For some strange reason, I can not find the actual property we stayed at in Framura on VRBO's list.. Sufice to say, that the reader should stop searching and commit to this apartment. No kidding, the owner is the nicest, most warm and welcoming person you will ever meet. We stayed at her farmhouse and had the time of our life. There, we not only found a clean, well maintained, confortable, full of gorgeous furniture, apartment but met the nicest people. We all bonded, in such a way, that we are planing to make a movie of the experience. You will find that the photos represent an accurate picture of the rental's appearance. What more can you ask for? Portofino is a beautiful place, (she took me over there to get my hair cut) Trust me you are going to love it. Stop, and submit. You will be glad you did.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

Being my 1st time to Italy we struck GOLD when we found this Apartment!! Location was as described and then some! The pictures accurately reflect the appearance and amenities but to actually be there it is SOOO much better than the pics! VERY Clean!!! Every morning we would have coffee and just sit and look out the window to the Piazza watching the shop owners and vendors get ready for the day! In the Evening it would be a glass of wine watching all the people! And as amazing as this apartment was, the owner, Lilia was the absolute best!! You could not ask for anyone better to rent from! We, my sister and I , felt like we have known her for years! Thank you Dear Lilia, we miss Italy, you and the amazing time spent at your flat!! If we could, we would come back every year!! I would definately recommend this property to a friend or relative.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

We were only able to stay two nights here during our recent trip to Italy, but the stay was amazing! Lilia was super helpful and the apartment was so beautiful. Everything was sparkling clean and even better than the photos depict. Located right on the piazetta - it was so convenient and picturesque. The view out the windows was like a picture in a magazine! We loved our stay here and can hardly wait to come back and stay again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.
Owner response: My Dears, your presence was just for a couple of days, but I well remember you and your gentle, friendly and polite way of stay! If the ocean were...not so big :-) we could make an appointment in Portofino for an aperitive, but because the ocean is enormous, I really hope to host you again for a longer time to share with you a dinner in our favourite restaurant. Have you an wonderful Summer and thank you very much for your review and for the time you spent to write it; how know how precious is time to evrybody! Now we could share the memory of Portofino, one of my beloved places.

My husband and I had a delightful stay here in September 2011 and I wholeheartedly recommend this flat. Lilia had attended to everything and the studio was clean, bright and very comfortable. The furnishings are basic and simple, and the space used very efficiently. The beautiful view from the main room windows is over the piazzetta, looking away from the water (the entrance to the building is right on the water). Because of the tiny scale of the piazza, the flat offers a front-row seat to watch the comings and goings of the village (on certain days, there were a lot of daytripper tourists coming and going, but we actually enjoyed the rhythm of the place, all things considered). We used the kitchenette for breakfast and an occasional lunch or dinner - everything you need to cook is provided. We took a few day trips - Genoa, Cinque Terre are both nearby - but the best days were spent strolling along the harbor checking out the incredibly massive yachts that came in each day, and sipping coffee in the morning and wine in the evening. We enjoyed hiking to the top of the hill (the views are breathtaking - my husband still has a shot of the harbor from above as his screensaver on his phone), and into the park, and the short tourist ferry trip around the bend to San Fruttuoso monastery and its little beach. Portofino is a little Italian jewel-box, and the rate for this flat is extremely reasonable (the weekly rate is comparable to the nightly rate at the Splendido across the piazzetta). Keep in mind that Portofino restaurant prices are astronomical - a light lunch for two costs more than the nightly rate for the flat. Costs for parking the car and everything else follow suit. On the subject of cars, fortunately for me, my hubby loves Italian adventure driving, and coming and going from Portofino, he got to hug cliffs, take roundabouts and invent his own lane on the freeway. We felt the car was essential (we are too impatient and American to schlep from train to bus to taxi). We weren't impressed with the food in Portofino (even ignoring the prices), as is often the case in famous destinations where they are feeding more tourists than locals. (Go to Genoa for Ligurian food...pesto!) But, hey, where else can you dine a few steps from the water, with a view that encompasses both the sea and a Loro Piana boutique?Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Dear Julie, thank you very much for your nice words, for the time you have dedicated to write, and thank you also to appreciate a place that I really love. Portofino is a perfect mixture of nature and culture, rarely I have seen a village like this, so unforgettably beautiful. I am even happy that you fits well inside "home"...this is a joy for me and it is the best realization for my work. hoping to host you again in Portofino or in Framura,or to meet again in Italy for a drink or a coffee, I wish you all the best for the new year!Lilia

My husband and I had the pleasure of renting this lovely apartment directly on the piazzetta in this unique and picturesque town. The setting was spectacular and the location could not have been better for enjoying Portofino and exploring the pretty nearby towns such as Santa Margherita - easily accessible by bus or a beautiful walk. Lilia was an incomparable hostess - so thoughtful and gracious. The apartment was extremely clean and comfortably furnished. We also had the pleasure of renting Lilia's home in Framura in close proximityt o Cinque Terre. This home provided an idyllic, peaceful setting with breathtaking views. The home was beautifully and warmly furnished with all the comforts of home. Lilia is a gracious hostess who went above and beyond - taking care of all our needs. She literally chauffeured us around and is an absolutely charming and helpful lady. It was a pleasure meeting her and enjoying her beautiful homes in some of the most breathtaking spots in Italy.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Dear Debra, thank you very much for your words, thank you to appreciate our work and our places and thank you especially for your gentle and delicate choice to let me discover your review by myself, as a special gift! I really hope to host you again or maybe to meet you somewhere else in front of a delicious meal admiring a beautiful sunsets as we had here in Framura. I wish you all the best! Ciao, Lilia

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1970
About the owner: I am 50 years old and I live in a beautiful small village in Liguria called Framura, next to Cinque Terre, with my husband Guido, my daughter Giulia and our 3 dogs. About 7 years ago we built our house here and I decided to leave my job and start a new life keeping more in touch with nature. Nowadays we grow vegetables and we make honey, wine, and olive oil in a peaceful and unspoiled envairoment, with a particular attention to preserve our tradition. We are also building a completely ecologic guest-house,that will be ready next year, to host people who loves sea and sun and choose a relaxing holiday in this wonderful area.
Why the Owner Chose Portofino:
We lived for many years in Portofino and also my mother lived there before. It is an old, little fisherman's village located at the very end of a roman road, the Via Aurelia, on a nice promontory.I have wonderful memories of this place and of our life there. Infact I think it is amaizing how in Portofino you can find the semplicity and the singularities of a village and at the meantime all the facilities and the nightlife of a famous and elegant place discovered at the beggining of the last century by the English tourists. The governament is also taking care of the beautiful and rare natural enviroment of the area, so that it is still possible to swim in an unpoluted sea observing an interesting waterscape or to have a lonely walk in a wood. All this beauty is just 8km from the highway...
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Our property gives you the possibility to be right in the heart of Portofino. In fact it is located on the Piazzetta where you can find the best restaurants and bars enriched by the sound of the waves and by one of the most romantic views in the world. Here you could also enjoy the best of the italian life in a cheerful and contemporary elegant atmosphere. From Portofino it is easy to reach a completely equiped beach or to explore a wilder and more hidden one. Moreover if you are interested in,the village it is full of history: there is an ancient castle, a medieval oratory and many famuous artists have been here, for example Truman Capote wrote the "Grass Harp" when he was living in the flat just above ours. A perfect balance between culture and nature.
