Great care was taken to preserve the 100 year old pine floors and the aged spindle stairwell. The bedrooms are bright and cheery with double beds in three upstairs bedrooms and a queen size bed in the downstairs master bedroom. There are 2 full baths, 1 half bath, large living/family room, separate dining room, fully equipped kitchen and oh yes - 'the Kid's Cove' under the stairway for the little ones to discover and play. Both porches are enclosed. Available year round, our 'getaway' is a perfect setting for family vacations, reunions, retreats, hunters, fishermen, golfers, snowmobilers, skiers, or color tours. We had a wonderful time at this beautiful place. Our family gathered together for a Christmas reunion, and this beautiful home provided an exceptional location to build memories that will last a life time. We loved both the character of the home, and the fact that it had everything we needed. It exceeded our hopes and expectations, and we would recommend this place to anyone looking for a beautiful northern getaway. Thanks for everything!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children, age 55+.

I was so fortunate to find this wonderful getaway home to vacation with my family from around the world. My relatives from India and England had never been to Northern Michigan and renting this beautifully restored farmhouse was ideal. There were 10 of us altogether and everyone was very comfortable. When Philip, the property manager told us that the house was fully equipped, I didn't really believe him. Everything thing we needed was at the house and then some. I brought extra towels and blankets that we never even unpacked! You do not need to bring a thing. The house was clean, comfortable and cozy, the perfect place for a family reunion. The house is also very centrally located. About a 20 minute drive to Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes. We also enjoyed trips to Glen Arbor and Leland, which weren't much further. While in Lake Ann, a trip to the Stone Oven is a must.....gourmet food at reasonable prices. The Mac n Cheese is the bomb! When cooking at home, don't forget the fresh farm eggs right down the road and the many fruit and vegetable stands close by. We an unforgettable vacation, thank you Philip and Jeanne. What is great about this house? EVERYTHING! We stayed here with 5 little kids and 3 big ones, two of whom brought friends. We had plenty of room. There are loads of extra towels and linens. We had barbeques on their new grills and enjoyed our meals outdoors. Roasted marshmallows - YUM! The house has lots of personality. One of the bedrooms is on the first floor, off the living room with its own bath. We gave that section of the house to the big boys. The upstairs has three bedrooms - nice size, more roomy, more closet space than others we stayed in. One smaller bedroom is past one of the larger ones, railroad style. Like all great properties, this one has location, location, location. We spent one day in Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, voted most beautiful place in America on ABC's Good Morning America; the drive was just 15 minutes. The next day we rented a pontoon boat at Break'n Waves in Traverse City, again just 15 minutes away. Shopping for all the stuff we forgot at home :) was less than 15 minutes away at Meijer's. We could easily have spent two days at the park and another day in Traverse City biking, plus a couple of days at other beautiful parks and beaches nearby, all less than a half hour away. And yet, our own country house was exactly where we wanted to be when we got home - right in the middle of farming nowhere. Quiet, beautiful, spacious - vast fields surrounded by forests. Fabulous star gazing. Fresh eggs and horseback riding down the road. Just writing about it is making me long to go back! The property manager, Phil, was exceptional. Whatever we needed, he was on it. Anytime of the day or night, he made it clear he was there to make sure we were happy. We had a couple of minor requests, and he took care of them immediately. Make sure you follow the directions he gives to get there, because the GPS will take you on roads that are...shall we kindly say "unfinished". The pictures and description do not do this house justice. Go there and love it!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had an amazing week at this very comfortable, very clean farm house near downtown Lake Ann. We were four adults and two 2.5 year olds, and the house was perfect. It was big enough for all of us to spread out. We ate dinner out at the picnic table several times and used the grill. We got fresh eggs from the farm a couple doors up the road, and went next door to Outrider for pony rides twice, and several more times just to watch the animals (which included a miniature pony and goats, in addition to the horses). We drove the 20-25 minutes to Sleeping Bear Dunes twice, and also went several times to the beaches at Empire -- there was one beach on Lake Michigan and another more kid-friendly beach across the parking lot on a smaller lake/pond. We were also about 20-25 minutes from Traverse City. There are other smaller lakes nearby, and apparently they're working on a public beach in Lake Ann that will probably be open by 2013. We found a trail to walk on through the woods nearby, and the house is located close to several dirt roads that were also nice for walking. All in all a beautiful setting. The kid's cove was a hit with our toddlers. I highly recommend it!Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children, age 55+.

White Family Farm was a wonderful place for our family to vacation. We were 5 adults and 4 children and we had plenty of room to play and relax and a great kitchen to cook in. This farmhouse is nicely updated, clean and well-maintained. This home is centrally located between Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes Nat'l Lake Shore with all its beauty and outdoor activities. The bikes provided were in good working order. Phillip was was very accommodating and available, even assembling and providing a new gas BBQ grill the day after the old one failed. If your GPS suggests you take Fowler Rd. ignore it unless you have an all terrain vehicle; Fowler Rd. is an old dirt road with many ruts and bumps. Otherwise, the area is great - we'd go back in a flash! John & Carol Slembarski & FamilyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a very nice stay at this old farmhouse (nicely updated bathrooms); this is really a farm! There's a gorgeous red barn and picturesque farm meadows. Horseback riding just a few hundred yards away. Nice yard. 12-15 minute drive to a lovely Lake Michigan beach (Otter Creek/Esch Road) and 20 minutes to Empire (perfect family beach); fifteen minutes to Interlochen (good grocery store). The house was well -equipped (only exception was the gas grill, which needs to be replaced, but the charcoal grill was terrific); 2.5 baths all very nicely updated. Nice yard for volleyball; plenty of chairs for the yard and porch. We were a total of 6 adults and 4 teens, and we had plenty of room to relax. I'd recommend this for people who want real peace and quiet (you're really in the country) but near the big lake.Recommended for: Families with young children.

When I walked in the door I instantly felt like I was home! The rooms are cozy and there is space for everyone to spread out and have their own area. My kids LOVED the kids cove. The sunsets are breathtaking. The country setting is the perfect place to get away, but it is also close to all of the nearby activities. I cannot wait for our next stay!Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children, age 55+.

The farm house was a great venue for our family winter get-away, which included 3 generations, ages 5 - 56. Plenty of room for all & nears ski slopes, lakes for fishing, sledding on the property & forests for hunting.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, pet owners, families with young children.

Our family stayed at The Farmhouse recently and had a wonderful time. The minute we walked in the door, we felt right at home, right down to the hand-written welcome note and homemade jam. The entire place was spotlessly clean, and the decor was beautiful. The rooms had lovely color schemes, with plenty of warm blankets, comfy beds, and ample seating. The house was move-in ready, and believe me, they thought of everything. There was plenty of room for all of us (8-12, depending on the time of day), and no one felt crowded. One of my sons (who is fussy about such things) had reserved a hotel room in Traverse City but canceled it to join us when he saw how nice the farmhouse was. There was even a Kids Corner under the stairs exclusively for the wee ones. Although we were technically in the country, with all the peace and privacy that provides, we were no more than 20 minutes away from the most desirable locations and activities in NW Michigan. Before we departed, the children were already planning to return in the winter for a ski trip. The one condition they insisted on was no hotel--we had to stay at The Farmhouse again.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.

Everything is ready for us when we arrived. Driving to traverse city or sleeping bear dunes just need 20 min. Horseback riding and golf are within walking distance. We enjoyed using the kitchen and had a nice BBQ outside the house. All of us are willing to give 5 stars to this house.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+.
