“Imagine yourself in a world apart, an oasis of color and fragrance, trickling fountains, and candles that light your way through the courtyard. Imagine being awakened by cathedral bells and tropical birdsong. Your view upon first light is incomparable: the Pacific Ocean, framed by multicolored azaleas. This and more is Casa de la Torre.” – Dr. Terri Dobbs, University of Wisconsin - Madison
Casa de la Torre is located in El Centro, home to some of Vallarta's finest restaurants and art galleries. It is a signature property and is referenced in several guide books. The house is built of stone on many levels and has an open air Mediterranean feel with spectacular views and a secluded garden and pool area. Most everything is within walking distance.
This 5 bedroom, 5 1/2 bath house has 3 “master suites” but can accommodate 8 people comfortably. Each bedroom has an in suite bathroom. There is a full time maid and houseman. A cook is available upon request.

The Wonders of Casa de la Torre

I had the great fortune to stay in Casa de la Torre with eight other friends in the middle of April, and there aren’t enough superlatives to do the house justice. It’s absolutely stunning. The architecture and landscaping are gorgeous—you discover a new detail every day you’re there. The main level is all open concept, making it a great space for entertaining and you’re never far away from the amazing weather and views of the ocean. Every room has its own bathroom, and for as open concept as the main area is, it’s easy to retreat into your own private space for a nap or to read. The owners, Ariel and Ted, are wonderful. They made every part of this trip easy—they were quick to respond to emails, welcoming when we arrived, and left us completely to our own devices while we were on the trip—but ensured we knew they were available at any time to help us with anything we might need. The on-staff housekeeper and groundskeeper don’t speak much English, but are very friendly and accommodating (we had some fluent Spanish speakers in our group which probably made things easier). The location was perfect for us—close enough to all the great bars and resort beaches that we could walk to, but just downtown enough that we didn’t feel like we were only mingling with tourists. There is a rather large and loud nightclub a few blocks away we could hear at night, and the restaurant next door is usually pretty active, but we were a loud group so we felt right at home—and none of the outside noises gave us any trouble sleeping. When selecting the house, our only concern had been the pool. With all the walls, it looked like the pool might not get sunlight for much of the day, but that wasn’t the case—the sun hits the pool from about 11am to 4pm. Ariel mentioned that they often considered heating the pool, which would make for a great amenity in the future (especially for swimming at night), but otherwise I wouldn’t change a thing. It’s also important to note that the house always felt very secure—it’s basically a fortress from the outside, and by the end of the trip we were practically leaving all of our valuables strewn about the house on our day trips. We felt very safe. The five days we were there were paradise and went entirely too quickly, and we can’t wait to go back as soon as possible!Did you find this review helpful? Casa de la Torre is an outstanding vacation destination, be it couples or a family with kids. Located in El Centro, you get to experience local culture, food, and shops just moments from your front door. You can spend days exploring the surrounding area on foot, or arrange for a boat with a captain, or a van with a driver to show you the outlying areas. But the best part of every day was waking up in and coming back to La Casa. It is a world unto itself, filled with the fragrance of the flowers that surround the inside. The architecture is a one-of-a-kind creation that brings the outside indoors. The decks, verandas, patios, and oh yes, La Torre itself, offered a myriad of places to hang out and enjoy the views, the breezes, and each other’s company. Chela was fun and loving, and she showed us how to prepare several authentic Mexican foods. She was quick to offer a “beverage” at the end of the day, and we loved having her around. And Martine kept the grounds manicured, the pool ready to use, and he even helped us with a Costco run, which was an experience with five people and all those Costco purchases riding in Martine’s VW bug. It just added to our wonderful experiences staying at La Casa. Spoil yourself, your family and friends and schedule a visit to Casa de la Torre. The longer the visit, the more fun you will have. We look forward to our next visit, and next time I’ll speak better Spanish.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We have just finished our first visit to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico over 10 days that included our 4 daughters, their spouses (except 1) and 3 grandchildren ages 3 to 10. 12 of us. What an amazing experience. While we were overwhelmed with the magnificence of the city, Casa De La Torre truly made it a trip of a life time. I would find myself staring at some of the architectural details with wonder. The ceilings included brick separated with small pieces of broken stone that seem to defy gravity. There is colorful tile everywhere. The stained glass windows throughout the home were beautifully centered; clerestories in the kitchen and several baths stunned; the marble work on the bedroom floor was well chosen and better laid. Atria abounded. We all enjoyed the pool though we often debated whether frolicking in the ocean or the pool was best. The views cannot be beaten. Vallarta introduced us very well to life in Mexico and for a moment we were not unaware of the class differences yet there is a balance and respect between people seemingly unknown in the States. The staff of Chella and Martin were exceptional. Came to want to bring them home with us. I cannot speak highly enough of our total experience. Gracias.Did you find this review helpful? When walking into Casa De La Torre I completely lost my breath over the beauty and design of the castle. It was an amazing experience staying and living at the Castle, one that I will never forget. The staff was very kind and helpful, and Ted was so pleasant to work with. Can't wait until I come back again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Our stay Casa De La Torre was absolutely heavenly. A stylish house, with lovely furnishings, and such a cozy atmosphere. Beautiful gardens, a refreshing pool, and that incredible tower affording an amazing view of Puerto Vallarta. The owner, Ted, was a gem. Everything we could have possibly needed was there before we even knew we needed it :) I'll be back again!!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Ted, thank you so much for an absolutely magical stay at Casa de la Torre. I found my normally critical self hushed by the exquisite beauty of the place, the perfectly central location, and the charming staff. My friends and I were all in much need of respite from the harsh the northern winter, and we all found ourselves fully renewed. Your graciousness as a host will not be forgotten, and we just hope that we can get a spot for next year. You have spoiled us. Thank you. -JaimesDid you find this review helpful?
