Our family of four stayed here for 3 nights - the location is great ! The apartment is a bit old but felt cleanish. There was not one extra pillowcase or blanket. Our kids decided they didn't want to share a bed but they had to because there was no bedding and the pull out sofa was broken. When I called I was told that since there were 4 of us they didn't tell us about the couch and they don't leave extra bedding. Overall it was a great location and the people were very easy to work with but not sure I would stay here again.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Dear guest, I am sorry you didn't find the extra linen. It is located inside the chest of drawers by the porch next to the kitchen as I mentioned to you at the phone Saturday night. We didn't inform you that the sofa bed was broken by previous guests because your reservation was made for 4 guests. So we thought you didn't need it. Fortunately we had an extra twin size folding mattress that you could end up using if you would had found the linen. Extra bedding is always left at the house. Also we ask the guests to inform us if they need extra bedding. The sofa bed is now broken, it doesn't work anymore as a bed but is is a really comfortable sofa. The extra 5th guest can sleep on the twin size folding mattress. Regards,

Great apartment for a group of 5 (2 adults and 3 teens). Location perfect for walking to everything!! Kitchen was fully equipped and there's Safeway and Trader Joe's within a few minutes walk. The apartment is not on the cable car line so it's not noisy. Get a Muni pass as the bus/train/trolley system is superb (we got City Pass which was an awesome deal...if you buy it from Alcatraz tours, you get Alcatraz instead of just a bay tour but get it in advance). I would stay at this place again and again (the apartment, not Alcatraz).Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers.

Six of us thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night stay during Christmas. I was delighted to see a live decorated Christmas tree in the living room. Other holiday decorations made it special and we appreciated this added touch, very thoughtful. We found free parking for our 2 cars near the marina and had easy walks many places. Be sure and make reservations for the Beach Blanket Babylon, the world's longest running musical revue...a must see!! Hilarious pop and political spoofs with gigantic hats and one show-stopping number after another. This is just a 15 minute walk from the apt. Call them for reservations, so fun! The kitchen was stocked so well, even had coffee, tea and other needed items. Nothing in the refrigerator but the Safeway is a quick walk away in a small mall that also has a Drug Store. Highly recommend this cozy apt!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

We rented an apartment near the Lombard Street and everything happened on schedule. The location is wonderful, very quiet and apartment is excellent. Extremely warm and you can have everything you want to prepare meals, read a book or watching a good movie. We feel at home. I really loved the city and the experience of having been in the apartment for three days was memorable because we had the opportunity to live as a resident. San Francisco is a different city, where life is more peaceful, fresh food and the people are very friendly. At the end of our stay, we forget some things in the apartment (camera, ipod and perfumes) because we were traveling with children. When we turn to the Bernat (responsible for the apartment) he was extremely attentive and helpful and sent our belongings to our residence. I would like once again to record here my gratitude for the attention with which we were treated when we need. You are amazing. We´ll come back to SF one day.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this apartment! Location was perfect, only minutes walk to Fishermans Wharf and "Little Italy" (and Chinatown wasn't that far)! Its a lovely spacious apartment which 2 couples could easily fit into (it evens has a pull out sofa bed as well)! Although we didn't use it, the kitten was fully stocked and everything seems to be in very ew condition or very well maintained-what a lovely home away from home! Bernat was a pleasure to deal with-from booking to information with self check in, everything was a breeze and I wouldn't hesitate booking with them again (or the apartment for that matter)! Thanks again for a woderful first San Francisco experience!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers.

The apartment is located in one of the more convenient areas of San Francisco which is one of the biggest reasons we chose it. We also chose the parking garage on 721 Filbert, one of the parking areas that the property manager recommended, and it worked perfectly. It's a secured 24/7 garage that charges $20 per 24 hour period. Great price for parking in San Francisco especially when the hotels are charging $30-50/day for parking!! I don't recommed the one on Columbus as it's an open air lot with no security and the spaces are really tight. Didn't try the Lombard location. It was great to come "home" to the comfortable apartment after a busy day roaming around San Francisco. My husband and I traveled with our kids, 14 and 11, and we all had our own space if we needed it so it was wonderful. It was comfortable with 4 but I think 6 would be a bit tight especially with only one bathroom. The beds were very comfortable as well as the sofa bed (although 11 year old chose to sleep on top of the coach). The kitchen is very new and it's huge for a San Francisco flat and it was well stocked. There is a Safeway and Trader Joe's just three blocks away which was very convenient. The free internet access was also a huge bonus. We highly recommend this flat!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Family of 5 with teens stayed in July for four days. Location was great... close to restaurants, grocery stores and transportation without noise and crowds. Nice to get away from tourist areas. Accomodations were comfortable and spacious enough that we could find a private place to relax after a long day of site seeing. Kitchen is well equipped and easily sat all of us for breakfast. Nice alternative to two hotels rooms with comparable pricing. Would stay here again. Thanks.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers.

This main-floor section of a 'house' in San Fran terms was clean and well-equipped. Had ample towels great full kitchen with all the amenities, including newer appliances. It was a little noisy, being the main floor with other tenants above, and all around for that matter - it's in the middle of a row of San Fran homes that can't really be described unless you've seen them.. Property is original in most aspects and true to the style of the neighbourhood. Not a luxury accomodation if that's what you are used to, but lots of character. The location was the best part - walking distance to Fisherman's wharf, Pier 39, Coit tower, Lombard Street and right near the cable-car line. No laundry in the apt. but a coin wash down the street. Parking was a problem, but we managed to stay 5 days without getting a ticket and without paying to park in a lot. (2 hour free on-street parking, but you can park all night for free till 9 am). Would definitely recommend if you want to feel like you've 'lived' San Francisco, but if you want luxury, get a fancy hotel instead.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with teenagers.

Why the Owner Chose North Beach:
Location, location, location. This property is located in the best area of San Francisco: North Beach within walking distance to the best San Francisco has to offer.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
There is so much colorful history bound up in North Beach, and so much going on, it's hard for even the most cynical resident not to appreciate the crackling mix of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, bakeries, nightclubs, and book shops. The real gems in North Beach are the places that you hardly notice when you're passing by. If they have an attention-getting exterior, and especially if they have a 'greeter' or hired musician out front, you can be pretty sure that they're trying so hard to get you inside because they can't compete based on quality or reputation.
Before the augmentation of the coastline, North Beach was actually just that - the beach at the northernmost edge of San Francisco, known then as the Barbary Coast. Italian immigrants came in large numbers during the later 1800s, and began setting up the scene that is reflected in today's version of the neighborhood.
How To Get There: Walking up Grant Street and Chinatown from Union Square is the most common way for visitors to reach North Beach. The 20 and 41 Muni bus lines from Sacramento Street at Davis, just west of Embarcadero Center, also go directly there. Parking around North Beach can be tricky, but it's usually easier if you overshoot and look for a space around the northern end of Columbus, closer the Chestnut. There is also a parking garage on Vallejo Street between Powell and Stockton.
