Great for families or up to 3 couples. This is a classic Nantucket ''upside down'' layout. The breezes, the views, and the sunset can be enjoyed from the living areas on the second floor. This level has the kitchen, a large open dining/living room, and bathroom. The deck has a teak table & seating for 8, and the barbecue.
The surf can be heard from the 3rd floor where there is a bedrooom with a queen and single bed. There's even a small view of the ocean.
The functional ground floor has 2 bedrooms - one with a queen bed, and the other with a queen and a single. It has a bathroom & laundry. Sliding doors open to the covered patio where we store bikes and kayaks & the essential hammock.
The beaches are very clean and uncrowded. The back deck is peaceful and you can hear the surf. Do a couple of kayak laps in the pond. Take a break and unwind.
You can bike or take a 15 minute shuttle ride to town where you'll find plenty of shopping, restaurants, the whaling museum, etc ...

Why the Owner Chose Madaket
Nantucket adjusts easily to the type of vacation we are in the mood for. If we want to relax, there are so many peaceful ways to spend time. Or if we're feeling energetic, it's so easy to go for a surf, a bike ride, or a run.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome
There are some nice local features of Madaket. There's a local beach which is beautiful and occasionally has surfable waves. There's an equally close beach on the harbor-side of the island with shallow water which is perfect for children. Mr Roger's house of "Mr. Roger's Neighborhood" is nearby. Along Madaket Rd. there are some great places to pull off to go scalloping, or just hang your feet in some fresh water.
Beyond Madaket the island has much to offer in terms of recreation, culture, and amenities.
Most folks just drive to the end of the road, but if you turn off before you get to the ocean, there is a less frequently used part of the beach accessible here.
Drag the kayaks from the back deck down to the pond for a very quiet, pleasant paddle up and down long pond.

My family had spent a few short vacations on the island when my brother and I were kids. We had great times and decided it was the kind of place we wanted to invest our vacations in.
I'm the Director of Digital Fabrication at Kreysler & Associates, a composites fabrication facility in the Bay Area, California. My brother is a pilot who hops around islands up and down the east coast, as far south as the Carribean. And my mother is a property manager who just moved to Keystone, Colorado in December 2010.
Nantucket, and this home have become very much an identity to my family. It is at a nearby beach that my wife and I were recently married, and we plan to return many times with our family over the years to come.
