out for us but not intrusive. The property was perfect for our family because we could easily access outdoor activities in an area that is not at all touristy.

We just returned from a week at Tomcat Ranch. This was our first summer trip to Colorado and we couldn't have picked a better place! Our family of six had a great time filled with hiking, biking, rafting and ATV riding. Holly and Mike were the best at giving us wonderful suggestions on things to do. Our next summer vacation in Colorado will include another stay at Tomcat Ranch guest house!
